History

Established in 1990.

BP Sealcoating and Paving was started in 1990. BP stands for «Ben Pahlow» the original owner and founder of the company. Ben started the company in high school to earn a award at his school for an entrepreneurship class. He did win this award by starting the company and continued the company through college. Because he built such a great reputation throughout the years he decided to continue the company after college. Ben married his high school sweet heart early on and they decided to do missionary work in Africa. The used the company as a way to support their trips to Africa to help the poor and build a future for these natives. In 2013 the company was purchased by Valerie Gonzalez, owner of Chicagoland Cleaners and Restoration. She wanted to bring the same reputation the company has had over the years and same quality of work, just as Ben had, and her current company Chicagoland Cleaners and Restoration. Currently the company is working on becoming certified women owned.

I bought into BP Sealcoating and Paving in early 2013. I loved the values of the company and the great reputation. Ben wanted to continue to help more in Africa and had less time to spend with the company. Currently we still send money to help with the missionary work as well as donate to other charities. I bring the same values to this company as in my current successful company Chicagoland Cleaners and Restoration. I bring a lot to this company and will continue to bring great quality work with every driveway and roadway that we complete.

Do not use this company. They’re a scam! They took our money for a job and disappeared with it. We are filing a police report and will seek legal action. If someone here has tips on where to find these people. Please let me know. Thanks!

We have contacted the police regarding Andrew Schwartz and BP sealcoating which is no longer in business. He has already opened and closed another business A’s Used Appliances. This man is a scam artist. He took money for a driveway job. He never did the job. His business was closed within weeks of our check being cashed. He somehow reprinted our check and made it out to himself and forged my signature.
We have started an investigation into this man. If you have been scammed by this man please contact the police and your attorney. If enough people come forward there may be a way to catch him and make him pay.

I cant speak of their service either since they took my down payment and now after more than 3 months, I still cant get in touch with anyone. Andrew Schwartz is a weasel and after doing some checking found that every business he’s been involved in seems to up and disappear. Would love to hear from others who have been screwed by this dirtbag.

I believe this company is the reason my home sold so quickly and for my asking price. I called the office and spoke to a young man by the name of Eric. This gentleman was sharp as a tack I received a quote from him and they where out front of my home 25 minutes early on my scheduled appointment. As I was going out for the paper a man named Omar greeted me with a hello. He explained that I should remove my vehicle from the garage and park out in the street. I did so and went back inside to read a book. Two hours later the doorbell rang and I couldn’t believe my eyes on how beautiful my driveway looked. I payed up and I will be scheduling a job with them at my current home. Thank you very much BP y’all are awesome.

My experience with BP Sealcoating could not have been worse. After overly pursuing them to return my calls and do my small job, I got them to put in a new driveway (maybe?). They did the work when I was out of town. I came home to an uneven, wavy driveway, with patches, divots, uneven edges on all sides and materials slopped all over the sidewalk. I was horrified. Several neighbors stopped to comment how bad it looked. After getting a hold of them at first they told me I didn’t understand how a new driveway looks, but after looking themselves, they agreed to re-​lay to top. (some who have seen the driveway have suggested they never took out the old one and just laid asphalt on top of old driveway?). This time I wanted to be home so I took a day off of work. They never showed up or called. After many calls and e-​mails, I finally got an e-​mail saying their equipment broke and we set another day for the re-​do. I took another day off of work and they never showed up or called. I called at least 5 times and e-​mailed all day and never heard from them. At the end of the day I wrote them an e-​mail saying I’m done and don’t show up at my property — not that they were going to. I subsequently asked for my original survey back and they said they would send it. When it didn’t come, I followed up around 10 times, being told at the beginning that it was sent, then being told they’d follow up to see what happened, but, surprise, they never got back to me. There is really nothing more wrong they could have done. They were horrendous to work with and I’d suggest anyone to look elsewhere.

1 star for failure to honor their service commitment as promised.
After receiving a reasonable written quote for residential driveway seal coating from this company in July, I booked the service for my Arlington Heights for mid-​August. I live out-​of-​state, so I could only assume the work had been completed on the date that we had agreed to via email. In September, I contacted the company via email to arrange for payment because I hadn’t received a bill. No response. I find out from my property tenant two weeks later that the work was never completed. I then contacted the company via phone and email to find out what happened. I get one lame response back via email that «they were showing the job completed, and their workers must have done the wrong house.» Andrew Schwartz then promised a phone call to me in order to reschedule the job. It’s been over a week and I’m still waiting for that call back. In the meantime, all of the other seal coating companies are fully booked for the rest of the year.
I gave you plenty of opportunities to fix your mistake, BP Sealcoating. My driveway sealcoating will now have to wait until Spring 2015 because of your failure to complete the service. I don’t appreciate having my time wasted by your inability to manage your business.

We were very pleased with the work provided by BP. They removed our driveway and replaced with a new one back in April. They did a great job and I chose them because of their background. They recently did a sealcoating job which is my reason for the review. I will use them again.
