Specialties
As the only nonprofit continuing care community in Arkansas City, Presbyterian Manor offers the flexibility to meet our residents’ needs as they evolve. Our continuum of care encompasses independent living and home health services, assisted living, short-term rehabilitation, and health care with skilled nursing. A Memory Care neighborhood for people living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia opened in 2013.
Our accommodations range from studio apartments to one– and-two-bedroom townhomes. Residents enjoy an array of amenities including restaurant-style dining, cappuccino bar, computer center, hair salon, library and chapel. Independent living residents may also take advantage of «pet-friendly» accommodations, individual patios and gardens, carports and access to additional storage.
Our beautifully landscaped 11-acre campus is located at the northern edge of Arkansas City, a few short blocks from downtown.
History
Established in 1978.
Construction of Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor began in 1978 following a successful campaign to raise the $ 4 million estimated cost. Efforts to develop our community and set the tone for its mission were spearheaded by the Rev. Hugh Marsh, who was the first administrator.
Initially, Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor consisted of 93 apartments for residents able to live independently. In April 1980, three wings of the health care center were added. The west wing, which is all private rooms, was added after 1984.
In November 1986, the community broke ground for the duplex addition.
In September 1993, the third floor was licensed for assisted living. A short time later, the fourth floor was added to serve the increasing demand.
A memory care neighborhood opened in 2013 in our licensed assisted living area. The fourth floor underwent extensive renovation to design separate dining, living and activity spaces for residents to enjoy.
