Willow and Rags sells both new and used clothing. Consignment drop offs are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday 20 items or less, one drop off per month. Drop off gently used clothing and receive 40% of the sale after it sells and build up store credit or receive a check for the same amount.

This place is incredible! I been loosing weight slowly and consistently over the past three years (yeah!) and so I consigned my larger nice designer clothes at Willow & Rags and I found equally nice new and gently used clothes to fit me and as I got smaller, Willow & Rags has been my GO To! store of choice! The managers are very helpful and knowledgable about their products and service is excellent. I prefer the Rags part of the store, but both compliment each other. Love their monthly fashion shows on Art night!

I went back the other day hoping to have a better experience this go around, but sadly that was not the case. To make a long story short, the employees here are extremely rude. I asked the girl at the counter if they carried a shirt I liked in the next size up (XL) because the Large just didn’t look right. She told me «we don’t carry sizes that big.»

I tend to avoid the «Willow» part of the store — the new items seem pretty cheaply made but are much higher priced than one would expect. However, the back half of the store («Rags») has all of the consignment clothes and is great. I always find a few items there to buy! I’ve gotten some of my favorite articles of clothing from there.
I took away a star because I’m often annoyed by their clothing acceptance policy. A few pairs of jeans I brought in that were each worn once are «too worn» but they often have various ratty t-​shirts from ten year old events on their racks. Huh?

Long story short they basically lost a bunch of my items and tried to make a long list of excuses of why it isn’t their fault even though their system said my items were somewhere in the store… the most ridiculous of the excuses was that «my items may have sold and they forgot to credit me» meaning they took all the money from selling my things. I was already reluctant to sell here because my friend worked there before and said employees will steal your items (because most people don’t count how many items they drop off) but I did anyways. the lady finally calls me back and says she found two of my items had sold months ago and the employee never put the credit to my account. hats off to «ALI» the employee who although had a Terrible attitude located my items in a timely manner.

Willow is great. The new clothes are expensive but cute. YES, sometimes they have ugly clothes. Sometimes they seem to have only ugly clothes. Show me one place where you go in and love every single item they have. Doesn’t happen. I love the consignment too, although even though last time they wrote «super cute clothes thanks!» I found most of the clothes I had given them returned. Grr. But over time I eventually build up a nice amount of credit. I like all the girls who work here. Even if I don’t come in for months when I eventually do come back in to check my credit they remember me and my code. As long as I live in humboldt I will shop at willow. Would be 5 stars but I am a sore loser because I wish they would take all my old clothes.

I absolutely love Willow & Rags. To be honest I don’t pay much attention to their new clothing items. They always seem very expensive for what they are: cheaply-​made pieces of disposable fashion that will fall apart in a couple months. I could go to Forever21 and find the same clothes for a third of the price.
Willow & Rags’ real crowning jewel is their consignment section. I agree that it can be hit or miss, but I have found myself leaving the store with a gently-​used treasure almost every time I shop there. Last Tuesday I was there and found a super cute Free People thermal in my size that looked brand new. I know how much they retail for, and for what they were asking I couldn’t allow myself to leave without it. Sometimes you just have to dig a little bit and you’ll find a real treat.

I do consignment here and I am pleasantly surprised at how fast my balance builds up! You can drop off consignment items on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays and 20 items max. I’ve noticed that a lot of their new clothing is made in the US. Nice, helpful laid back employees too.

I’m not really a fan. Their new clothes are expensive and not very fashionable. The redeeming quality of this store is in the used clothes, but they can be a bit expensive as well, especially since many of the used clothes don’t seem very clean and can be a bit worn-​out. It’s an odd setup to say the least. If you’re riding the hipster wave it may be for you.

I have found several, evenly-​priced party dresses here for various events I’ve needed attire for in the past 6 months or so. I usually find more hits with their new stuff but have found the occasional gem in the used section when I’m feeling up to sorting through the racks. I’d say I can spend maybe 10 minutes perusing the new racks and find at least one item I’m definitely going home with. I’m now a regular shopper here.

I love this store The stuff in the front is a bit pricey and weirdly expensive. I’m not even sure what brand it is or where it comes from. In the back is more of a consignment sales section, and has some really nice stuff. No matter what, I always find something I like when I go.

«Meh. I’ve experienced better» (the Unilocal title associated with two stars) really accurately describes Willow. The new clothes are cheaply made, with thin fabric and poor seams — but super expensive. It bothers me that such obviously bad clothing has such an unreasonable price! The used clothing is acceptable, I can find some deals there. I only go to Willow because there isn’t much else out there — overall, I like Clothing Dock better for used/​consignment.

I used to love Willow & Rags, but I think their selection of clothes has really deteriorated over the last few years. I suppose the used section is always the same in terms of what you will find, but their new clothes are rarely fashionable or flattering. The staff is generally female and unfriendly. I used to take my used clothes here for consignment, but after one bad experience and multiple experiences with rude staff, I quit.

No hit or miss here. I always find the problem of finding too MANY good things and have to whittle down my choices to stay within some modicum of budget. Yeah, the new stuff may be more for the fashion forward and those with a penchant for metallic. But, the «used» stuff is great – in good condition and well organized.
Last time I was there, I was looking for a black blouse. Found at least 3 that would work! How often does that happen!
And the staff there is just fine! I don’t know what the other Unilocalers are talking about. On my last visit I was served very nicely by Natalie. She was very sweet and helpful.

Oh, Willow and Rags. You try so hard to be the Buffalo Exchange, and yet…
It’s always fun to look through the clothes here. The prices are good, and there is quite a variety. About 1⁄3 of them are super cheaply made, gonna fall apart after one washing, made in a sweatshop, kind of stuff.
The girls who work here are THE WORST. Seriously, terrible customer service. I have never been acknowledged or greeted ONCE by the girls working. Instead, each time they hang out by the counter, gossiping about their coworkers or loudly describing their personal lives. I’m not expecting a personal shopper experience, but really? Someone needs to give those girls some customer service training,

Willow is probably my favorite clothing store in Arcata. If I feel like going shopping for clothes I go there first because their second-​hand items are very reasonably priced and the staff is friendly. I have also consigned alot of clothing and shoes there and have always been pleased with the money/​credit that i receive.
Their new clothes are a bit too ‘hip’ for me, but alot of times it goes on sale and i can pick through it to find the less extreme and more simple items. I would highly recommend this place for anyone and especially the budget shoppers who like recycled fashion. Yay for used clothes!

So, it is cool to be vegan, outdoors-​y, environmental, pro-​human rights and all that in Humboldt County. But you cannot live your life without stepping on some toes. Fashion is just one of those few concepts that I’m willing to «cope with.»
Willow and Rags has a wonderful selection of new and used clothes although, some of the new clothes are a little extreme for my taste. However, I recently went on a slight spending spree (does $ 60 count as a splurge?) But it was for 4 resonable items I know I’m going to wear for awhile.
And the people there were nice not only to me but also to a new employee learning the ropes. I usually space out the time I go here just for the sales and new stock. I think it’s a nice place when you’re not looking for beanies, water-​proof jackets or rain boots.

I refuse to spend my money here, not only are their new clothes ridiculously marked up for sweatshop clothes (SantiAli anyone?) but I consigned some very expensive barely worn clothing (granted from more cutting edge brands and not emblazoned with rhinestones and logos) and got a grand total of 26 dollars! Also the girls who work there have horrendous eye make-​up almost as horrendous as their attitudes.
