History
Established in 2012.
After, the oldest recycling center in the U.S.A. shut it’s doors in 2011, a group of artists, educators, environmentalists, movers and shakers came together to develop a creative reuse center in Humboldt County. Eventually we determined that the best fit for our community would be to become a part of SCRAP’s (School Community Reuse Action Project) USA Project. We developed an application and joined the National family in August 2012. As SCRAP Humboldt, we join Washington DC, Traverse City, MI, Denton, TX, and our Mother Organization, SCRAP in Portland, OR as the fifth SCRAP in the nation.
SCRAP Humboldt is a project of SCRAP, a 501©(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to inspire creative reuse and environmentally sustainable behavior by providing educational programs and affordable materials to the community.
