Redwood Raks World Dance Studio is a vibrant space in the historic Old Creamery Building in the heart of Arcata’s Creamery District with classes taught by an amazing array of world dance artists, workshops, music and dance performances and marvelous special events for all ages.

We have space for your classes, rehearsals, meetings, workshops, parties and performances, with two spacious studios ready to go with mirrors and lovely hardwood dance floors. Come join one or more of our great local dance communities that call Redwood Raks home. Current class offerings include Belly Dancing, Zumba, Swing/​Lindy, Blues, Argentine Tango, Salsa, Karate, Capoeira, Break Dancing, Samba and West African.

History

Established in 2009.

Redwood Raks World Dance Studio came about after the closure of The Dancenter, a beloved non-​profit dance studio in Arcata’s Creamery Building since the 1980’s. Shoshanna, local Belly Dancer and event producer, was so excited to begin her own world dance studio in the space and continue that tradition, so several of our current renters have been in the space far longer than our time as Redwood Raks.

It’s the only local studio in which all offerings are by teachers who have developed their own independent programs and events, and the collective level of talent at the studio has been astounding. We now have two studio spaces, with the second space being home to amazing kids birthday parties on the weekend.
