Village Host Pizza & Grill

This place is so good! I only got a normal pizza but oh my gosh YUM! No longer will I order from a chain pizza place, these guys are so much better. pizza taste great, not to oily, just right.

I don’t understand why this place can’t get it together. The pizza is so good and it’s always busy. The turn around and service is usually always TERRIBLE! There are young kids running the place that visibly don’t care! And any sort of holiday you should double the time. It’s always a long time to wait for their pizza that’s why when I called one in this night I wasn’t surprised by the 45 min wait time even if she seemed to try to talk me out of ordering, we were ready to wait. I didn’t count on the 10 min line to pick up the pizza or the two different people to complain in front of me of the amount of time they had been waiting, or the girl behind the counter to literally say to another employee she didn’t ‘give a f*#%’ that they lost a delivery order and then tell another customer who had been waiting an hour that her pizza would be lightly cooked if she wanted it and then be visibly pissed when that customer asked for her pizza to be fully cooked! I was nervous when it was our turn surprisely our pizza was ready. However, we ordered a large pepperoni and olive extra crispy it was ‘lightly cooked’ not crispy and was so sloppily made only 3 pieces had olives. I want this place to do well, pizza is normally pretty good and only 2 minutes from my house but it’s been several disappointments. I heard a couple staying at the resort saying they couldn’t wait 45 mins because their kids would be asleep. You are missing out!

After coming back to our room at Seascape Beach Resort from a wedding, the girls and I were definitely having a case of the drunchies. This place is conveniently located across from the resort and is an easy walk. They have great pizza and awesome service. It didn’t take long for our medium combination pizza to get made and huge bonus points for free ranch! Overall, if you’re in the area and are craving some pretty tasty pizza then do not hesitate to check this spot out.

UPDATE: The Management tracked us down, apologized with an explanation, listened attentively, and even gave us a free pizza that was delicious!
Previous issue about lost order and no delivery is resolved, and therefore, I am rating them on the Pizza alone, which was tasty fresh.

Not that inspired by our local pizza joint. Average pizza, relatively dirty location despite an army of employees; at least 9 employees working last night. Funny because I saw only about 15 customers while I was there; can’t be cost effective. And does not add up to why the tables were so dirty and sticky.
I am inclined to give them another shot, but wow Village Host, you have changed, put on some weight, and have let yourself go just a bit. Hey Mr. Host, better get into the business and take a look what is going on there!

Great pizza place and very nice staff. Liked the little side bar to order beers. Asked for a few tastes and he was happy to oblige.
Agree with other review. Light red sauce is critical to good pizza! And it was light. Thank you! Had the Hawaiian and ur was good but didn’t like the run still in the ham which probably doesn’t matter to most people.
I saw a few sandwich he’s delivered and they looks reallY nice and toasty and filed with a lot of meat!

This establishment is most definitely not worth the lifetime waiting for a single mediocre slice. Even as our pizza was ready and getting a lil chilly the employees refrained to inform us with a holler that our number was currently available. May I also add that the man portrayed on the logo eerily resembles the monopoly man.

First and last time here. Walked in at 9:30 and was told they ran out of food. It’s a PIZZA joint… on a Friday… on July 3^rd!!! You mean to tell me you don’t have any «food» to make a pizza on the first evening of 4^th of July weekend??? If you want to go enjoy your holiday, that’s fine… then CLOSE THE SHOP! Don’t pretend to be open until 10. This is the definition of horrible service (which I read about on other reviews here) and means I will never be back, and will be sure to tell all my neighbors about since I actually live in Aptos. It’s a shame the people that waited on me will just go get a job at another fast food place and not feel the sting… hopefully the owners will actually care and fix it instead of relying on local vacationers to buy their pizza because it’s close.

Went to get an order for take out stood by front counter listening to woman behind counter for over 5 minutes on her cell with personal call. Never got to order so I have no idea how there food is. Service absolutely sucks

Lackluster, pricey for what you get, the large is the size of a medium. I live in the neighborhood and the pizza is never consistently cooked. But try it for yourself once.

If you are thinking about eating here-don’t. Firstly, I waited two hours for my cheese pizza. When the pizza was ready, they didn’t bring it to me and I had to personally ask for it at the counter. Secondly, when I took a bite out of the pizza, it burned my mouth and was way too hot.
I am never going there again and would never recommended it.

Horrible customer service! Called and ordered a pizza and was put on hold TWICE for over three minutes each time. Was told pizza would take 45 – 50 minutes. Called after an hour and a half, and know that sometimes these things happen and they are busy etc. Was told it was in its way and it has now been over two hours. Called again, and was told there was nothing they would do about it and that is was «on its way» have starving kids and the fact that they were so rude about it, makes it even worse. Won’t be ordering for them anymore which is a real bummer. We have been loyal customers for four years…

I used to live down the street, and this is my favorite pizza/​sandwich place.
I would order a custom pizza, chicken, onion, garlic, bell peppers.
When we would play rounds of golf at the Seascape golf course, I would get two chicken pesto sandwiches for the game.
This is definitely a family friendly place, and it’s situated in a nice little shopping center.

Look, I enjoy good food — really good food. I have also ordered a lot of pizzas and sandwiches over the years from various pizza restaurants in Capitola, Soquel and Santa Cruz. I recently called in to place an order late on a Thursday night at about 10 minutes to closing. They treated me very well — and, although ten minutes to closing, they said we’ be there in 30 minutes! It was at my house and on time. All along they were pleasant, accommodating and the sandwiach and pizza were delicious.
The best service and some of the best pizza I have had on the Monterey Bay!

Great pizza but wait too long salad bar okay. Workers nice and friendly. Location very nice near a beach resort. They have video games for the kids and some flat screen tv’s.

Really needs to be updates. Everything seems to be falling apart. Decent food, but nothing to write home about. Their vegetarian pizza however, is dynamite and packed full of fresh veggies.

Decent pizza with quality toppings. The kids loved the arcade. They could use some improvement on their beer selections in the bar. Also a bit run down and could use a face lift.

Once again best pizza place hands down.

We have been customers of Village Host for over 10 years. They have been our go to pizza place usually on a weekly basis. Well not anymore!
Tonight my husband called to order a pizza for me to pick up on my way home. He was told it would be 30 minutes. I arrived about 40 minutes later. I was told they didn’t have an order for me. They suggested my husband called the Capitola store instead. I confirmed the number and the time my husband called. The girl suggested that my husband was lying and acted as if she couldn’t care less about loosing my order.
I understand they’re busy and lost orders can happen. But it’s how the business handles the problem that makes for a happy or unhappy customer. If the girl had apologized and then simply offered to put in a new order I would have been miffed but appeased. But to be completely apathetic and rude they just lost a customer.

We had a small sausage, mushroom, pepperoni. I thought it was pretty good. The crust was crispy just how I like it. One thing that bugs me about Pizza My Heart is the soggy crust.
I thought the wait, however, was a bit long. It was over 30 minutes for small 3 topping.
We’re not from around here, so we’ll never be regulars, but we drop by the next time we’re around.
