Description

Specialties

Operating out of Aptos, Pets on the Path consists of partners, Lila and Gabe, as full service pet care providers; specializing in dog walking and pet-sitting, as well as large animals and aquatic pets.

Lila has been an animal service professional for over 15 years!

She was raised with many pets and farm animals by a family that ran a floral nursery. Gardening, and the proper care of plants, are a second passion that Lila applies to her work when caring for the homes of clients.

A third, and very cherished aspect of our services, include Pet Portraiture. Lila is a Fine Art student and has been illustrating the animal kingdom since her youngest years, with the same vibrant passion as her other gifts with animals and plants, all combined to create the inspiration for Pets on the Path.

Gabe, also raised on ranches with all types of family pets, is a dog whisperer with energy to match any breed of dog, so exercise is always fun!

History

Established in 2010.

Before the name, Pets on the Path, was chosen to represent Gabe and I as business partners, my time was spent working with dogs and others animals, in a variety of capacities, as an animal handler.

I began my professional career as a Trail Ride leader and «pit crew» for Indiana Ranch Morgans in Pt. Reyes station; an operation of over 15 Morgan Horses, who were active endurance ride competitors. I assisted with foaling, training and the care of clients, on challenging rides through the National Parks of Northern California.

My years spent volunteering at the Berkeley Humane society introduced me to dog walking and rescue work for behavior-challenged pets. I continued as a groomer & kennel attendant, at a Los Gatos Kennel, before joining Santa Cruz’s Golden Retriever Rescue chapter, in 2006. Following that, I worked at Dr. Brennan’s Animal Hospital of Soquel as a Receptionist.

My work at those wonderful facilities. allowed me to become educated in dog behavior modification.

Meet the Manager

Gabe L.

Manager

Gabe was versed in horse-sense by his father, a New Mexico Saddle-maker, and spent years enjoying being part of south-western rodeo life, as well as working with horses and cattle on his Grandfather’s ranch in Sunol, CA. His life was full of furry friends as a young person, including Scent Hounds and Labradors, among many others.

His tall stature and experience with geriatric animals, provides wonderful support to Pets On The Path when they are providing care for large breed dogs or animals with physical limitations.

The many dog clients Gabe walks are fond of his tirelessly accurate and long-distance object throwing for retrieval, a Labrador’s best friend! Whether it’s a stick, floating toy or classic tennis ball your dog dreams about at nap time– Gabe will be there to make dreams come true: «Tired-out» dogs– every owner’s dream, as well as ensuring more naps for the satisfied pet for the rest of the afternoon, that’s a win-win for all!

«Dr. Wilson and Dr. Tackabury are both incredibly kind and caring with our 4 pets. We were informed about homeopathic options for our geriatric dog.»
