Arthur S Dover, MD DTMH

At first I was annoyed when my primary care physician referred me to a «travel doctor» instead of just helping me himself with my preparations to travel to Southeast Asia. Turns out my PCP knew what he was doing! Dr. Dover is clearly an expert in his field and passionate about his work, and is very professional but also genuinely friendly. He asked pertinent questions and truly listened to my answers and guided me accordingly. He was efficient while still being thorough and did not make me feel rushed. In addition to required vaccines, he gave me a lot of health-​related tips and information I hadn’t even thought about.
His office is small and unassuming but don’t let that fool you. Dr. Dover is a true professional and is well-​informed regarding current global health issues. He will cover all the bases with you including making sure you are squared away with your insurance and co-​pays. Dr. Dover is one of the most excellent clinicians I’ve met with and I feel lucky to have found him before my trip. Thank you!

Dr. Dover has helped me with vaccines and figuring out an uncommon disease I picked up in the tropics. Very knowledgeable, super attitude. And great prices, too. If you travel, especially outside of the Western world, you should make an appointment, in my opinion.

I can hardly wait for my next vaccine. Well, almost. :) Arthur (so relaxed that we seem to be on a first name basis) has a bedside manner that no other doctor I know has: soft-​spoken, easygoing, yet utterly competent and businesslike. Sitting in his roomy office — actually a cabin in the cluster of adorable red buildings around Surf City and a deli — I gazed at the wooden sculptures from Columbia and consulted with Arthur about the vaccines I might want for an upcoming trip. He not only had information pertinent to my trip, but it was breaking news from the national infectious disease conference just two weeks prior. That is what I call amazing service! He also recommended certain vaccines while advising against one I had read about on the CDC website: he said that was overcautious and unnecessary, a candor for which I was very grateful; I don’t want more medical interventions than necessary. Hardly twenty minutes, lots of personal consultation, and several informational handouts later, I was on my way. No question, before my next trip I will definitely be back.

Competitively priced travel doctor. I wasn’t sure where to go before my Indo trip and a friend referred me here. He has everything from shots to bug repellant. I think this is as good as it gets.
