History

Established in 2013.

From dreaming of owning our own business, combined with one of our favorite hobbies (treasure hunting/picking/antiquing) & our passion for repurposing, painting furniture & home décor, the SS Shabby Shack was born (after several other names, dabbling on Ebay). As fate would have it & while searching for a cabinet to hold paints, we fell into a business opportunity with a furniture store owner, painting her clients furniture. Within a few months & a dozen clients later, we rented a space inside her store to sell our own painted pieces. Next, opening a second space in a different store 14mi away. Doing shows like the Fancy Flea, Home & Garden Events & a few other markets, we built a loyal customer base and a year later, June 2014, we decided to open our own shop. We envisioned a market that would help others, like us, with the same dream. We found a place large enough to bring in vendors, artisans, crafters, plus sell our items & being a part of our community by holding art class/parties

Her FM got so bad that she had to leave a job she loved. Missing a portion of her income & potential for wage increases, we were faced with how to bring in more income. So, we thought of something we both enjoyed & although, she can’t go antiquing, garage sales like she used to or do the many things she used to do, we decided to open a shop, hire someone to run the daily operation, leaving me to do most of the large painting projects & building. It also, gives Jill the opportunity & flexibility to paint on occasion, which is therapy
