First time going their, as their kitchen was opened late, food was good and I will be going back to see what other stuff that got going on; the cs was great and well, maybe a little off about the way that hey seemed to be giving as the air in the room. Still, it was late and about to close, for they have a great look and feel, ypu really feel at a bar that likes to showcase, well, maybe go and see how they got style all thir own.

1st visit, great food and drinks, great service had Mahi w/grilled veggies and bleu cheese potato salad, yum!

Bagged salty chips went with the guacamole. The Mahi Mahi is unseasoned and would be easily confused with trout. It needs some lemon to bring out some flavor. The Slaw that went in top is overpowered with very strong onion. I could taste no mango that is supposed to be the slaw. The taco shells are cooked on the grill and are just too tough and tasteless to enjoy. I had to take the fish out of the shells. My hubbies Handlebar potatoes are too salty and they are raw inside yet are blackened. The burger bun is some generic tasteless thing that doesn’t hold up. No spreads were give for the dry bun. Some special aoli sauce would be nice. Many beer selections are hit or miss depending on the day. Here one day and gone the next. The place has been remodeled, but more effort should be placed into the preparation of tasty food that is prepared properly and is flavorful. As we were ready to leave, the barmaid asked how the food was and I told her. She took the burger off the bill. We thank her for that.

I’ve only been here once and it was out on the patio. The service was great, the food was awesome. The drinks were refreshing. I love how many choices they have of beer on tap. Worth checking out if you are on that side of town!

Went at lunch time for burgers. Bar tender/waitress wasn’t very enthused to help us. If your male and sitting at the bar it’s a completely different story… Customer service for days. We asked for burgers cooked medium, they came out well done– zero pink. Sent them back and the new ones came out, delivered by the manager– and literally they were raw in the center. The manager started chastising us when we said that’s raw! Saying ladies ladies ladies. Are you kidding me?!! It’s not my fault you don’t know how to cook a burger to medium! Isn’t this what your know for? Your burgers! BEWARE — hit or miss.

Now that all of the tourists are leaving I can now go to a restaurant and not have to wait to get s table. We had a super meal here. Salmon smoked lightly and cooked perfect. Ribs had a nice pecan flavor and we’re basically fall off the bone. The blue cheese potato salad is the best I have had and grilled veggies are awesome. I am not a craft beer guy but they do have a large selection. They even have cornhole on the back patio. Going back for the wings on Tuesday. I heard they are great. Oh… the music is great but a little loud.

Visited the handlebar Pub and Grill today for the first time. After hearing so many people rave about their food I decided I needed to try it myself. What great food these guys have even the sides are delicious. I’ll make sure to make this a regular routine. I had the green chili burger with pepper jack cheese, and had them add their homemade pastrami on to the burger as well, so with bacon it made it delicious.

What a great suprise. Doesn’t look like much when you just drive by. Don’t drive by. Stop and have 1 of many brews on tap. The menu really has some cool choices and sides I haven’t seen on any other menu. Bonus, they smoke their own meant. The brusque is awesome. Gotta go back soon.

Nice little bar by the dispensary. Went to grab a couple of beers with a buddy & they have an excellent craft beer selection. Didn’t eat, but tge menu looked good & the bartender said they don’t own a fryer so everything is smoked or grilled, which is good. Will definitely stop by again.

Just the kind of place I have been looking for and its 45 minutes from where I live. Love the selection of beer on tap. Beer is nice and cold out the tap. Keshia dis a good job of keeping my glass full! Food is tasty as well. Now to just find place like this in NE Phoenix.

On a recent trip to Apache Junction to visit my great grandma I was in search of a bar or restaurant with wifi where I could work remotely and hopefully get a good beer. I found the Handlebar and I could not have lucked out more. Five out of the six days I was in AZ you could find me here, laptop open, having the best time. First off, their beer selection is absurdly amazing. Coming from Portland OR I consider myself a bit of a beer snob, and this place has it all. The rotating taps are varied and fantastic, this is the sort of beer goldmine any snob would feel lucky to discover. They had multiple IPAs to satisfy my craving for hops, and they’re pretty liberal with the tasters, so try a couple before you decide! The staff are amazing, everyone is so welcoming and helpful. The fact that I would sit for 5 hours a day in their bar using their wifi and all the staff were genuinely happy to have me there(taking up space) was so kind, and is a mark of the welcoming atmosphere the place exudes. Becky and Dennis were especially great, very personable and alway quick with the pints! The food, wow. For an out of the way town in Arizona the menu was on point. Sautéed/grilled asparagus and brussel sprouts paired with feta and balsamic respectively, absolutely delicious! The smoked potato skins(available on Fridays/Tuesdays) were amazing as well. They have an outdoor cooking area where most(if not all?) the food is prepared and cooked right in front of you. No french fries, no fryer, not your traditional AZ bar fare here, everything is original and delicious. When I was pulling in to this place I had some serious doubts, from the outside it looks like your run of the mill roadside crap restaurant. This could not be farther from the truth. This place is a real gem, and it’s almost for the better that it doesn’t look like much from the street. I hope it can continue to be a hidden gem. There is an outdoor patio dining area that is funky and fun in the best way. If it’s not too hot(and you don’t need to plug a laptop into an outlet like I did) sit out there! I feel so lucky to have chanced upon the Handlebar Bar and Grill while down here in the Southwest. It was a real find that made working on the road so much easier and happier for me. Thank you so much to the staff of the Handlebar for dealing with me day after day this past week, it meant a lot and I hope to be back! Scratch that, I definitely will be back!

Super cute little place, the patio is amazing! Very casual and well put together. We didn’t eat but with 27 craft beers on tap we were more than fulfilled. I recommend the Sonoran White Chocolate ale brewed local in Phoenix, AZ. Will absolutely come again and try the food next time!

Feelin the desert sun after a trek in the Superstition Mountains or bonking a bit pounding knobby battered single tracks in the endless Sonoran terrain. Cozy and quaint place, feel the cool breeze under shade of a patio umbrella. Or cool off with AC inside. I dig the bamboo patio fencing. Cool atmosphere! 25 craft beers on tap(many local breweries to compare with my PDX stomping grounds) outta quench your parched lips and dry throat. Guzzle guzzle I’m a thirsty desert MTB bum! How about the grilled, that’s right, grilled pizza with ancient grain and spicy house sauce, mozzarella, provolone, feta, peppers, onions and black olives. Was X’lnt! Thin crunchy crust smothered with a sea of cheese! Got loads of burgers, steak, wild Alaskan salmon, stuffed peppers, and salad that looks tasty. Waitress says veggies are mostly local organic. Oh! They got Corn Hole — outdoor game too! Relax bub! Cool off! Chow down! Drink up! Guzzle brewski! Chow now!

The food, tap selection and environment were great. While on vacation we decided to try it. We were a little concerned about how it might be as we pulled up. Don’t let the outside fool you. It may seem like a hole in the wall but trust me the inside doesn’t disappoint. We were there on Tuesday night. The special was smoked wings and they were fantastic. My wife had a steak salad and it was also great. If you’re in the area I would highly recommend trying this place.

I have lived in AJ on and off for 20 years and until today never stopped in to the Handlebar. I have to say at first I was not impressed. I ordered a coke and was given a can and a glass of ice.(Later found that I was charged $ 2.50 for that can of coke) I ordered the mushroom burger with a side of handlebar potatoes and once I got the food I was pleasantly surprised. One of the best burgers I’ve had and the potatoes were awesome. Get soda on tap, adjust the price of it and this would be a five star review.

I have been coming to the Handlebar off and on for about 2 years now. Eating here is literally like eating in your backyard at a backyard BBQ. Sitting outside under the stars with the warmers is like sitting by the fire. The décor really makes it feel like you are at home, relaxing in your own yard. The other guests are friendly and easy going. I personally love the laid back atmosphere and feeling like I am at home, without having to cook or get my own beer. :) It is small area, but this is a true family run establishment, which I definitely enjoy patronizing. The food is fantastic(a little pricey, but delicious), they have daily specials; the rib special on Friday is my favorite, smoked rubs with mouth watering dry rub, and a side of BBQ sauce to dip it, the bark is great, everything about the ribs is NOMNOMNOM time. Their specials do tend to run out quick. So if you get there after 8 or so the special may no longer be available. Their sides are great, the potato wedges(also a Friday special) are awesome, asparagus is great(another reviewer said their veggies are soggy and they are, still tastes good…) and flavorful. They have 20+ beers on tap. My favorite is the Gulden Drak, which comes out of a Golden Dragon lol. It’s awesome to watch them pour it. They used to pour it in a nice mug only for the Gulden Drak, but now it comes in a regular glass. They also have a great wine selection, the wife is a major fan of Dr. Loosen a German Riesling and we always have to go to Total Wine and More in Gilbert to ever find it. Well they have it here and is a nice Riesling. They have live music on the weekends, the band is an old school/old timer band and they sound great and do a great rendition of Johnny Cash. The staff has always been friendly and they actually go out of their way to make you feel welcome and part of their family. The owner is a nice older gentlemen who will stop at your table and just shoot the sh*t with you. His daughter in law Megan(sp?) has an excellent memory and is fun to talk to and hang out with. IE I hadn’t been back in a year(I used to go every Tuesday where they had a dollar off any draft) as the people who I would go with moved away and I had just had a baby. Anyways, the wife and I went back for the first time 1−22−16 with a couple of friends. We got there between 8−830PM and they ran out of ribs, which was damned disheartening. However, Meagan came by our table and recommended the Green Chili Burger, which was fantastic, could have been a little spicier, maybe add jalapenos to is, but was still damned good and filling. It had a chipotle aioli sauce, green chilis, pepper jack cheee, and the burger was actually cooked to the level you wanted, in my case a Medium. So after eating and talking to her and have a good time. We came back last Friday 1−29−16 and Megan came by our table and remembered our names, we were like WOW! Who does that anymore? Well the Handlebar does! When I was a kid I used to watch Cheers all the time, and I did want a place where they would remember your name, and the Handlebar does! It felt awesome! So with such a great review why am I giving it 4 out of 5 stars you ask? Well dear reader who is super patient for getting this far or is a skimmer, lol. They do not offer fountain drinks, all non-beers come in a bottle, and as such there are no free refills. So I am docking a star for that. Otherwise this really is a 5 out of 5. This is a nice gem in AJ and the only place in AJ I will eat at!

I can’t believe I found this Jewel in apache junction. This place has great food and craft beers and very good prices. An outdoor kitchen which I found to be well run and absolutely sanitary. Very nice people in a great environment. A hudge patio and the wonderful aroma of the wonderful food fills the air. They also have live entertainment in the evenings. The staff is fast attentive and very courteous. I’ll be back again and again. The best in AJ I have found!!!

A gourmet burger place in AJ. The green chili burger is quite tasty. The smoked chicken salad also quite good. Sides are generally unusual and good. Everything is a bit pricey($ 12 burgers w a side), but you’re paying a bit for ambience.

Decent food although a bit hyped up and extremely meager portions, good draft beer selection(Guinness!), competent, friendly service and lots of outdoor seating. I’d come back but only for a pint or two, then I’d head a few miles south for some delicious Thai food. Good times in AJ.

We love this place, been there 3 times and planning to go back. Great beer selection though they do run out of some flavors every now and again. Sit at the bar outside and watch the chefs at work. They are very personable and willing to talk to you about the food or anything else. The stuffed pasilla pepper is out of this world as is the sweet potato. No windows inside so it is a little dark but after all, it is a bar. The help is nice and responsive but sometimes the place seems understaffed and the wait staff is really moving.

Who would of thought that Apache Jct. would have such a great pub. The craft beer list is always amazing & the food is excellent. The staff are welcoming, friendly, & professional. If you haven’t been here you need to! Remember, don’t judge a book from its cover. The same goes for eating establishments. Everything about this place is incredible; waitstaff, food, beer selection, charm and musical entertainment. Never been disappointed coming here. Some of my favorites are their pecan smoked ribs, smoked acorn squash(side dish), peppercorn burger, blue cheese potato salad, cole slaw with blue cheese and pecans. The beer selection is extensive and there usually is a daily special of $ 3/pint.

Overall, decent place. Lets start with the positive — comfortable place, servers are adorable, and its an easy place to hang out. Food, is OK. The Southwest Chicken Panini is rock solid! Seriously, a great sandwich. One of the few drawbacks or negatives(which is easily fixable) are some of the cooking techniques on the veggies — hint* they shouldn’t be soggy! My husband had one of the burgers — aside from the smaller size, the flavor was totally on point. I mean, REALLY great flavor! We have not decided if we will go back but still — all in all, not a bad place.

So, we were looking for a new place to try. After reading all the favorable 4 and 5 star recommendations we decided what the hell let’s try it. I can only guess that the owners PAID people to make good reviews. Place is tiny, dark, stinky. They have no fountain soda and the food ALL tastes way to much of smoke. Really SEVENTY-FIVE dollars for dinner in AJ??? Wish they had minus stars because that would be my pick. NEVEREVER again!!!

Everything I could ask for in a restaurant. A couple clients of mine frequent The Handlebar, and highly recommended that I try it. My best friend and I came in on a Friday evening for a drink, and some food. The restaurant was full, but some of the regulars at the bar were kind enough to shift around in order to fit us in. I noticed that the employees were acknowledging most of the customers by their first names, so I knew it was going to be my type of place. Judging the book by it’s cover, I expected The Handlebar to be a little run down but I was proven wrong. The inside is extremely clean, and cozy. They have a rotating beer menu, and there are 100’s of different handles that decorate the ceiling. They also offer gluten-free substitutes for the hypochondriac in your life. As soon as we were seated, the bartender David came to greet us, and gave us the rundown of the restaurant. He informed us that they are a beer and wine bar, but at the time they were featuring a cranberry juice based cocktail, that the name I forget. We both had two. David also explained that the food they serve is organic, and locally sourced, I loved the sound of that! I had a steak which came with a side of their smoked potato skins, and a side of my choice, which was coleslaw. Everything was perfect. Our food came out surprisingly fast, due to the amount of people there. We stayed for about 2.5 hours enjoying our drinks and girl time, and David never let us feel forgotten. We let him know that we would definitely be returning, and we will.

This place is amazing. They have the best gluten-free menu I have seen in a restaurant and they’re regular, gluttonous food is amazing. Must-tries are the peppercorn and green chilli burgers and they’re sides couldn’t be more authentic if they tried. Also, the atmosphere is wonderful and they’re beer list is one of the most extensive in this part of AZ. Can’t fault it.
