I’m so sad that they are no longer here. I called to book my normal, and they are all in Murfreesboro now. I’m Super Bummed. Great Students but I’m Too Lazy to travel.

Made an appointment around noon for a 3:00 hair cut today. Thought it was strange that the receptionist didn’t ask how to spell my name, for my phone number, or ask if I wanted a phase 1 or 2 student. But she asked my name and said «got it» when I started spelling my last name, so i figured she looked me up in their computer database. Anyways… I went on to the salon and — what a surprise — the receptionist didn’t have me scheduled in!!! The 2 women at the desk told me they were already running behind today and wouldn’t have time to fit me in. Awesome! Thanks for making me waste my gas and time today.

I was extremely excited to go to the School and have my hair done. My sister has gone here for years. When I scheduled my original appointment I specifically asked for a phase 2 student because I wanted to go blonde and I know I needed to lift my roots. I have been doing this for years so I know my hair can be tricky. When I arrived I was handed off to a phase one student who had only been on the floor two weeks and I was her first color. She began lifting my color but was not given clear direction on how long and what toner to use and how long that was to stay on. I came in wanting a light blonde/​platinum color and left with orange on top and ash/​violet on the bottom. The lady helping out the students acknowledged that my hair was not correct and said I could come back in a few days to have them fix it for me. As I was there from 9:30−4 and needed to get home to my kids. So when I went to pay the lady at the front desk told me I would be paying for them to fix it at my next appointment. I couldn’t believe it. I have had my hair professionally done for years and never told I had to pay to fix what I didn’t ask for. She then went on to tell me at a regular salon it would cost ⁶⁰⁰⁄₇₀₀ dollars to lighten my hair. I’m from Los Angeles and have never paid more than 120 to have my hair done so I am not sure why she would say a outrageous number like I should thank them for messing my hair up and then making me come back to pay and fix it because they are saving me money. ;(really!!! The girl who did my hair was extremely nice and I felt really sorry for her. She tried her best but like I said. I was told I would have a phase 2 student and half way through I find out she is phase one with no color experience. I am going back Tuesday and will update how it turns out. Really hoping they don’t charge me to fix there mistake. It would be bad business.

The quality of service is superb. Both instructors and students have a high level for attention to detail. Atmosphere of the space is energetic, modern with a great juxtaposition of tranquility when you go into the wash bar. Will be coming back again.

Students who are eager to display their talent. They know exactly how to guide you in all your hair care needs. The front desk staff is snobby and unprofessional, so they could use a little training but they’re young and in an upbeat setting so there’s some give and take with that. Otherwise for services, I do recommend this place!

I was torn between 3 stars and 4, the reason is that it takes FOREVER to get anything done, but it’s cheap and they usually do a great job. You seriously can’t beat the price, but you pay for it with your time. I got the heartbreaker special (Keratin treatment, color, cut and a bag of products) girl, it took 4.5 hours! Sheesh, BUT she did a fabulous job. I was actually really impressed with this girl and the past 2 girls I’ve used. I’d say don’t hesitate if you have the time. Oh and one star down because that bag of products? Blonde Ambition. Um… I’m like the opposite. Oh well, it’ll make a good gift for some blonde person I know.

Excellent customer service, professional treatment. Masha is a superior color specialist. Highly recommend Paul Mitchell School. Price is awesome.

eeeerrmagaaad. I always tell myself I’m never going in here again, but then I get rushed and go. Le sigh.
So, I needed to just get my bangs trimmed quick, because I just HAD my haircut, and my bangs grow superquick. I just ran in here without an appt. and asked if they took walk-​ins. They said they could fit me in. After a short wait, my stylist did a very nice job on my bangs. She gave me a lovely blow-​out. Then she offered to flat-​iron my hair. I asked if that was extra, as I’m on a budget. She said it would be free, on her.
She was half-​way through my hair, when the front desk girl (who was new) walks by and says «We’ll be adding $ 5 to your bill for that flat-​iron styling.» My stylist just stayed silent. It irritated me. This type of thing has happened EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I have been there! This was the last straw. It’s not so much the money as the principle. Don’t tell me one thing and do another. It’s confusing and it seems shady.
I can’t STAND this place!
Never going back again! Even if I have to drive all the way over to Ulta.

For a woman, I’m totally lazy getting my hair cut. I get mine at least every 6 months-​year. I can already hear the hair gurus smhing at me for poor haircare habits. I know, I know. I have a simple good reason though: My ass is BROKE! $ 50 to go into a salon? Especially if it’s gonna grow right back to the way it was in 9 – 12 weeks? Umm, no thanks! I rather buy delicious food with that paper.
Well, I finally found a temporary solution to the expensive haircut problem.
I joke around with my «ghetto» friends that I finna gets my hair did today!
«Where?,» they ask.
I reply, «All up in da A, shawty at Paul Mitchell!»
Gotta love my endearing ghetto dialect. Sort of. Because Antioch’s hood.
Anyway, this is the place to go to get yo nails done, hair done, everythang did!
I have to admit that this place is kinda hidden. keep your eyes peeled for a small Paul Mitchell: The School sign that’s the size of a For Sale sign in front of a house. The first time I got lost for 20 minutes because I overlooked it.
On the outside, it looks like a school. Duh. However, when you step inside this place, it’s so different. It feels like a large dance party salon studio with TVs of artsy fashion stuffs going on and music booming. So chic. Everyone’s wearing black. It’s fun to see the people working in their own personal hair and clothing style choices.
These are all students who are under teacher supervision. You don’t know who they are until you meet them in person. They are nice and friendly making casual small talk with you. Some are a little nervous, which is completely understandable. I’d be too if I was touching a stranger’s locks.
$ 10 or $ 15 for a haircut. This includes washing your hair in a separate Lady Gaga Bad Romance’s first scene looking room, titled Bath Haus (if I can recount correctly) in warm water with temple massages and styling it afterwards. It’s a pretty good deal. I’ve my haircut here many times and have been pleased with the results. That’s saying a lot since I’m one of those folks who aren’t used to haircuts because I don’t like change, but I tell myself to get over it since it’ll grow back. Plus, at least I’m not getting it shaved like Britney Spears when she was mental breakdown cray.
I have gotten my hair highlighted too. last time it was for $ 38, which is a STEAL with my long, straight black hair that takes forever to do with two students working on it.
I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’ve an uppity diva attitude or you suck at planning. So, here’s a couple of tips:
–If you don’t schedule an appointment aka do a walk-​in, especially on their busy days. expect to be patient.
–The students take a long time because they are learning on the job and checking up with their instructors to make sure everything’s correct. I find it helpful to get a Phase 2 instead of a Phase 1 student. They are generally faster and if you don’t mind spending a little bit more money.
If you feel that your student has done a great job, then tip them! :) Make sure you have a lot of time to kill to try this place out!

Is this a hair salon/​school or a club? I’m really not sure. The place has club music blaring, a disco ball, and a bunch of young girls and gay men* wearing all black running around. While I was there I even heard the club classic, ‘Sandstorm’, circa 2001. Sandstorm! I’m not complaining about the atmosphere, I just found it to be kind of funny. It almost made me want a ring pop and some glow sticks. The salon itself is very big and very loud. Between the loud music and the sound of hair dryers I could barely hear my stylist. Of course, I probably have hearing loss due to my own club days.
I asked the girl for very natural highlights and that is exactly what I got. They are *almost* unnoticeable but I would much rather have her be on the conservative side rather than paint obvious stripes on my head.
Overall I’m happy with my service and the girl was nice, although I did feel a little neglected at times as I sat waiting to be shampooed and waiting for my color to process. But for $ 35 highlights I can certainly deal with that. Just keep in mind this is a school and these boys and girls are still learning. I’ll definitely be back.
* men may or may not actually be gay. :)

If you can find a student you really like (and make appointments with this particular student each time), this place is a winner for cheap haircuts, color, and waxing. I started going here when I was unable to find a regular stylist. But be warned: Going means you’re going to sit for quite a while because each student must have their work checked by a licensed instructor. Color can take especially long. It’s great for a Saturday morning if you have time to kill but maybe not for a weeknight.
The key is remembering they’re students. Be patient, and chances are you’ll come out with great results for not a whole lot of money.

I’ve received a facial, a haircut and highlights with the students at Paul Mitchell. The worst I’ve ever walked away from there is looking like nothing had really changed — a pretty glowing review for a bunch of noobs!
The facial room looks a little like a morgue when you first walk in, but once you close your eyes it’s as relaxing and quality as any spa or medi-​spa I’ve ever been too!
As for the haircuts/​color — I def recommend asking for the ‘Phase 2′ students. These are the kids about ready to graduate. Its a little but more, but still dirt cheap and worth it. Out of the 4 hair cuts I’ve gotten there over the years (usually I go to another local salon, but sometimes a girls a little broke) 2 were fantastic, one I was alright with but had to trim a little myself and one cut basically looked like she hadn’t done a thing. I think she was nervous — that was the only time I let a Phase 1 student work on my hair.
Overall, if you aren’t super picky about your ‘do — I recommend saving a few bucks and trying these guys out! They offer tons of services you can look into on the website.

Found this place to be a life saver! I’d just spent $ 100 for a haircut in Detroit over the weekend and realized come Monday morning that my hair was too short for me to do anything with it.
Being that most salons are closed on Monday’s I panicked because I didn’t want to face the folks at my new job looking like a wild woman.
After a tip that the school was opened on Monday’s, I called for an emergency appointment. Josh, I believe was the name of the angel who penciled me in, informed me that I could be seen in an hour.
When I arrived I was greeted and was in their glorious shampoo room within 15 minutes! The deep washing and soothing scalp massage alone was worth the trip to Antioch. After relaxing in the shampoo chair surrounded by calming sounds and a soothing waterfall, I nearly fell asleep… I could’ve stayed in there forever!
My stylist Christina was great. The price certainly can’t be beat.
Cool atmosphere, being there made me want to enroll!

I visited Paul Mitchell School and had a great experience! I had my hair done and for the price I paid and the fun I had there, I would defintely go back again. I am not as meticulous about my hair as some may be… give me a good cut and I can style it and make it look good. There is great music playing, the girls (and guys) look great and excited to be there, and who can beat a $ 10 haircut. Highly recommend.

I just had a wonderful facial that was so relaxing. Though this is a school I found Shina Lewis to be as good, if not better than some of the estheticians that have been in the business for years.

Home of the $ 10 haircut! Okay, so when you take into consideration you’re dealing with a student, not a licensed beautician, this is the BEST deal for your money. I’m not all that concerned about my hair, it’s fairly easy to deal with and I can only count on one hand the bad haircuts I’ve had in my adult life so I’m pretty easy-​going and trusting right off the bat with my hair dressers. Paul Mitchell students did not disappoint and I’d highly recommend going here for whatever you need done if you don’t want to pay an arm and a leg. I know I’ll be returning in 4 – 5 weeks!
