I don’t smoke cigarettes but I do occasionally need cash back. I stopped in to see if I could get cash back which the gentleman behind the counter said I could. Because I’m not a terrible person, I decided to buy a couple candy bars and some powerball tickets as well. I went to pay and told the lady at the cash register I needed $ 5 cash back. «Okay,» she said, and proceeded to punch a bunch of numbers into her register, whatever. She took so long I started reading the signs taped to the counter — one of them said debit $.49. Anyways, got my cash and my candy and left. I went to throw my receipt away and I noticed it said CASHBACK $ 6 on it. I thought it was a mistake so I went back inside to get my dollar. The lady looked at me and I told her, «this receipt says $ 6.» She then looked at me like I was crazy and told me there is a $ 1 fee for cash back. Neither her nor the gentleman said anything about this fee when I asked them, and I think it comes across as a little suspect when it’s included in your cash back amount, don’t you? Plus, the M&Ms I got were stale. I checked the expiration date and they were best by 6⁄2014. Cheers. Edit: my Starburst are also stale. I bet this powerball ticket they sold me is a loser, too!
