Established in 1999.

Auto Diagnostic & Repair has been serving Antioch and the entire bay area since 1999. Today’s vehicles are computerized and involve complex systems, more sophisticated than they’ve ever been. Ever since Brian was a baby, he has been taking things apart to see how they work. Today, with Brian’s natural instinct, years of automotive experience, and thousands of training hours have helped make him a leading expert in the field of Automotive Repair. His goal is to restore honesty and integrity to the Automotive Repair industry.

An ASE Master Technician, Brian has advanced certifications in undercar and engine performance, and he has spent over twenty years as an automotive technician. He has been an owner for 10 years, and loves repairing cars and getting people back on the road.

Brian is also a sports enthusiast, and claims wakeboarding, jiu-​jitsu and football as his personal favorites; but his passion is his family. He and his lovely wife Melissa, and four beautiful children: Brennen, Emily, Tony and Colette.

Auto Diagnostics & Repair was extremely helpful when my steering pump busted after a 16 hour drive from Santa Fe, New Mexico. I was in a different state, (california) and had to get my SUV fixed in 24 hours, they even ordered the parts from Reno and MADE IT HAPPEN! I am extremely satisfied and overjoyed at their willingness to DO WORK and make their customers happy. Definitely recommend.

I am very happy to have finally found an auto repair shop that I can trust.
You can see in my previous reviews I was swayed by some smooth talking with another auto repair place that has since gone out of business.
After much research on Unilocal I decided to give Brian and staff a chance at my business with my 13 yr old ride. I am glad I did and I now feel that I have a «go-​to» place for my auto repair and maintenance needs.
I also love the fact that Brian provides shuttle service to and from.

This is such a wonderful business! I am always treated as a family member. The work is prompt, thorough, and reasonable. The shop is clean and every question is always answered; pictures and bad parts are used to help me understand what is involved. It is so refreshing to deal with a business that practices this high level of integrity. Most important of all is that I feel safe driving my vehicle because of the services done by Auto Diagnostic.

I have used Auto Diagnostic and Repair several times to work on my cars. They are very skilled in their work. They will give you a shuttle ride to your work so that they can do what they do best and you can keep your day from being wasted.
The staff is friendly and will promptly return messages and schedule your next appointment for maintenance instead of making it your job to remember.
If you are looking for the cheapest option in town they are not right for you. They refuse to use generic parts that will fail much sooner than OEM parts. Once they fix something it stays fixed because they do not cut corners and they do it right the first time.
They reward their loyal customers with easy ways of getting oil changes for free and they have a car club that will reduce your yearly maintenance cost.
I will continue to use Auto Diagnostic and repair and I am sure I will continue to get great service.

I brought my vehicle in for a diagnostic test. It ended up needing a new timing belt. They were fair and upfront with everything. Nobody likes surprises when it comes to car mechanic shops.
The customer service was amazing. At a time like that, it’s very comforting to receive such friendly and professional service.

I got ripped off too. I took my car in with a check engine light for a mass air flow sensor but I had just replaced it myself so I needed a professional to check it out. After the car was there all day they called and said they could replace the mass air flow sensor for $ 500 but «that may not be the problem»??? Great diagnosis guys.
They also charge by the specific «diagnosis» job rather than by the hour like every other shop I have been to. So I was charged almost $ 200 for a grease monkey to hold a multimeter up to my air sensor and try to sell me a part for five times its actual cost that I just replaced. They also tried to sell me the housing which is a plastic tube with a metal screen in it which it did not need. Absolutely nothing wrong with it.
These guys will try to squeeze every last dollar they can get from people who don’t know about cars/​parts. The customer service lady was nice but these guys give mechanics a bad name. I left minus a days pay and no insight whatsover about what the problem was. Complete BS stay away.

I have been bringing my vehicles to Auto Diagnostic for many years. The thing I appreciate about them is that I know their goal is to get your vehicle back to «like new» status, not just «band aid» the problem like many other mechanics.
They have always been able to troubleshoot the problem and fix it for the quoted price. I feel the pricing has been fair and that the problem is fixed when they’re done. I drive a lot so I appreciate their ability to make my car mechanically as reliable as possible.

Once again, Auto Diagnostics and Repair out did themselves! Had a problem with my undercarriage and called them from Concord and they had me drive right over, took me right in and did a great job! This place is awesome! Three ladies work at the front desk and that makes it very personal. They take care of my needs in a timely manner and they always offer a ride to and from the shop. They give a rose when they are done! who does that? what a great way to end the job! They offer free oil change if I refer a friend. Brian, the owner is very involved in the community and I appreciate that. I have never seen an auto repair shop care about the community. I recommend you give him a chance to show you what an honest and professional environment has has created. They follow up with a thank you note in the mail and a phone call to ensure my satisfaction. I also love receiving a newsletter from them in the mail. They just have lots of little things that keeps me as a happy customer.

Took my car here and was completely ripped off.
Took three weeks to get my car back and although it ran fine (broken transmission sensor light was the reason it was brought in) they threatened to tow my car to a lockup yard if I didn’t agree to extra repairs on my front end suspension.
Worst thing was, the transmission sensor that they supposedly fixed was broken again within a week. After being denied access to my car for three weeks simply to have a sensor light replaced, and then being scammed for extra repairs, there was no way I was going back.
Liars and thieves. Worst repair shop ever.

The last time I was at this repair shop was a couple of years ago on a recommended link from another vendors website I frequent. Although I found their prices a little on the high side, their service was good and very friendly, especially from the big/​tall bold headed mechanic,(sorry I forgot his name). He was very good and friendly.
I recently went back a couple of weeks ago to find that they have expanded and all the original staff are no longer working. After talking to a rude office worker who would not answer my questions i asked to speak to the owner (I forget his name), the guy behind the counter (Scott) rudely told me that he was not around, that he was the service adviser and in charge!
Service adviser? If i want that kind of customer service I will send my vehicle to a real dealership where I can be abused and ripped off by real service advisers. As I left, I don’t k now who said it (there were several people in the office) commented, «we’re the only game in town». I also noticed that none of the new workers were smiling, not even music was playing in the service bays as before… just all business, hey just like an auto dealership with serviced advisers.
The bottom line, I’m sure they can fix your vehicle, they must since they have expanded from several years ago. But for me its more than just being able to service your car, customer service says a lot and judging by the negative comments on Unilocal,I’m not alone in that thought

Honesty, quality workmanship and fair prices… these are the top three things I look for in an auto mechanic. At this point, I not only bring my personal vehicles to Auto diagnostic & Repair, but I’ve turned my boss on to them for our small fleet of work vehicles.
I’ve met the owner, Bryan, who is a really great guy and his staff is just as friendly. There’s a real positive feel at Auto Diagnostic that makes you almost want to return which is a little unusual being this is an auto shop.
This shop is pretty clever in their marketing approach because they’ll send you monthly flyers with contests where you can win things like giant flat panel TV’s for sending them new customers — but get this (!) — the new customer gets a free oil change! Yeah! Send them somebody who gets a service they need for free and you get a chance to win an awesome prize.
The approach here is smart and it’s a win-​win for everybody. My car humms and if I win a TV, I’ll be humming too! Overall, their an outstanding shop. They do great work, they’re honest, and they’re really good to their customers.

My experience here had been unlike others. I was recommended to go here from a church member of mine, but will never be returning again. The people are very friendly, but the timing was very horrible. Scott never called back during the time he promised, he cut me off in every conversation we shared.
My car was having a radiator problem and Scott told me it would 88 dollars to do a testing on it. Then I had to call him back for the results and he said it appears that you need new radiators hoes, thermostat, and antifreeze which is going to run you about 484 dollars. So I said. «Um okay…» Then he said I needed a new starter and a new radiator because the radiator seemed to be leaking. but they weren’t sure because the car didn’t start, mind you the car started when I took it to the shop. I ended up having to tow my car to another car repair shop to fix the starter and the radiator.
When I received my paper work back all the parts cost $ 163, but the labor was $ 306… This shop is horrible, they sound very friendly but all they cared about was making money. They took my car 7÷1÷11 and I just received it yesterday 7÷8÷11 … They seemed as if they didn’t care about who or what I needed because they were very non-​nonchalant. I also felt very targeted because I am black. I have lived in Antioch, since the day I was born and felt that I was being taken advantage of, I recommend this shop to no one.

I have two older cars that have been largely neglected Auto Diagnostic was great and helping me figure out what needed to be done and set a priority list as to what to do ASAP and what could wait.
No pressure to do it now but just the information to make an informed decision. I feel like for the first time I’ve got a handle on the shape of my cars and understanding and staying on top of routine maintenance.
Very friendly and helpful staff. I would never go anywhere else!
