What happened to Antonios? Antonio’s was always our«go to place». Tonight was disappointing. Our waiter did his best but when we ordered pizza, at 7 pm, after some apps, we were told that they were out of cheese for the pizza. What? Even if they were out of cheese, why wouldn’t you tell us before we sat down or before we ordered anything? The room was so cold half of our group kept their jackets on while they ate. There didn’t seem to be a manager on duty. When I said the room was cold, the employees agreed, it was cold. On a side note, it would be good if someone checked the ladies room. Really, toilet tissue that is lying on the ground? It is time for Antonio and me to break up, it just isn’t worth the money.

A classic family feud that has ruined a decent restaurant. Two brothers own their own Original Antonio’s”. The Ansonia one was acquired by the other brother leaving him with Southbury and(I think) Beacon Falls. Ansonia got taken over by the Woodbridge brother. This place is a joke. Ten people in the whole place and it took 20 min for our waiter to greet us. Was served ice cold bread. My husband is lactose intolerant and can only handle certain aged cheeses. He ordered a grinder with Gorgonzola and insisted that there should be no mozzarella. It comes out so dry he couldn’t tell what kind of cheese. I took one look and knew it was mozz. If you can’t handle 10 people on a Monday, call it a day. One star only because I’m forced to.

Went here the other night w the family. Service was good and friendly and catered to the kids a bit paper and crayons. I had the broccoli Rabe w sausage and white beans, had them switch out rigatoni for the cavetelli which they did without skipping a beat, it was delicious. Far better than a few other local restaurants. My wife had the cheese ravioli she enjoyed it as well. My daughter had the kids chicken, again is was very good, good quality chicken and perfect portion. My son had kids pizZa. Which was good as well although it was way to big. So really my only suggestion to the restaurant would be to maybe serve a bar pie for the kids meal, it would have filled him up just fine and maybe cost the restaurant a little less. Overall we enjoyed it and would go back.

We went there with another couple and we all really enjoyed our meals. I had the chicken Marsala and it was delicious. They even made it for me without flour so that it would be gluten free

5 stars! This little gem in Ansonia was a delight for our New Years Eve Dinner. The service provided was fantastic and always accompanied by A smile, which couldn’t have been easy with our group of 25. From the bruschetta, calamari and lamb chop starters to the pasta, steaks and chicken Marsala, not one of us found anything to complain about. The food was just delicious! We had a great night… Thank you!

It’s not the same as when it first opened. I want this place to be good and I hope the owners read the online reviews. I enjoy coming down here and I like the vibe. We all ordered a glass of wine and I had the malbec. It was bad, it had to be sitting not properly capped for a few days. I told the waiter he should throw out the rest of the bottle and hopefully he did. They took the wine off the check. The fried calamari was good, very light and crispy. I had the«maile», homemade pappardelle with a wild mushroom pork ragu. When they first opened they offered a very similar dish that was soooooo much better, in this one the sauce was way too sweet and there was way too much sauce. In the old dish the pork was shredded and this one was just cut up. This one lacked flavor, all I could taste was sweet red sauce. New chef? We had the freshly made donuts with 3 different sauce for dessert, the donuts were a bit too heavy for us and the chocolate sauce tasted like a bottled product, the raspberry sauce was good. I’m sure they were all bottled products. The decaf coffee was very very week. The place was crowded and there was a wait for tables, they are still bringing folks in but I think they need some tweaking. It will be awhile before I go back.

Antonio’s is busy 6 nights a week because. This is not a fluke, everything on their menu is fantastic. They always have tempting specials, regularly switch up their beer on tap and creative drink specials. My favorite Italian restaurant.

I’ve never sat in this restaurant for lunch or dinner, my only experience was take out. The portions are massive for the price they charge but I thought the caesar salad was delicious(app enough for 2 people). The pizza was delicious, spaghetti and meatballs were good but nothing special. I’d choose this place over apollos any day, but I’d rate the food 8⁄10(based on take out). The staff were very friendly and my food is always ready when I arrive. Overall def a Italian spot worth checking out.

I really have a difficult time understanding where these good reviews are coming from, initially they had me doubting my own views of this establishment. But no. Don’t be fooled by the masses for they are near sighted at best! This place from the outside looks to be an old strip club, the ambiance sitting at the table reinforces that belief as well. We were greeted by a team of two, a server and her shadow, then did not see our server again until she took the payment. The chefs were not sure what their dumplings were made of… That’s a red flag to me. All in all The shrimp and lobster cocktail had a horseradish vodka sauce that did not work at all, it was fairly gross actually. The Antonio rigatoni was ok at best The veal was rubber, I had to spit a piece out because there was such a big piece if unchewable cartilage in it I couldn’t swallow the bite… And BEWARNED!!! They do not know what risotto is!!! They have risotto on the menu but ITISNOTRISOTTO!!! How do you mess up risotto???

I love this place! Everything I’ve had is delicious. The vodka sauce has to be my favorite, I’ve had it over ravioli and penne. I’ve also had their Bucatini Pasta, the goat cheese was such pleasant surprise. Even their happy hour is awesome! The bartenders are nice and know their regulars very well! I have now been stopping by more frequently for their HH specials, the white wine sangria is a must.

This place is my haven especially when they have happy hr. The food is excellent, been here about 5 times already, 1st time I had a Grilled chicken Caesars wrap sandwich… delicious! Second time, I had the crab cakes for appetizers, they bring you 2 big crab cakes that’s filled with crab, very filling. I highly recommend the vongol dish, its linguini with chunks of clams in a garlic white sauce and they give you about a dozen of shell clams to go to with it. My opinion, best choice on the menu. The customer service is excellent too. Also if you have kids, the pizza is awesome.

My family and I occasionally order their weekend special and you get a lot of food for a really good price. You can feed 4+ people for just $ 25! I’ve also reserved a room here for a graduation party and it went fairly well. The only complaints I have is that they cooked a wrong main course(ordered trays of chicken parm and got chicken marsala instead), however they did make the proper dish afterwards. I also felt that the waiters should have gone around more and asked if anyone wanted something to drink instead of one of my family members having to hunt them down to get drink orders(we had around 25+ people). I’ve only had a normal sit-down dinner here once and it was alright. Our waiter didn’t seem too enthused to be working and it really showed. I understand having bad days, we’ve all had them, but you have to try not to let it show to your customers. Our drinks took a really long time to get to us and our waiter forgot to refill our bread, another waiter actually came over to refill it instead. The food was good and piping hot. However, we were surprised that we didn’t get a salad with our entrees. Most other restaurants we’ve been to, Italian or not, offer a salad with your entrée. And for the price of each meal, it should have come with either a salad or at least put more on the plate. Regardless, I’d definitely come back here, but I think just for quick take-out or their weekend specials.

Liked, but didn’t love. We made reservations for a Saturday night and still got stuck in the tiniest little table by the bar. With people standing at the bar, and people trying to get past them, they might as well have been sitting ON our table. If we hadn’t made reservations, I wouldn’t have cared so much… but I feel like when you have the foresight to call ahead of time, you should at least get better placing than that. I was also rubbed the wrong way by the hostess. We arrived literally 8 minutes before our reservation time and she acted like we were there an hour early. It’s OK if you can’t seat us just yet, but you don’t have to act like we’re putting you out. The food was pretty solid — fried calamari was spot on, pollo caprese is recommended! My wife had a salmon dish that she liked very much. There wasn’t anything bad about our experience, but I’m in no rush to go back. If I’m going to eat in the Ansonia/Derby area, you can find me at Crave or Twisted Vine.

This was my second time at Antonio’s and was really looking forward to it as I loved it the first time I went. Well the second time I was a bit disappointed. I ordered oranchini appetizer(rice balls) and what I got was a more like a breaded meatball. It was ground beef, peas and carrots rolled and then dropped into bread crumb and fried. Not one spec of rice in it! My dinner was cavatelli with shrimp and spinach. It was just ok. My girlfriend had the vegetable lasagna and chicken parm which was very good. the prices are good, the food hit or miss. I’m willing to go again in hopes it was just an off night. I would not travel from far away to come here but if you live in the valley Antonio’s is good for a night you don’t want to trek to new haven. Will not order rice balls again though. Oh and for desert I got the bag of donuts, yummy!

very very good, was here 2 weeks ago and the only knock was we had a very inexperienced server. Must have been his first day or something(didn’t know how to open a bottle of wine) he was pleasant, but not particulary good at his job. I had the Pork chops and there were divine!

We CATERED a family event and purchased the food from The Original Antonios. Everything we ordered was fresh, delicious and wonderfully prepared. We got eggplant parm, breaded chicken cutlets with lemon, ziti with broccoli and a large antipasto. The antipasto tray was huge and gorgeous, with loads of marinated mushrooms and red peppers, fresh asparagus & mozzarella and much more. We were totally satisfied and Chris, the owner, was very easy to work with. AND they delivered. Next time I’m passing through this area I’m going to check out the restaurant.

About a month ago, the venue where my sister’s baby shower was going to be held could no longer accommodate our party of 45 peaople. I was a wreck, called my mom and she said, «It’s 9 o’clock at night. I’ll check some places online.» The next morning, she had said that there was a place in downtown Ansonia called the Original Antonio’s and as a child our family would go to Antonio’s in Oxford. She gave a call and we were told we could come down anytime and just ask for Chris or Corinne. We went down that day and spoke to Chris. He really made us felt like we mattered and was very easy to talk to. I was a wreck because of all the planning that had gone into the shower and I was now back to square one. Saturday, October 20, 2012 The day of the Baby Shower! Yes, I was a wreck again, because that’s just me, and Corinne the Manager kept everything running smoothly and I just followed her lead. She was extremely approachable and really cared. There was room in the refrigerator for our huge cake, the chicken Marsala and penne vodka were divine. The day turned out great. I can’t wait to go back and have lunch with my boyfriend. There were leftovers and we ate at my mom’s. The roast beef was the still tender and favorable, the penne didn’t dry out during reheating and the chicken did not have fat on it, like I’ve encountered at other restaurants. We would like to thank, Chris, Corinne, our server and the kitchen and bar staff. You all made this Auntie and Grammy to be very happy, and in the Valley, we all know word of mouth is golden. PROS: Daily special appetizer, homemade mozzarella with arugula, balsamic reduction, carmelized pears and pinenuts was outstanding! Flavored martinis were well made and generous. Veal saltimbocca was cooked just right. Hot bag of homemade donuts with 3 sauces was very good. All portions were generous. We used a Groupon and got a really good deal(tipped on the full price) but the meal we got was well worth it either way. No question … we’ll be back there soon :) Made a SAT6:30pm reservation(would have been tough to get in otherwise!). Staff pleasant and friendly. FYI: Waited about 20min to be seated. We had reserved /requested a booth(Note: only single-wide booths are available in the bar area where we sat; else what they call a «booth» is ½ a booth seat and dining partner sits on a chair, located in the crowded and rollicking dining rooms). CONS: Food took a while to arrive, which is OK, but water and drinks were a long time coming. Bread came promptly. Flow of service could have been better(e.g., getting utensils needed for next course that had already been served; taking order for one diner’s drink refill and dashing off without asking if second diner wanted a drink refill). Busy waitresses do have helpers who can help fill in some of the service gaps.

Our dinning experience was poor. The food came quick but the dirty dishes never got cleared. I had to go ask the hostess to get our table cleared and bring the kids thier free dessert. I was pissed. My wife told the waiter that we felt as if he forgot about us. They took 15% off the bill. This was on a weeknight too. The food was pretty good. The dinning area was small. expect to wait on weekends
