Debbie was a 25-​year public relations professional working in health care, higher education, health insurance, and state regulation. She is an active member of her community, serving for several years on the board of her community association and other city-​wide civic organizations.

Steve is a former reporter for The Sun newspaper in Baltimore who, in 23 years, covered education, the environment, energy policy, county politics, and radio and television. He is also a free-​lance writer and editor and is the author of four books
