Art Things is such an amazing art store! The people that work there are so helpful and they have an amazing selection! Don’t let the small outside appearance fool you, this place is packed with everything you could need as an artist and more, plus it’s multiple stories! I can’t wait to go back again!

Awesome place, surprisingly large on the inside, multiple floors of art supplies, from paper, brushes and pigments to doodle books and fun little treats for the artful sort.
The staff is quite knowledgeable and helpful, and they have some fantastic sales here and there.

Such a great little art store! It looks tiny from the outside, but they really know how to pack in inventory. First floor has everything from french arches to Chinese calligraphy brushes to art books for kids. Downstairs requires more digging– various large papers in racks or wooden drawers (Arches, Rives, lotka, mulberry papers). Not much for bookbinding supplies, which is what I was looking for (they have wheat paste and packaged Lineco bookcloth rolls), but I was impressed with how much they did have otherwise (I was fascinated with the drawer of portable pencil sharpeners). Staff is super nice + helpful!

Not average in any way, one of the super aspects at ‘Art Things’ is the service and expertise behind the counter. When helping a customer, they don’t even answer the phone! How novel. Yes, you will pay a bit more, but you can touch and try even some of their most expensive items. You can’t do that online. I like their inventory; they keep up with the new and good supplies, I might not have known. They’ve always had everything I’ve needed for my next project and interesting things for the kids, as well. It is an inspiration just to go there! Stop by and keep the chain stores wanting…

I like to buy from Art Things whenever I can. It’s great to have such a nice resource for art supplies in Annapolis. Their prices can be a little higher than buying online, but they carry a really interesting assortment of products and the staff is friendly, if a bit harried at times. I could spend hours sorting through the treasures they have squirreled away in this store. I was also impressed that after searching through all the major DC area art stores for Casein Paint (a hard to find medium), sure enough it was at only to be found at Art Things.

This is the best art supply store I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with. The staff are friendly, and extremely helpful. They don’t act like they expect you to buy everything they take time to show you and seem genuinely concerned about helping me get the most for my money. Plus they have lots of fun stuff, not just «serious» art supplies. I love it that they are locally owned, not a chain. It is a joy to shop there!

Has everything I’ve ever needed and it’s right down the road from me!

I’ve been buying colored pencils, books, paper, and all kinds of things at Art Things ever since I was a kid. I think it’s one of the best stores in Annapolis – it’s independently-​owned, in a great section of town with cafes and antique shops, and the people are wonderful. They also have a great selection of greeting cards for those who don’t need art supplies.

You need art supplies, you have found your place. Eclectic, independent store! They have everything from books on «how to», to origami, calligraphy, lithography, clay, pencils, architect supply, inks in every color, papers (hand made paper)… and some fun toys. they have some wonderful things, and from what I can tell they will order anything you need such as special mats for framing.
So go ahead keep this independent in business!

Part funk, part fun, all art… Art Things is a fantastic little gem of a supply shop that brings me back to my art school days. They have REAL art supplies, and the staff is very familiar with all mediums and canvasses.
Real paint, real canvas, real paper, real ink, real quality brushes, old fashioned tools you’ll never find in Michael’s…Art Things holds a plethora of artist’s goodies in it’s deceptively tiny dwelling.
They also have a great selection of gifts for the creatively inclined and fun little tchachkas by the front counter.
Even if you aren’t exactly the artsy-​fartsy kind… Art Things is a fun place to browse while your artistically inclined shopping partner is filling up his/​her basket. Check out the myriad of Mona Lisas smiling from every corner… inhale the linseed scented air (it’s an aphrodesiac, I hear.), and play with the weird toys.
This place is cool AND the place to go for hard-​to-​find, hard core art supplies.
