Was very disappointed with the autism clinic. How do they expect a child to interact with them when all that they have are broken blocks, a broken car and a spoon. What 2 year old boy wants to play with that. Plus they only do it 1 day at only 1 time, nap time. You can’t do an accurate evaluation when a child is overtired and you have broken crap toyS.

Easy to check in for never having been a patient here. Staff was very friendly. Valet parking made it very easy. Overall it was a pretty straight forward experience. Will definitely come back if I ever need to and will recommend to others.

This is a review, I must write. What an amazing hospital. Unfortunately a close family menber of mine suffered a brain stem stroke and was transfered here.
Everyone knows U of M is a very reputable, state of the art and one of the nations best hospital and medical centers in the country. I have to say their reputation is well deserved and no doubt awesome. The care and dedication I’ve witnessed in the past few weeks blows my mind.
The stroke unit team is simply amazing the nurses, specialist and whole staff so postive so upbeat, dedicated and kind. A multidisciplinary approach that benefits not only the patient but family as well.
I highly recommend this hospital! The postiive and caring staff make a difficult situation a bit more bearable and that means so much when a loved one is ill and struggling to hang on.
I can’t express how impressed and grateful I am.

This place is «HUGE!» When you are going be sure to get specific direction as where to park or you will find yourself doing an unexpected 5K? Most importantly, although I have never been a patient, all my family & friends who were, have received «TOP NOTCH» care! With UofM, you definitely have access to the newest technology in the medical field.

Overall my care has been excellent at U of M. Today I’m at the sleep clinic ice learned over 20 cancellations this morning and I’m now late seeing my dr. For appointment by over 20 minutes. I have an appointment elsewhere after this so I’m not impressed with this dr. honoring appointment time.

While sitting in the ER I had the privilege to overhear a nurse triage about a dozen patients. With every patient when she got to the symptom section and asked «Any diarrhea?» EVERY ONE said «Yes», «A little», «Yes, but it doesn’t have anything to do with while I’m here», «Kind of», «Umm, yeah. Some».
People, eat more fiber!

Giving a three because of the wait in ER. Got here via ambulance about 12:30. With 95 year old pt. IV in, xray and CT was completed about 2:30…now 5: 00 pm. Resident says it will be at least one more hour to get CT results. what? It is now 6:00pm…finally pain pill is here. No Dr. Yet, and CT has not been read so we wait.

I was taken to the U of M ER last week and the only thing I can say positive about the whole experience was the paramedic staff were very expedient, knowledgable, helpful and friendly. Upon arriving at the hospital I was treated as another faceless number, very sedated and incoherent the staff placed me in a wheel chair in the hall left to vomit all over myself and the floor. After one hour I was seen by a very ill mannered nurse with no patience. After another ½ hour or so I was escorted to a stretcher and placed out in the hallway with no privacy for 2 hours, my bed rails were left down. I never once was examined by a doctor, but then told I was being given a medication I was allergic to. I informed the nurse and she said oh your not wearing an allergy Id as if
It were my fault. The doctor changed the order and
After another hour I was given some medications but not fluids even though I had been vomiting non stop for several hours and had several bouts of
Diarrhea. I woke up to a nurse telling me
I was being discharged and
To go ahead and get dressed, I could barely comprehend what she was saying feeling very sedated I tried to get dressed and
Fell back asleep was awoke again by another nurse shaking me and
Asking me to get dressed. I wanted to cry, I
Didn’t even know how I was getting home yet or where my things were. I finally managed to dressed, and very wobbly and unstable I made my way to the waiting room as they asked. not even a wheel chair ride how unsafe. I would rather die than ever go to U OF M hospital again. With their reputation I would of thought I was going to the Ritz Carleton instead I checked into motel 6

This hospital was voted among the best nationally for a good reason. I had several procedures and surgery and have never been treated with such care and respect as a patient. Try getting the same level of care on the West coast or Florida and see how bad the care really is, that’s what makes
U of M the best!

I went to the ER first time in many years they’ve tripled the size. You do have to wait longer at U of M but they by far have more resources than other hospitals. I did receive amazing care by the nurses, doctors and staff. I was impressed by the fact that they only did they needed to do, which in turn led me to feeling better and to be discharged.
This was ordered by my dr after a previous stay at another hospital. So thankful for the sharing of information with ease (of after I signed the waiver, which I was pleased to sign) they could see all the tests previously run.
The room was very clean and organized.
My nurse was amazing I barely have a little bruise from where I was poked.

Being a gun shot survivor I spent several months (11 in 1985, 6 in 1994, 3 in 1997, 1 in 2014) in this hospital. All though this hospital is huge I loved roaming the halls while I had to be admitted. They have an EXCELLENT cafeteria and several healthy choices. I’ve dealt with several of the specialty doctors. The ONLY specialty office I wasn’t fond of was the OB/​Gyn; everyone else was great. They have every specialist you can think of for your care. When I was younger my parents were offered a place in the Ronald McDonald house across the street because of my extensive stay. Their social workers are amazing and helped me get the adaptive equipment I needed when I went home.

I wasn’t happy about having to go to the ER straight from the plane on the first day of vacation. However the whole staff was extremely supportive. It turned out to be two cracks is my left 5^th metatarsal. What surprised me the most was that they accepted my insurance even though I had out of state Blue Cross. Such a relief to know I wasn’t leaving with a giant bill. Even my crutches and prescription were covered.

My daughter has short bowel syndrome and after spending 6 months at Northwestern in Chicago, we fired them and took her to University of Michigan where they were able to solve her health and growth issues. We have a wonderful team who communicates with us to achieve the common goal of getting my daughter to a healthy life. Thanks UofM.

Had to make yet another trip to the ER. U of M’s was packed on this particular night but intake was pretty quick. Once I was assessed of my particular health issues I took a seat. I was called back pretty quickly for a blood draw which was a new procedure for me. At least they got the ball rolling faster than I had been used to in the past. I went back to the waiting room and was called back into the ER after about an hour and a half. After that, everything went as I had expected time wise. The nurses were efficient and friendly and as far as I was concerned pretty hot which is always a good thing. The docs were attentive and ordered the appropriate tests and I was given a relatively clean bill of health given my circumstances. At leaset I didn’t need to be admitted which has been the case more times than I care to count. I was out of there in 6 hours which comparatively speaking is pretty quick. I was happy with the over all experience!

I have had extremely good care through the main medical center, the Dexter and Chelsea Outpatient Clinics and the East Ann Arbor clinic and outpatient surgery center and the cancer center.
University of MI Health System offers doctors, providers and services from Allergy to weight loss surgery and everything in between.
They have justly earned the reputation as one of the best hospitals in America!

Our experience with this medical center is through visiting our son, who has undergone treatment there for both cancer and a heart attack. I’m certainly in no position to judge the expertise of the medical team, but I do want to say that I was incredibly impressed with the level of nursing care at the hospital.

I find the UMHS to be a maze of different providers and different offices with different hours all over the city and even outside of Ann Arbor. Each building itself is a bit of a puzzle too to try to find where you are trying to get to.
The main hospital is outstanding and there are many services there that make it the world class facility that it is. These include state of the art technological resources and excellent inpatient care. To me though, it is definitely a challenge to get around the place, but at least people are exceptionally helpful and will point you the right way.
There are many doctors through the UMHS who are the «leaders and best» in their fields. But keep in mind that any health system has doctors who are excellent on paper but have no communication skills. In an academic facility like this one keep in mind too that there is a hierarchy which may include a lot of students or interns or externs. Working with your doctor may mean working with students too. (To me that is not bad. When your busy doctor or nurse is trying to get a lot of work done, the student or intern may be your best advocate for getting things communicated to the right person!)
A very good thing about an academic health system is the insight into new treatments and a goal to provide medical care that is based on the most current evidence available. The bad thing is that sometimes strictly following those factors is not always the best for every patient. I’d recommend finding a provider who works with you, uses clinical judgement based on experience, and does not push you into always blindly following what the latest research papers state.
One area where I feel that the UMHS excels (and deserves credit) is working with families. The support staff is outstanding and they go above what is expected. Your family will be treated with respect and care.
Another area where the UMHS excels is in bringing together an interdisciplinary team. Particularly when receiving care near the Medical Center, having dedicated, highly skilled professionals from social work and other disciplines right there on campus makes life easier for everyone.
I’m a fan of the UMHS but that doesn’t mean it’s perfect. There is room for improvement, but it is still one of the best health systems in the region.

The hospital is great and automatically gets 5 stars.
I wanted to talk about the cafeteria though. It’s open 24 hours, but during odd hours of the night, it’s just the burger place/​grill. The chicken nuggets are tastier and less expensive than those at McDonald’s.
During lunch it’s packed and there are huge lines; would recommend coming a little before noon or after 1 to avoid the rush.
They have a wide variety of food options. A sandwich place serves paninis and they use Zingerman’s bread. Sometimes a middle eastern food vendor comes and sells falafel etc which is very good. Pacific rim runs a noodle bar one day a week as well. There’s a sushi spot that serves packaged sushi in those little plastic trays. The salad bar is pretty good, and served by the ounce.
The breakfast is not bad either, and served until about 10 am. There’s an omelette station, and another general breakfast bar with hash browns/​scrambled eggs/​french toast. You can also make your own parfaits.

A few months ago my mom took a tumble at my house and broke her heel bone. Since I took her to the UofM ER near my house they set her up with after care at the UofM Health System. Unfortunately the break required surgery so we’ve found ourselves spending quite a bit of time here as a result and I have to admit – I’m really grateful to have such a solid hospital system in my new backyard.
After the initial ER visit they set us up right away with an appointment at the orthopedic surgery clinic. Every time we’ve visited this office it’s been top notch. I don’t think we’ve had to wait more than 5 minutes to be taken back to see either the surgeon, a resident, or a nurse (depending on what she needed done). Everyone we’ve seen has been really pleasant and helpful. From something as simple as getting her cast changed, to something a bit more stressful like planning the surgery date, it’s all been pretty painless (actual broken bones notwithstanding!).
The inpatient hospital was a little less perfect but still overall not too bad. After her surgery (which went fantastically without complications) they kept her overnight for observation. All the nurses we worked with were really fantastic and helpful and took great care of her. Unfortunately her roommate was a very loud, crass, post-​surgery drug addict with a low pain threshold so we had to put up with a lot of screaming and swearing but I don’t really hold that against the hospital. The part of me that was really worried about my mom and sad that she had to deal with someone yelling about her (the girl was also not very candid with her thoughts about the people around her) made me wish the hospital was more strategic with their room placement but realistically I know that’s not possible.
The cafeteria was surprisingly not awful either. I ate a few meals there and it wasn’t bad. They did have some healthy options like a salad bar, sushi, and such but also junk food like pizza, fries and burgers which helps if you are like me and like to feed your feelings with fried food. They also have an Einstein’s Bagels, a Starbucks (which was not open the entire time I was there – maybe they’re closed on weekends?), and a snack station with veggies, cheese and salami and more if you’re just peckish and don’t want a full meal.
For outpatient/​follow up/​appointment stuff they do have a valet service which is really helpful when someone in your party needs a wheelchair. The door to door service makes things a lot easier. It’s $ 5 bucks but I find it $ 5 well worth it.
The surgeons, doctors, and nurses here are all top notch. They’re very busy so you won’t really have bonding time with them but when they come by they answer your questions thoroughly and professionally. I was so impressed with the whole Health System that I’ve decided to switch Systems and I have my first appointment with a new family practice later this week. My mom, who has been a member of the Henry Ford Health System, is also planning on switching over to UofM after her positive experiences working with everyone here. It’s definitely not perfect but it’s one of the best medical centers I’ve worked with (and I’ve actually worked with a few having moved around a bit) and for that I’m grateful.
