University of Michigan Children’s Center

Should be a ZERO. The diabetic department is HORRIBLE. My daughter is a type one diabetic. At her appointment her BS was high and I suspected that her site was bad. They checked for key tones it was negative. I asked them to give her an injection of insulin verses correcting with the site (incase it was bad) they said they COULDN’T!!! This is NO JOKE. Nobody in the clinic was qualified!?! I said I can. I treat her at home ²⁴⁄₇. They said no. They were asking for a nurse from the ER to come up. During the next 30 – 40 minutes yes THAT LONG, I changed her site. Finally they treated her with a shot and we were eventually able to treat with new site. HOW CAN A UNIVERSITY CHILDREN’S DIABETIC DOCTORS CLINIC HAVE NOBODY THAT CAN GIVE INSULIN SHOTS??? BTW, we NEVER returned and go to Detroit Children’s Alex J. Etkins Center. This was 2 years ago and I never thought to post it here, I pray they are better but I’ll never know because we will NEVER go back. The doctor was not good with children either. bedside manor cold with no smile etc… Detroit doctors are always cheerful, positive and SMILING and I’m sure they aren’t always in a great mood either.
