This place has a decent price(for guys) and they do a pretty good job. The prices for guys aren’t bad. They only accept cash but that’s something to expect at one of these types of places.

This has been my go to place for haircuts since it opened in 2012. They seem the most experienced with Asian hair(not that a standard trim for a guy is all that difficult), get the job done efficiently, and have a reasonable price at $ 12.99. They also have plenty of parking which is nice. The one downside is that usually there is the only one lady working here(the owner I think) and so a pretty significant line can develop at times.

HORRIBLE!!! THEOWNERHASNOIDEAHOWTOCUTHAIR! I showed her a picture of what I wanted; med length bob with long bangs, and she nodded and said okay. But, as she was cutting my hair something seemed off. She ended up giving me a mid length long hair cut, with choppy uneven layers. Then, a customer(he was in line after me) walked up to the chair and asked if she could be done soon! WHO does that? After his remark she started cutting really fast and rushing. my hair ended up uneven and nothing like the picture I showed her. Frankly, it was just ugly. When I asked her to please cut it a little shorter and to fix the unevenness, she had the audacity to tell me because it would take too long, that no, she wouldn’t fix her botched work. She pretty much told me to come back and pay her again to fix it. I paid and left, holding back tears. If she doesn’t know how to do a hair cut, she should tell the customer before destroying their hair. NEVERGOINGBACK! not only is the owner’s hair cutting skills questionable, she is an awful person running an scamming business to boot. SHAMEONHER. If your a girl who cares about what your hair looks like, STAYAWAY from this business! Why offer women’s hair cuts when she obviously has no idea how to cut them?! Oh, I can think of a reason, she cares more about the one time payment of a customer than continued patron ship of her business.

Quick, friendly, affordable. Most importantly a nice men’s haircut! Cash only but they are quick to point out the nearest ATMs. Definitely going back.

Just got a men’s haircut for $ 12.99 and I am pleased with it. I showed a picture of what I wanted and the lady finished the cut in 15 minutes or so. This was my first time going there but I will definitely be back because it is close to my house and an excellent value. Also it is hard to see from the map but Studio Y is in Plymouth Road Mall near the Songbird Café.

I’ve lived in Ann Arbor for 9 years, frequently switching barbers for male haircuts due to personnel or price changes. However I am very happy with Studio Y and recommend it to anyone. The majority of the clientele seems to be Asian ladies but I am a white 20-something male and she(the owner, far right chair) cuts my hair better than anyone else in town. As previously posted, there is ample parking in front of the shop. She cuts very quickly so I have never had to wait for more than 20 minutes and am always out of the chair in another 20 or less. Her prices are cheap($ 12.99 currently for a male cut) and it’s the best haircut I have had while in Ann Arbor. You know, the kind you like as soon as you leave the barber shop rather than the kind you need to wait 3 days to fill in. Highest recommendation

Great hair cut and very reasonably priced. This place(Studio Y) just opened at the beginning of 2012. The hair studio is spacious and very clean. Because it’s in a strip mall, free parking is readily available. The owner is very friendly and personable. Three members of my family(a man, a woman, and a child) have been to Studio Y and are happy with our hair cut and hair treatment. I’ve been going to New Age for years. If I’m in downtown, I will definitely go to New Age. However, if I’m on the NE side of town or don’t want to deal with parking downtown, Studio Y is the obvious choice.
