Specialties
With over 10,000 home inspections completed, I am very well versed in all types of residential construction, 19th century homes and new construction. Also very knowledgeable in energy efficiency issues. I offer my skills and experience to you for difficult troubleshooting consultations. I strictly work for my client. My job is to inform and protect you when deciding if the home you have chosen is in a condition you are comfortable with. I offer personal advice to help you make that decision. My job is NOT to be a rubber stamp nor to make sure that a home purchase goes through. I encourage most strongly that my clients be present at the inspection, so that you will gain the most from the inspection. When you leave the inspection, you will have a 21 page written report all filled out. I encourage you to follow closely with me during the inspection. The closer you follow, the more you will gain from the inspection. Times can vary greatly for an inspection, but in order to do an excellent inspection, most homes will take in the vicinity of 4 hours. Call if any questions!
History
Established in 1988.
In the 1980’s I was inspecting homes for HUD in Detroit to see what was needed to fix up these homes for a special program. However, HUD was not interested in a complete and thorough inspection of the homes, wanting us to take only 2 – 3 hours for these large, old homes with lots of problems. Even though I was doing good for the community, I never felt good about not being given the opportunity to do excellent, quality work. Home inspection was a new business at the time with very few inspectors. I found the work intriguing. I apprenticed for a year with the best, at the time, inspector who was from the Bloomfield Hills/B’ham area. I wanted to make sure I was at the top before striking out on my own. I have inspected homes all over Southeast Michigan, and still love my work. It feels good to be a home inspector who is ethical and does the inspection for his true and only client, the home buyer. Consumers Reports says the worst place to get a referral for an inspector is from your realtor

Business Owner
When you call R.J. Frank Home Inspections/A Buyer’s Ally, you get the owner, Bobby Frank, at your inspection. In the over 20 years of doing home inspections, I have never had a client call me with a complaint to me about the quality of my inspection. I do have realtors having issues with me because they say I am not being neutral. Well, I AM NOT NEUTRAL. I am hired by my client, not the realtor, and my job is to do what I can to be helpful to my client. Let’s face it, even if a roof if not leaking, if it is badly worn, it has a high potential for leaking soon and needs replacing now. A roof does not need to be leaking in order to be replaced.
I always encourage my clients to read through the inspection report thoroughly, at home, before making decisions about how they want to proceed. I also tell my clients to call me if they have any questions. Either that evening, the next day, or years down the road. I try to keep up on which house tradesmen are doing good work for fair prices
