Camp Bow Wow Ann Arbor

We used Camp Bow Wow regularly for a couple of months after we got our puppy.
Some staff are great and very attentive, but some others are too busy chatting with their co-​workers to pay enough attention to what is going on with the dogs. My dog actually ate some of the pebbles that are in the outdoor area (the only way I knew this is he pooped them out one morning). Nobody knew because the outdoor areas are not monitored. I didn’t always get the sense that most of the employees there LOVED dogs… only a select few.
The facility is big and seems clean, but my dog was continuously sick the majority of the time he went there. Coccidia, Giardia, Kennel cough, you name it. I get that dogs have a lot of these illnesses but we were constantly battling them and it was frustrating. Have since transferred to a new daycare and love it.

Never Again, horrible experience. A small handful of their staff actually seems to enjoy dogs. They have some stupid policy if you buy a 5 full day package for over $ 100 dollars, and you pick you’re dog up early one day (what they call a half day) instead of deducting it from your package they charge you. Because you didn’t buy a half day package you spent over $ 100 on full day package so now you owe them an additional $ 15 for picking your dog up early (no other dog daycare runs like this).

Everyone cares — I trust that my «fur baby» is being taken care of by people who love him as much as we do!

They went above and beyond, letting me drop off my dog when the door clearly said they were closed for drop-​off, which I failed to remember, and then stayed late when my flight was delayed due to weather delays. Really amazed!

While our dog was at Camp Bow Wow he experienced a dog bite that resulted in an 8 inch laceration on the inside of his rear hind leg. After the dog bite the staff took our dog to the vet and left him there without waiting for someone to arrive. They said the dog bite was not that bad when I spoke with them on the phone, however when I had got in touch with the vet they said that because of the deepth and size of the laceration that they would have to do surgery. When I tried to contact them about what had happened the staff said they could not say anything until the manager arrived witch took about 3 – 4 hours. After the manager arrived they did say that the other owner would pay for the medical expenses, however they did not coordinate with them to finalize the payment, instead they washed their hands of the whole thing and had the vet take care of it. I have to say that I was very disappointed in the way this unfortunate event was handled by the manager and staff there. They didn’t even follow-​up to see if our dog was OK after the surgery.
In general I would recommend anyone that uses Camp Bow Wow to check the public cameras before they take their dog to this place. While my dog was at camp bow wow I saw the keepers spray the dogs to get them to stop following them, I also saw a dog vomit, other dogs go up and lick/​sniff the vomit, while the staff was talking and not paying attention. Some of the handlers seemed to just talk to each other instead of watching the dogs and give them direction when I checked on my dog.
I would say the general problem that my dog had a Camp Bow Wow came from the lack of structure in the way the place is run. For example, at other cage free play places like K-​Nine to Five in Ferndale & Detroit have nap time where the dogs take a rest at some point in the day and they also have the handlers make the dogs follow them, sit or do basic training during the day. All of this may seem silly, but it gives the employees and dogs some more than just wandering around aimlessly to do all day. This should in turn results in a better experience for the employees and dogs.

Camp Bow Wow is great. I’ve boarded and taken my dog for day care. Highly recommend to anyone!

The staff seem to really care about the dogs. Our puppy always comes home tired and happy.

I love the convenience of dropping my dog off with the friendly staff, and picking her up when she’s nice and tired. She absolutely loves camp bow wow, as soon as we are a couple blocks away she starts to realize where we’re going and is overwhelmed with excitement. The facility is very clean and very adequately staffed.

I like that my pets can play all day with other dogs and this is not an extra fee (as some other places charge for playtime). I like that the facility is clean. I like that the workers are attentive to customers when they walk in the door.

Camp Bow Wow is terrific. The staff clearly loves Dogs and makes clients feel (know) that their dog (s) will be well cared for physically and emotionally. Our dogs love going to Camp Bow Wow. I can’t say enough good things about the staff and service!

I have taken my dog here many times for boarding and day care. He always has a great time and returns home happy (and tired from running around)! I like that day care and boarding is structured here — they play in the morning, take a break to have breakfast and rest, play more, take a break for lunch and nap, etc. The kennels also have plenty of room too.

Our first visit today was excellent. Very friendly staff who made my shy pup very comfortable! Nice, clean well-​lit. And I think the camp theme is fun. But the best part was feeling like my dog was in good hands!

Camp Bow Wow in Ann Arbor is a reliable day care and overnight facility for my dogs. I can see they both receive personal attention from the staff and are well taken care of. The web cams are an excellent feature and the dogs get plenty of exercise. My only complaint is how expensive the services are. I would take my dogs to Camp Bow Wow much more often if only the prices were reduced.

We have taken our dog to doggy day care before we came to Ann Arbor and have always liked the idea of him interacting with other dogs and getting his exercise while doing it. However this is the first establishment that my dog has continuously gotten sick at. We have taken him three times and he has the stomach virus soon thereafter.
It’s not that the employees are neglectful but that with so many dogs its very challenging to keep the place as clean as necessary. Even on the cams you can observe that once the dogs relieve themselves it’s not often cleaned up right away.
I will not give it one star because the staff is friendly, the cams are a nice feature and he tolerates being there. However the cost of the vet bills and his pain following his stay cannot warrant a higher review.

We have used several of the Camp Bow Wow facilitiies in Michigan for our 2 Dobermans. I was excited when this one opened, since it is close to my work. My excitement has continued since using them for daycare and boarding over the past 2 months.
The staff is very friendly and know both of my dogs by name. It is really nice when I’m running late in the morning. They already know them and check-​in is very quick for daycare. I like that I can check-​in on them during the day via the webcams.
I will say that check-​in for boarding does take a bit, but that is because they are so thorough and want to make sure that everything is covered: what items you brought in with your dog, feeding schedule and amounts, and reviewing emergency contact information. I really like that the pricing is all-​inclusive. There aren’t extra fees for giving the dogs their medications or feeding them twice a day. My dogs come home from here tired and very happy!

I love taking my dog to Camp Bow Wow for «day camp». Yes, some of the terminology is a little cheesy but super great staff and facility.
This location, apparently it is a chain, is fairly new and that might contribute to the reason it is so clean but it is certainly due to the staff as well. That is important to me. All of the staff have gotten to know my dog by name and they all know her personality. They take great care in the service and care they give. I have not yet met anyone yet that is unpleasant or doesn’t do an outstanding job.
Due to some circumstances, I had to take my dog here quite a few days in a row. After day 3, my dog was rushing up to the door to get in. She is worn out at the end of the day. During the day you can watch any one of several web cams that cover the entire ground — from the front desk, indoor play areas, to the outdoors. I tune in every now and then but I have come to trust them so much that I hardly ever worry about anything happening with the way my dog, who is family and I love greatly, is treated.
They currently offer discounts to UM and EMU students, staff, faculty and alum, and they also offer package discounts.
I highly recommend this place for day care or boarding due to the fantastic staff and the clean facility. I may want to stay there for a day or two sometime! :)
