Very disappointed today. We went for lunch, and we are moving out of the area soon. It was supposed to be our last time here, because it’s been good before. I’ve been excited about it all week, and we went today. First, we were seated in the direct center of a group of tables, where no one else was sitting, we could have been seated along the edge. It was tough to get to and from the table. Then, I made my bowl, and watched the chef throw it on the grill. And that was where it sat for about 10 minutes, before he even touched to to flip stuff over. When I got it, half of it was covered in nasty char, and all I could taste in the entire plate was char. Very disappointing. Then, our waiter asked if I would like a second bowl, Why sure, that first one wasn’t great, but there are 2 chefs now, it won’t get burned. Until I sat there for another 15 minutes, while he brought bowls and refills to other tables and then disappeared. When he finally came back it was«would you like a box for that second bowl?» Um, what second bowl? You never brought it to me, and you never came back so I could ask for it. Very disappointed with the quality of my lunch, and with the service. I’m not sad that we won’t be back.

A group of 5 came here on the graduation day. We know it would be hard to find anything to eat downtown on a graduation day, and we did see long lines on many popular choices. We were kind of hungry already and didn’t want to spend long time waiting in line for food. This one still have tables available when we came, and it’s not a bad place for sure. So we decided to eat here. Each of us got a bowl to pick what we want to eat from variety of seafood, meat, veggies, then choose the sauce and spices. I like the fish best for all protein options. For beef, you’d better separate the slices before it went to cook, otherwise it still come back as a chunk. It’s fun to watch many chefs sauté our dishes together. The table will served with rice too. Wish the sauce can be less salty. I like this place for a causal meal, and you have a lot of control of what you want to and not want to eat.

The restaurant is so noisy that we had to «yell». The dish doesn’t turn out to be tasty but you can never blame the restaurant because you picked up the ingredients and the seasoning on your own. But it is an interesting experience overall. Had a good time there. The dinner is much more expensive than lunch, so next time I will only go there for lunch for the sake of seeking novelty.

For the meal I got, I would have given this place a 2 star, but I made the terrible mistake of ordering a stir fry off the menu that was mostly giant pieces of onions and pepper. My friend got the traditional make your own bowl and had a much better experience! They should probably just scrap that portion of the menu and make it all build your own style — which was a much better deal.

Seriously low quality. This chain of restaurants was bought out from the founder several years ago. In the past year it’s gone way down hill. Meats are very low grade and tough. Food is rarely properly cooked to the right temperature. I used to be a big fan of bd. s Mongolian. I may never go again, not even for a free birthday meal. Raw food area was dirty and not cleaned even one time during our ninety minute visit last Saturday even after one of the members of our party suggested they should clean up. If you are constipated this could be a great choice.

I LOVE coming here. The variety of food is SOVAST it’s crazy! The service was quick even though he forgot out rice AND the soup bowl station had no bowls both times I went up there. It’s all good. You are in control of your own food and I ALWAYS make myself happy. Lol. I was just a little disappointed at how expensive it had become to eat there, but that’s okay.

Probably my favorite restaurant here. Great food and definitely the most fun place to eat in town. I go here often.

I prefer other Mongolian restaurants to this one. Unfortunately, there are no Genghis Grill locations in Michigan. I haven’t been here in a really long time so, this is based on my experience from when I went a while ago. I don’t necessarily think the bd’s was particularly bad or particularly good. I do remember the service being a bit slow and several people at my table not having utensils and having to grab utensils from another table. However, the food is affordable and I went to this location several times during my undergraduate career.

I had never been here before and being a virgin, I felt like a fish out of water. Too much noise and activity for my taste. Wasn’t thrilled with the flies circling the raw ingredients, the nasty grill and cross contamination I witnessed. I can see how it might become less of a challenge after you have been here a few times and figured some things out. Way too expensive for what I felt was over rated chow.

We visit this location every 4 – 6 weeks when we come to Ann Arbor. We live in Northville, but due to the great deals at Vault of Midnight for comic books, I have a subscription there. Sundays offer free parking in A2 making it the perfect travel day. With that said, this is your typical bd’s Mongolian BBQ with all the great meats, vegetables, and sauces that you expect. We usually come at 11:00 am, beating the crowds, except when there is an early morning run in the area. Even on those days it isn’t that bad. Without much wait and all the delicious fixings, we will be visiting this place regularly for a long time.

Big improvements since last year. I have been in 4 or 5 times since my last review. The restaurant is cleaner, no weird smells still. They rolled out a new menu today, with more options of a regular menu. I hear the Chicken Sriracha salad and tacos are excellent but after hearing the fish in the fish tacos are battered in waffle batter — I have to try that next. Super friendly bartender — Leah and the stir-fry guy has been there are a while now. Very entertaining and efficient. I stuck to a regular one trip bowl, this visit. It’s more than enough, with lettuce wraps. I like going here for lunch now. It’s affordable lunch for downtown area, quick, friendly and good, healthy food.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in one of my favorite towns as I travel around the United States. The restaurant always has fresh food that you can select and create your own entrée. The atmosphere is festive and happy, and I always look forward to my annual visit to Ann Arbor for a visit to the Mongolian BBQ.

I came here on a Friday for lunch. The hostess seated me right away and my waitress was very kind and attentive. She even came up to me when I was waiting for my meal to cook to see if I wanted rice or tortillas with my stir fry. The tortillas were delivered to my table shortly after. So the service was very very good. The flies. The fat fruit flies spoiled my experience here. They were everywhere!!! They hovered over all the stations(salad bar, meats, veggies and I’m sure they were having cocktail hour by the sauces). They looked like they’ve been there a while. They were so big! Yuck! Cross contamination. Mongolian BBQ has a huge round table that serves as their frying pan. The chef tossed my contents onto the table to cook and barely moved my ingredients around. There were a few patrons around the table and one chef was cooking for all. When the four patrons were served before me, the chef noticed his soiled utensil and scraped off the burnt remains and thickened grease from his utensils, discarded the waste and then proceeded to mix my meal and serve it to me. I had seafood, everyone else had beef or chicken. Hope everyone was okay with the cross contamination! This is not a place for vegetarians. There was a stash of cooking utensils, and none were used in my entire duration at the restaurant. You should at least rinse off or swap your utensils before the next wave of patrons come by! Come on! Apparently a few fruit flies were stationed in the dining area too. I swear I was swatting them away with every other bite. Overall, the meal was fair and filling but I probably won’t come back because the establishment wasn’t very clean. Don’t even get me started on their hot muggy restrooms with clogged toilets. Two stars.

Friendly staff greeted me… selected my items for my noodle stirfry(chicken, ribeye steak, hot link rounds with some edamame, corn, green onions, sesame seeds, garlic, ginger, teriyaki sauce, maggi G chili on yakisoba noodles). Turned out pretty tasty… but was full after my 1st round. They have different price structures depending how much food you can handle. Today was a light weight day. Hahaha…

Went there with my 2 babies. Expecting a typical cookie cutter BDs. However, customer service is not yet a concept here. Catering staff are probably in their late teens and appropriately discounting and disrespectful. Had the soup of the day ONLY, which turned out to be too salty … was charged USD21… couldn’t stand to stay there anymore… paid and left just to get out of there. Good for the blue color Hardees crowd.

I really enjoyed going here! At first I was hesitant cause there are so many options of meat and veggies to choose from it can be a bit difficult for indecisive people. The staff was super nice and seemed genuinely happy to be there. They checked on us often and it was even busy. I would definitely like to go here again. Great food and fun atmosphere! I was surprised the service was so great it has been some time since I went any place that had service like this.

It was quite crowded on a Friday night, though I don’t know if that was because it was Restaurant Week and people couldn’t get into other restaurants. We tried the shrimp appetizer, which were battered shrimp coated in a gooey sauce. I visited the salad bar, where they have a large variety of greens and toppings, even including the more exotic ingredient of jicama. My main dish included small scallops, whitefish, steak, a more thinly cut beef, noodles, and a smörgåsbord of veggies. My favorite protein by far was the thinly cut beef, maybe ribeye? To my surprise, we were also served rice and tortillas by the time we got back to our table from the grill area. Note that since plenty of carbs are provided(and you don’t get the AYCE deal), one can simply load up on protein and veggies to maximize the more valuable food on one’s dish. In general, I am a bit turned off by restaurants with no specific cuisine focus, but I understand that bd Mongolian is a fun, interactive place and satisfies requirements for a silly, shopping mall-esque dining experience. I wouldn’t choose to come again just because for the price, I’d rather have a professional prepare and season my food instead of trust myself to come up with good combinations. But if you are looking for a more playful, DIY-type dinner, this place would certainly be appropriate.

I love this place! Being from Ann Arbor, I always come back here when I come visit. It’s a fun, clean, different environment. When i was back in 12/2014, I had a server named Jackson whom was fantastic! Very attentive, patient, and outgoing. Great to see the food and service is still excellent after all these years!

Ok, I’ve just learned that this is called event cooking. But hey, has it really to be that loud? The food was good and tasty, but the location was not very pleasant…

Ewww, the cross contamination of food is just too much for my taste. Food comes out tasting of whatever else it came in contact with, so if you care about what you eat, care no more coz ya gonna get whatever others eat too, lol:)) the food tasted burned and it was mostly on the dark side of cooked:) I came across a raw egg on the floor and it sat there for a while until I snapped and went to ask for somebody to come pick it up. So the whole idea of this place didn’t work for me.
