The sweet woman at the reception was so kind and gave us so many helpful tips and useful maps and brochures. She also went beyond her duties and called California Carverns for us to make sure they were open after the recent heavy rain. They were closed, so we went to Moaning Caverns. Thank god she told us because it was mins away!
We also went to Natural Bridges as part of her recommendation, which was an awesome healthy hike.
This visitor center was the best one I’ve been to EVER. Lots of neat things inside, books, and the best part, a friendly chatty local that loved her city enough to show us where to go. It’s people that like that that are invaluable and go above and beyond.

Chatty woman behind the counter gave us stacks of brochures for the local area. She is happy to offer directions and tourism advice to anyone who will listen.
Floor to ceiling frog merchandise to buy and take home as a souvenir. Frog tshirts, toys, magnets… you get the idea.
Clean restrooms to make a pit stop makes this easily marked business a good stop on the road no matter where you are headed.

After a long drive up and over Ebbetts Pass, we were hungry and in need of some «relief». The blue Rest Area sign welcomed us a few miles out of Angels Camp, which turned out the be the Calaveras Visitors Center.
At my Dad’s service station, he was a stickler for clean rest rooms. This place easily meets my Father’s high standards. And when you add the ample free parking, anything that we enjoyed inside the Visitor’s Center was a bonus.
