Charming tasting room with gorgeous view… nice variety of both red and white wines. Highly recommend their port style wine.

Great place to spend a few hours on a nice Sunday afternoon… or some evening when the Plilly cheesesteak truck comes to town… love it!

The views are amazing and the staff is friendly. There are no words to describe the wine. I was told that Galen Glen is known for their white wines but I love the red wines! The crooked stick red is definitely one of my favorites.

What a beautiful setting. Having traveled to wineries all over our country, I couldn’t believe something this great was about a 1.5 hour drive from home. Definite old world feel. Off the beaten path, it’s definitely a destination, I knew everyone in their establishment had a desire to be there. Unlike some tourist-wineries in other areas where you see it from the highway and every Tom, Dick & Harry is there taking up space and tasting for the sake of drinking, this was not the case. I know that makes me sound like a wine snob but I’m not. I just want a great experience and Galen Glen delivered. The winemaker had been at the food and wine festival at the Sands Casino in Bethlehem and after that I knew I had to go there. Gruner Veltliner is awesome. I understand that this winery was a visionary by planting this grape about 12 years ago and I’m glad they did. My favorite by far. I also enjoyed the Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Barrel 29, a port-style wine. My partner and I enjoyed a glass of wine and one of the many cheeses they sell. We sat in the enclosed out building. I joined the case club and cannot wait to return. The good news is if I don’t have time to get there, they can ship. Since I had to answer this question below, good for kids. I didn’t see any. Personally, I would not take a child to a winery. Bike parking: they have ample parking for any car, motorcycle or bicycle. The do take credit cards. I highly recommend visiting. It was like a one-day vacation where I felt like I was transported to a land far from my Philadelphia home.

What a hidden treasure! We discovered this winery recently, and can’t wait to go back! Friendly, knowledgeable staff made our tasting experience so much fun! We aren’t «snooty» wine connoisseurs, but they helped us pick out wonderful, flavorful wines! We even got a tour of the winery by Galen himself! We learned a lot about the wine-making process, and felt like family as he showed us around the vineyard and processing plant! A great excursion!!!

Galen Glen is by far the best winery in the valley! There variety of wines and knowledgeable and welcoming staff made the experience unforgettable. I lost count of the awards they have earned and it shows! My favorite by far is their Riesling Fossil and their Gruner Reserve– could have stayed all day! Can wait to return to help stuff their cars to help the homeless later this month!

On the bright side this is probably the most beautiful winery I have ever visited. Sitting atop a mountain, a seat on their patio offers the sight of miles and miles of farms and homesteads across the neighboring hills. The views took my breath away. For that alone I would return. Their wines run decent, with some hits and some misses. As with most Pennsylvania wineries their whites are typically better due to the climate, and most of the whites here are quite enjoyable. For instance, their Rieslings run drier but are still a pleasant experience with very fruity notes. Other honorable mentions go to their Holiday Spice Red, which is one of the better versions I’ve had, and their Galah Blush, which is semi-sweet but very juicy on the palate. My biggest issue though is that many of their wines smell skunky. I’m not sure if this is something that occurs in their production, or something about being exposed to too much light somewhere along the line, but it is very off putting. Winter Mountain White and their port are the worst offenders, of which I could barely choke down after smelling them. I ended up buying a bottle of Winter Mountain Red(a sweet Concord), and when I opened it at home I got that same skunky smell! What in the world? The wine still tastes good, but it really bothers me that the smell comes out of nowhere. Anyway, with a beautiful vineyard and some decent wines I will definitely make my way back out again, however, I’m still wary of certain wines. Hopefully this issue will be resolved.

The view from this winery is beautiful! They have picnic tables to sit at while you enjoy a delicious glass of their wine while overlooking the gorgeous landscape. Their taste testing is priced at $ 5, but that five dollars goes towards a bottle of wine if you buy any. Their wines are incredible and are served in beautiful German glasses. The ice wine is an extra $ 2 to taste, but it is well worth the extra money. The ice wine is by far my favorite, but their winter mountain red is also very tasty. I will be back in the future, and I will be telling everyone about this beautiful secret winery!

Friendly staff and lots of wines to try. For 5 dollars you got 6 very small tastes and another 2 bucks got you the ice wine. The 5 dollars could go toward a bottle of wine. They should get glasses with their name on it instead of fancy crystal. They also had cheese fondue that you could get with a decent glass of wine for 5 dollars. It is 1 of the 8 wineries on the Lehigh trail.

Nice view. The day was very windy otherwise we would have loved to sit outside. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed several of the wines.

Number 1 With two good close friends as party of three for the Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania wine tour, Galen Glen was our first vineyard to visit. Six tastings for $ 5.00 was so worth the experience. Their glasses are generously large specifically made by a German glass maker, unlike the standard wine glasses, purposely to enhance the wine taste and intake pleasure. I like the wine goblet so much for the large size that I purchase it for $ 5.00. The $ 5.00 wine tasting fee applies towards the purchase of any bottle. Staff is attentive to our questions and selections for the six tastings. Ice wine is available for tastings at $ 2.00 each. Their staff mention how Galen Glen is known for their German and Austrian white wines and they surely live up to this claim. We were blown away with their quality white wines! My personal favorite whites were: Grüner Veltliner 2013 dry white and Stone Cellar Gewürztraminer 2012 dry white which were by far superior in quality, grapes and light on the palate. I sorrowfully regret for not purchasing a bottle, but their website enables purchasing to the public. Their reds were also good as the Cellar Red 2013 which was subtle, semi-dry with the flair of Chambourcin. Galen Glen does not offer food despite having chairs and tables outdoor that faces the beautiful scenic valley of Andreas, Pennsylvania. The acres of land is large and sits on a steep valley. They offer complimentary crackers only to clean the palate in between tastings, but no substantial food. Facilities are clean. The atmosphere of the tasting room is very modern, simple and clean. One resident cat exist but it does not bother patrons. A private parking lot is available. There are no wine tours offered of their vineyard, cellar, nor explanation of what type of barrels are used aging and what type of barrels used for fermentation. The tranquil valley landscape is a must-see and must-be photographed as it was a good escape from a urban setting and the stress of any large densely populated city life. So worth the long haul drive.

My wife, friend and I did a wine tour of Lehigh Valley wineries and this one was the best! I knew this place was special when we walked up to bar for a tasting and I saw the big, meaty wine glasses. I was impressed by their size and the bartender told me they were made by a German glass maker to compliment their German and Austrian wines. No small wine goblets, like you’d find at other wine tastings, here! She told us they were known for their dry whites and boy, were they off the charts!!! By far, the BEST whites I’ve ever had at a winery and hey, their reds aren’t bad either. This place doesn’t have any food except for crackers and jam but I can’t knock them for it since their wines were so sensational! The views are great and you get $ 5 off a bottle of wine for each tasting you pay for(also $ 5). What a great thing to offer! It’s pretty much a free wine tasting and I had to buy a few bottles so I got a few bucks off there. Great experience and great wines!!! Winner!

There is no tour of the winery that we saw. The views of the vineyards and the hills are magnificent. $ 5/person for tasting 6 wines. Not a great price but if you buy a bottle per person they apply the $ 5 towards your purchase. Wines are OK, not great. The raspberry dessert wine was excellent. The Barrel Twenty-Nine Stone Cellar Dessert win was great too, but a little too expensive. We bought 2 bottles. Nice place, very nice people. Stop in if you’re in the area.

This is the most remote winery on the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail, but once you get here the trip is well worth the amazing views, wonderful tasting room, and friendly staff. They have expertise in German wines that adds variety to the Lehigh Valley wine tasting experience. They do a great job on them and can help you pronounce their often complicated wine names. It would be advisable to not use these complicated names as passwords or a safety word unless you’re very comfortable with the German language. Their tasting room is spacious, so can entertain many tasters at one time and is well organized to ease your transaction experience. Be sure to read the story of the Galen stick on the upper left wall of the winery. This will give you the background story on the picture of the stick that adorns all of Galen Glen’s bottles. They also have a cool selection of hand painted wine glasses for purchase that you won’t need to take a second mortgage to purchase at $ 10. Other wineries have similar glasses at much more expensive prices. In our opinion, you shouldn’t need therapy when you inevitably break your glasses. Overall, a fantastic place to visit and well worth the drive. They were recently listed by Zagat as one of the 10 reasons to drive to the Lehigh Valley, and Zagat was«spot on» adding them to the list!

I am not going to lie, it is far(1.5 hours from conshy). You will go deep into Lehigh valley. Then you go up the hill with farms on both sides. You enter the gravel driveway and see the vineyards on both sides and you take in the beautiful view. They have a gazebo with several picnic tables, some terraces over looking the vineyards from up high. Simply lovely. Their wine tasting is $ 5 for six wines. They currently have a selection of 9 whites, 6 reds and 3 dessert wines. They were many favorites but my personal were the Riesling, Erin’s auslese, galah, and the crooked stick. We went and brought our goodies to picnic and enjoyed the views while drinking our wine. Hands down I would take this trip again!

Went there for the first time on Mother’s Day. We took a picnic lunch, and sat at the outside terrace. It has a beautiful view, and the staff was freindly and informative. There have some great white wines, and most seem to have a Germanic heritage as their Reisling is quite good. I’m mostly a red fan, and I prefer dry reds. I tried a nice drinkable table red, but I believe their whites are their strength. It’s a fun drive there, and for a Pennsylvania Winery, I think they are better then many others I’ve visited. After living in Northern California for years, I’m admittedly jaded.

It was worth the drive. This vineyard is the farthest northwest in the LV wine trail, but worth the trip. They carry a few Germanic wines that the other local vineyards do not, from what I tasted they executed on all of them quite well.

Just beautiful! Overlooking the countryside, this winery has all that a wine-o needs for a good time. We did the tour, and you get to ride on the back of a wagon that’s pulled by a tractor. It leads you down to where the family wine is made. The service we had here was not the best. I came with a big group of girls, and we were totally ignored on the wine tour. The tour guide talked with his back to us the whole time. He made no effort to make eye contact with any of us at any time. Attempting to ask questions didn’t help. He answered the question to the rest of the group, and we weren’t even able to hear the answers. Bummer, because we were actually interested in what we had to say. A bunch of us bought the wine slushi mix which was delicious! The cheeses and wines were also fabulous. The Gala wine was my favorite! I would go back but skip the tour.

We stopped by here midday on a Friday in Oct. and this place was hopping for being out in the middle of NOWWHERE! We had to wait for our tastings due to only one staff member being there, but it was worth the wait. The views from the windows are worth it. The tasting room is very large and well thought out. The wine list was very large with something for everyone. Prob the only downfall was the staff member was very friendly, but not very talkative about their wines.
