History

Established in 2001.

Local residents, Michael & Sheri Helman, are the owners. The store, is located at the corners of Rtes 28 and 133 in Andover. The store specializes in fine wines from all over the world.

The philosophy of the store is that it’s not hard to get a good bottle of wine for over $ 20, but it’s tough to find great bottles of wine for only $ 10 or $ 15. That’s the challenge they take on every day! «It’s those wines that we strive to find and carry for our customers. We take the commitment so seriously that we taste every wine before it is brought into the store.»

Michael, the buyer and owner has over 30 years experience in this industry, specializing in wines. He now brings his talent for wine selections and communicating with consumers to his own wine shop. Shawsheen Village Liquors has become the North Shore «neighborhood fine wine store» catering to local residents with «wines from around the around the world… just around the corner»

Business Owner

The owners of the store, Sheri and Michael Helman are unique to say the least. Michael had taken a part time college job in a wine shop in Worcester, MA and has turned it into a 30-​year career. He buys the wines and conducts store and in home wine tastings. Sheri spent her career in corporate marketing. After a long stint in corporate marketing and surviving high tech startups, she chose to join Michael in the store in 2004. With his background and Sheri’s marketing expertise they have grown the store into what it is today. Michael’s many years of purchasing wines for high end wine stores in the Boston market (his last store won repeated «Best of Boston» awards during his tenure, winning only once after his departure) and Sheri’s marketing background, have made this one of the best wine shops on the North Shore. This store truly lives up to their motto which is «Wines from around the world… just around the corner»
