La Quinta Inn & Suites Andover

First impression was made by a rather rude front desk clerk which is so unusual, even for a low budget chain, that I thought it remarkable. The breakfast selection was really quite poor unless you really like sugar and low quality baked goods. The room was passable other than the broken blow dryer that my Lady was not happy with and the broken top to the iron which slopped water all over my shirt. I would recommend this hotel if another hotel were looking for a case study in what the lack of attention to detail can lead to.

My boyfriend and I have stayed here three times now & we have had nothing but good experiences during our stay.
The staff is very friendly and very accommodating, the front desk also has any and every phone number/​business card you’ll need for cab services, local restaurants, etc. I liked that the breakfast buffet has a good variety of cereals and muffins/​doughnuts and the staff would refill whatever was running low right then and there; very efficient.
We’re usually put in a room toward the back of the building (mainly because we request a smoking room) so we are able to use the back doors and avoid the crowded lobby area with guests checking in and out which is great.
We’ve always been able to get whatever we needed without a fuss, mainly extra towels and cups. The fridge and microwave in the room are great, the bed is super comfy and the AC is always working great.
The jacuzzi and pool aren’t the fanciest but they do the trick & we don’t need anything spectacular for a quick swim.
Like I said, nothing but good experiences here and the fact that there is a Chili’s, Dunkin Donuts/​Mobile and The Château all in the same parking lot made our lives 10x easier. It’s also SUPER affordable! 5 Stars all around!

Best La Quinta I’ve stayed at in a long time. Lobby and room was very clean, staff very friendly, good wifi for business needs. Gas station and Chilis neighboring so need for long distance travel for food or necessities when just staying one night.

Sadly between a 2.5 and a 3. Interesting how the ho hum and uniterested clerk can seem very interested in male visitors than females. She was nice enough to make some prints for us for their guest, our client, whom we came to meet at the hotel. Old and tired, the customer service is rough at best. I certainly will not let my clients stay here again. I don’t want to interact with a fellow puertorrican with very poor manners, poor attitude and selective customer service.

Pros: Allows pets; large rooms; close to restaurants and I-​93.
Cons: Unenthusiastic front desk staff; hotel is dated and smells musty; only one elevator; no designated pet area; one room key didn’t work.
Bottom Line: Stay here if you are on a road trip or trying to save $ by not staying in Boston.

Not a great place to stay. We usually have good experiences with La Quintas, but not here. Most of the staff were friendly, it was pretty quiet and the room was large, but that’s about it. The place is not well-​managed. Broken ice machines, broken coffee machines, less than clean rooms. We found a great laundromat (Sparkle Brite) down the street because the hotel washers and dryers were broken. I heard another guest complaining that they had been broken for a week, and that was on the first day of our weeklong stay. They advertise the typical La Quinta breakfast, but provide only about half of what they provide at the other LQ’S where we’ve stayed. I heard other guests complain about various things throughout our stay and the staff responses ranged from arguing with the guests to sad and obviously common «I’m so sorry“s. This location was a out of the ordinary based on our experiences with other La Quintas on our trips.

Nothing to complain about this place. Nice hotel. Good location. Friendly staff.

Aside from being reasonably priced, this place is a dump. The pool area is unkempt no towels and the jacuzzi was cold. Lots of families that seem to live here running wild and making the pool area uncomfortable for anyone else. The room on first glance didn’t look bad but the hall and room have a funny smell. The bathroom is nasty smells like a pungent mix of mildew, bleach and urine. As an added bonus there is mold in the shower and the floor is filthy. I took a shower after I got back from the pool. I wore my flip flops. There is no way I would date go barefoot in this room. I’ll ever come back here. The only reason it got 1 star is the price and the location.

You can get a worse hotel experience, but not by much. I made the mistake of staying here several times only because of the convenient location to my client. EVERY TIME there have been issues, many of them the same from the last stay (I don’t think the printer in the lobby has EVER worked). Despite voicing the issues to 3 different front desk people this last time (TV not working– I fall asleep to it so it effects my rest) when I called the manager (Dave) he actually had the balls to ask me why I didn’t report the issue, then proceeded to tell me why that couldn’t have happened. My card was (for the 4^th time) charged when I had a prepaid reservation and Dave told me it was up to me to get it corrected.
If there IS a business model here it seems to be «We’ll make the mess, you clean it up». I will not be back to this slum rented by the night again.

I’m here as we speak. Room is stuffy, smells like someone was smoking in here, hallway carpets are dirty, towel rack fell off the wall, toilet seat is broken, bathroom floor looks dirty and is hopefully only stained, bed is uncomfortable — pretty much everything feels uncared for and run down. On the upside, there’s a refrigerator and microwave in the room, the fitness center looks slightly a cut above than most lower priced hotels, and there are two options for restaurants across the parking lot. That being said, I’ll be looking for somewhere else to stay next time I’m in the area.

Overall, it was a descent hotel. No bed bugs. No smoke smell except for outside. Everything was very clean and most of the staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was ok but around 815/​830, they do not refill anything up (like juice or waffle mix) unless you ask. It closes at 9 during the week… please keep everything filled until then. Our last night there, the fire alarm went off at 1230 am. Only one staff member was there and didn’t advise guests to evacuate the hotel. Actually, he looked as if he had been asleep! I had to call the fire department! Luckily there was no fire but the staff never jumped into action.

OMG! I feel like I’m in the middle of Lawrence in a riot of delinquents. The pool was the most disgusting place I’ve been. About 60 kids with zero supervision. Nothing safe about it. No towels, disgustingly filthy. Right now it is 9:30 and there are children running up and down the hallway. If it wasn’t snowing, I would get up, pack up my kids and leave. This is one of, if not the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The type of people who come here have zero respect for anyone. I won’t even get into the «breakfast» experience. I want to say there is a better homeless shelter than this in the area. Never again!

The worst hotel I’ve ever been to. I HATE THIS PLACE. Never even step into the La Quinta. The managers are lazy, and don’t do anything. Everything here is really sketchy. And I’m not exaggerating.

The hotel itself was okay. The furniture wasn’t too beat up and the entry looked decent. There were always towels on the hall floor which looks ghetto.
The «free wireless» is total bullshit. There is no free wireless. There is no wireless, period. VERY ANNOYING, especially if you chose the hotel over others that didn’t offer wireless like we did.
They said when we booked we could use a crib, and asked for one at check in, but then hours later told my husband «we don’t know ‘nothin ’bout no crib.»
Excellent.
So, at 8pm we had to figure out where to sleep a 2 year old.
Nice warm pool, though. Also, the free breakfast was some nasty premade muffins and plain bagels, two kinds of boring cereal, and I think waffles but I didn’t venture in that far. Pretty sad when the better alternative is to go next door to the mobil station with the dunnkin donuts inside.

We checked in at 2pm and asked for a crib and they told us they would bring one up to our room. We left and came back at 8pm and no crib. Called the front desk several times and nobody answered. I walked down and asked where our crib is and they pretended like they had no idea what I was talking about. They had no cribs. If they told me that at check-​in, I would have either gone elsewhere or found a crib to borrow. Not a whole lot of options at 8pm. No manager on duty of course.
The free wireless internet didn’t work for either of my computers. I called their tech support and after talking to three people, they said the Internet is down and no estimate on when it I’ll be fixed.
Room for 3 had one towel. I asked for more and was told they didn’t have any more and should ask tomorrow. I asked the next day and still no towels How the fuck does a hotel run out of towels for two days?
One chair in the room had all the screws taken out.
Parking lot was full of broken glass.
The only redeeming quality here is that after I complained to the manager, they comped us one night.

Long story short, the missus and I have a new New Year’s Eve tradition — a hotel + hot tub + champagne. This year, circumstances necessitated a last minute reservation and we had to bring the dogs.
So many great things about this place:
1) dogs are free — no charge! Unheard of anywhere else!
2) the jacuzzi is nice
3) the shower was awesome
4) the continental breakfast had waffles, decent coffee and was a cut above most
5) the rooms are clean and when our TV didn’t work, the manager promptly moved us to a different room
6) we paid $ 69
7) it shares a parking lot with Chili’s (3 for $ 20, baby!), where we ate our NYE dinner (and it was so quiet and chill there)
8) the beds are super soft and squishy with nice soft sheets (and I don’t normally like super soft beds)
We checked in at 1pm, out the next day right at noon and had a truly lovely and relaxing time. Sure, it’s a cheap hotel and definitely not fancy but when the missus and I want to get away from it all for less than $ 100, we’ll totally keep this place in mind.

3.5 stars. Few amenities, but clean with a passable continental breakfast.
Stayed here for a night after a wedding at the Andover Country Club. By the end of the night, I really just wanted a place to peel off my bridesmaid dress, pull out my hairpins, and pass out. Two out of three ain’t bad, but I’ll leave you to guess which one happened at the Chili’s across the parking lot.
As far as La Quintas go, definitely pleasantly surprised by the squeaky clean floors and awesome water pressure. Décor was standard fare — grandma floral bedspreads, those prickly hotel blankets that feel a little like the top of my bald uncle’s head, ceilings direct from my high school campus. Everything was clean, though, and there was more that enough room to maneuver around the two double beds, desk, and dresser. Oh, and another plus — the walls were thick enough that our late night shenanigans didn’t wake any neighbors. C’mon, you get two bridesmaids, two groomsmen, and two other wedding guests in one room, and you think there wouldn’t be shenanigans?
Breakfast was your basic continental breakfast fare, with the inclusion of a waffle maker. I’ll definitely give them kudos for trying, but who has strawberry cream cheese, but no regular cream cheese? (We clearly had a purist in our group.) The breakfast room was also awkwardly set up — there weren’t any tables for more than two people. At least the tables weren’t bolted down, so we easily made it work. A friendly hint: If you have double rooms with two double beds, it might just be a possibility that YMMV.
Anyhow, we came, we saw, we conquered. Easy as pie, a piece of cake. Not a destination resort by any means, but for our needs, the La Quinta was more than adequate.
