Service is good. Food is authentic and delicious. Such a comfortable pub atmosphere. Be adventurous and try the daily specials. I’ve had some unbelievably good food by just trying what they suggested.

Corned beef Wellington was interesting and outstanding. The McGee tavern burger had the best combination of ingredients: egg, spinach, cheddar, bacon and tomato, all of which worked very well together. Atmosphere and ambiance are very well done but not overboard. Quite frankly one of the best Irish pubs in South Carolina I’ve come across so far. Didn’t try any but their dessert selection looks fantastic!

Stopped in for our first visit early on a Saturday evening. While the hostess was slow with the seating process, the rest of the visit was great. I enjoyed the McGee burger which was a ½ lb bacon cheese burger topped with a fried egg. I also ordered the French onion soup, for a small up charge from the other standard side selections. It was a very tasty French onion soup. We will return.

The best bartender in downtown Anderson. Chris P. Always accommodating, wonderful wit and a perfect Margarita maker. Rare talent in an Irish Pub. Not all Paddys drink beer. Thank you for treating me so well

Cozy pub with great food! The beer cheese soup was awesome! Very cheesy and with a nice bread that tasted homemade. I didn’t think it had a strong beer flavor at all. Was just right! I had the whisky sirloin entrée & while I didn’t really get a lot of whisky or spice flavor, it was a great steak & cooked really well(med rare with perfect grill marks)! Loved the crème brûlée for dessert! It was silky smooth & so good! They could’ve left the blueberries & almonds off though. My husband had the corned beef Wellington. He really liked it. I thought it tasted just like a reuben which is not my fav… He also had the bourbon chocolate pecan pie. Once again, he loved it but it was too chocolatey for me. I’ll definitely come back as there were several other things on the menu that I’d like to try! Oh yeah, the service was great too!

The food is alright but overpriced. The few times that I have visited they have not been kid friendly. I have a three year old son, he is well behaved, but like any toddler he needs to be kept busy. Every time, I have been given mean looks by the management. My advice: if you have children, this is not the place to bring them.

This is my second favorite Irish Pub in South Carolina. It had been years since I’d been to McGee’s. Before my Grandparents passed, this was our hidden gem in Anderson. They have the best Irish Whiskey steak ever. I’ve even had a couple in Ireland. Great pour of Guinness, friendly staff, and nice pub ambiance.

The food and service was great as usual. However when we had two couples paying separately and with Living Social certificates the server was pretty snippy about honoring both certificates at one table. Ultimately they agreed after letting us know that they were granting us a huge favor.

Came in for lunch on a clod day. Chicken and wild rice soup and unlimited salad was awesome! Great atmosphere. Great service.

Headed to McGee’s for a late lunch. I think there was one other table seated. We opted for a high top in the bar area. Sadly there was some sort of photo shoot going on so the TV’s were turned down. Our server was excellent though, very attentive but not totally up your butt driving you crazy. OK on to the food. Appetizer– Bumbershoots a catchy name for your basic fried mushrooms. I would give them 1.5 star. I really can’t pinpoint what the issue was or if it was a combo of issues with these but I was not a fan of them at all. Breading was fairly light and didn’t cover the whole mushroom, the mushrooms themselves were a little tough and chewy. I do McGee’s credit for not just having straight out of the bag frozen breaded mushrooms. The horseradish and ranch dipping sauce was pretty flavorless to me, but for me when it says horseradish I want it to have a strong flavor and give me that bit of burn through my sinuses. So for some it might have been totally fine. cost $ 6 I will say that is was a very large order and the photo I supplied, well I forgot to take a photo when they were served. My dinning partner dove right in and did some damage on the mushrooms before I was able to snap a photo. Next up was my Fish and Chips. Kudos to our server, as soon as the platter was set down and I started to ask, he finished my sentence. yes we have malt vinegar. And once again I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to Fish and Chips. I’m a yankee after all and a lover of seafood and fish. I would give them 3 stars. It was OK, but nothing that brought be to a back home feel. Size of the filets were again OK and the chips well they were your normal fries. Not hand cut or anything showstopping. Cost $ 10 Lastly was the Roast Beef Debris. I can only chat about the looks of the sandwich as I did not sample this at all. To me it seemed to lack enough cheese and looked rather dry. When I think Roast Beef Debris, I think of something more along the lines of a Poboy served in New Orleans. Which is quite the messy, sloppy, drip down your arm and off your elbow sort of messy. My dinning partner had not a single complaint on the food and was thrilled with everything. Cost $ 9 All and all it was a nice place, great service and a fair price for what we were served. Can’t say I would rush back but wouldn’t turn down another visit either.

Was in town visiting some friends when someone suggested this place… The food is super good! I had the beer cheese soup, which may have been the best I’ve ever had. I also had the Sheperd’s pie, which was also excellent. My only complaint was that they had a band that started at 9pm and they were LOUD; we couldn’t even talk to the people at our table or hear the server anymore and we wanted to get out of their ASAP.

This place is just how an «Irish Pub» should be. They have a very good selection of beer and wine. The atmosphere is great and everyone there was having a good time. They had a live band that was good but they were a bit on the loud side. We were close to the stage but as we walked out, it didn’t get any less noisy. They should have turned it down so we could hear how good they were. Loud does not always equal good. I was with a party of four. The two«regulars» each had Fish and Chips, which was their reason for going so that must have been good. My friend had the Shepherd’s Pie; I took a bite and really enjoyed it. She was very pleased with her choice. I ordered the Bangers and Hashed Mash. I found it delicious and ate everything on the plate. I, as well as my friend, started with a cup of Beer Cheese Soup. It was everything I had expected, which was a good thing. It wasn’t unique to me but that certainly was not a bad thing! The rest of the menu was impressive and had lots of tasty choices. This was a very good pub and restaurant. I will visit this one again and try different dishes each time I go.

This was a very good choice. I listened to the reviews on here and their tend to never steer me wrong. Looka and sounds like a nice irish /Scotish restaurant and pub. We had the Trinity(salad, ½ ruben, with the soup of the day) but we substituted the soup of the day for the French onion soup. The sandwich was warm and soft which was perfect, the French onion was perfect and the salad was a simple house salad. Also ate the shepherd pie, which was a standard pie. This has never been known for exploding flavor but was a fine choice. I also had the beer cheese soup which was perfect but it does have a bold cooked beer flavor so be ready for that. We also had the chive and cheese biscuits that were perfect. $ 1.50 killians on tap. Over all, from 1 – 10 I love the place a 9! Eat from my list here and you will be happy.

I totally loved this place before our visit 2 weeks ago. No more Mini Mutton Bridies and not as many choices on the menu. They also don’t have the same wings as they had before. The bridies where the best thing on the menu! When I asked about them the server told me that they hadn’t had them in over 2 years… uh, duh, they had them less than a year ago because we always got them at each visit. Sadly we felt rushed and the food just wasn’t up to par as it has been before. There were also a lot less people there, the table across from us returned their food twice, and no music that Friday night. Just wasn’t the same. Please come back as you were McGee’s!

Listen, ignore my 3 stars. You’re going to go because the prices are great and the things they do well they do oh so well. You’re going to go for brunch, because you like Bloody Marys and Mimosas(You get 2 complimentary with brunch.) Oh yeah. The Bloody Mary bar amaze balls. There was bacon and sausage and shrimp and pickles and horseradish, and worcester, and sour kraut, and tomatoes, and olives, and celery, and cucumber, and and and… I don’t remember it all. But it was perfect, because *I* made it perfect. I especially liked the sausage I put in it. I never thought of that before, but I WILLNOW. I was very excited to have onion soup because I had heard they had the recipe from the now gone Jax(because OMG that was amazing) but it was not even mediocre. The onions in it were practically raw and the broth was not nearly rich enough. My eggs were okay but the homefries were boring. The scones weren’t as good as they looked. The food timing was terrible, entrees came out with appetizers. BUT… oh the Bloody Marys. Worth the trip. Besides, maybe I just made the wrong choices.

On a recent trip to SC, my travel group insisted that we go here for brunch. I am glad we did as it was very tasty and the best part is make your own Bloody Mary. I know, you are thinking«How on earth do you make your own?» Well, they bring you a glass of vodka and you go to a table with all kinds of toppings; bacon, horseradish, pickles, celery, tomato, sausage, olives and so on. This allows you to make the ultimate Bloody Mary to your liking and it is a great idea! The food was pretty good too. I had the Croque Monsieur which was topped with cinnamon apples which was a great addition to the ham and cheese sandwhich! The beer cheese soup was really good as well. The overall establishment looked like it would be fun to come to at night, as there was a stage for entertainment.

I spent the week with my grandfather in Iva and ate at McGee’s twice. The first time I went for lunch and has the shrimp and chips. The portion was huge and the shrimp was fried to perfection. The second time I went was for the mystery dinner. For $ 30 a person you get a 4 course dinner, a drink and the mystery murder show. It’s great for groups and adults of all ages. The more people you bring the better.
