Doolittle’s

The food was wonderful, but the service was terrible. Our waitress did not even ask to see if we needed anything. The did not explain the specials. but the she crab soup was wonderful. I got a side of the broccoli salad and didn’t realy like it and the waitress did bring me a different side.
I would go back again for the soup. but hopefully they are nicer next time!

They say seafood but for lunch there was a very limited amount of seafood available for lunch. Mostly a sandwich shop then. The crab bisque was good. Maybe a little better than J Peters. The crab cake sandwich was good, once I removed the hamburger bun, which was absurd most people eat seafood for its healthy choice and a hamburger bun is the opposite of healthy choice. Was disappointed.

As others have mentioned, the food is good but the service and presentation are REALLY bad!
When we were all seated, we were asked if we were ready to order. Um, hello, your menu says «Ask for today’s quiche and soup». So could you please tell us your quiche and soup??? 5 people for a Sunday brunch, 4 ordered the exact same thing — brunch sampler. One didn’t get grits, one didn’t get syrup, one got a condiment size of fruit while everyone else got a regular side bowl. The 5^th person ordered the quiche (once learning what it was). It was cold. No refills on drinks, no one checked on us at all, for that matter. The checks came out all messed up. But instead of having the non-​responsive waitress try to figure it out, we did it ourselves. We were all so frustrated by this point, we just wanted to leave.
It was a Sunday after church — in Anderson, SC, this is the busy time! — but the restaurant wasn’t very crowded. They can’t use that as any excuse as to why all these things went wrong. For their sake I hope they can clean it up!

Eggsplosian burger was really good and hand cut fries were hot and fresh. My wife had a black and blue steak salad that was really good as well. Nice atmosphere and good service.

What sucks is that the menu and food isn’t half bad. But the wait time, unprofessional staff and overall dining experience are way under par. They need a lesson on customer service and professionalism if they want to bring their Unilocal rating up, which speaks for itself. I’m willing to try again and see if things improve.

I had the Carolina burger which was chili, mustard and slaw. It was very good, but the star of the show was the hand-​cut fries. Get them no matter what you order.

We absolutely love Doolittle’s for weekday lunches. The service is consistently fast and friendly, while the food is delicious. I absolutely love the salads. The East Salad is my favorite!

Food and service has got better

Took the family here for dinner a couple months ago. Ordered the mussels as an app. My husband and I both ended up with «Gastroenteritis– transmission may occur due to consumption of improperly prepared foods or contaminated water or via close contact with individuals who are infectious.»
We were both sick for week! The handling of the food by the staff is very concerning. Since this happened we have now learned that this has happened to other individuals that have dined here. To be safe do not eat any seafood!

We had dinner here with a friend who lives in the area. Overall, a very positive experience, quite unlike the reviews below. Based on the busyness of the restaurant, I’m guessing there have been some dramatic changes. We had three good meals, prompt, friendly service and enjoyed the atmosphere, including the solo guitarist/​singer who started singing at 7:30 pm.

Had the crabcake melt sandwich. Best crabcake I have had in a long time! Sunday brunch is the best time to go.

Excellent food! Great service. The manager even checked in on us. Brought birthday cake for birthday lunch!

My family and I ate here in March 2013. We waited for nearly an hour for lunch — soups and sandwiches. The service was sparse even though we were only the third table of people. My soup and grilled sandwich were both cold, and soup tasted like it had turned. For the price, keep walking to Summa Joe’s or Sullivan’s.

While the service was great, not too overwhelmed with the food. For the price you should get a full sandwich, not a half one. Not that great. I probably wont be coming back.

Excellent food. I went for lunch and had the best chicken salad on fresh california greens. I went back for dinner 2 weeks later and again was impressed with the quality of the food, presentation and atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back. I especially like the Trivia cards at the table… such fun!

Very disappointing. Had the fish and chips. The fish was mushy and tasteless.
The only good thing was the waitress. Needless to say we won’t be going back.

I had the peel and eat shrimp which I promptly stop eating after the first shrimp… they were spoiled. The shrimp were mushy and stunk to high hell. My friend ordered the chicken quesadilla appetizer which according to the menu, came with sour cream, pico and guacamole. When his plate arrived it did not have any guacamole so he asked the waitress to bring some. Now we know why it was left off the original plate… it was brown. My buddy had to literally deposit the bit in his napkin. I would never order seafood of any kind from this place. The manager came over to «confirm» and apologize about the shrimp… like i needed his confirmation.

Very disappointed — spoiled food and poor service. I went for an afternoon appetizer. I ordered the spinach quesadillas with guacamole. My friend ordered the «old bay» steamed shrimp. My quesadillas arrived with sour cream and pico, but no guacamole. I asked for some and it arrived ½ way through the meal. I should not have even tasted it — it was brown. Guacamole is not brown unless it is old. I tasted it and it was drenched in lime juice. When I told the waitress, she said «that is how we do it.» After that she became even more surly. My friend’s shrimp was bad — mushy, with an off smell. He sent it back after eating one. The manager came out and said he tasted it and indeed it was bad. He replaced it with a fresher batch. However, I never did receive any fresh guacamole.
