Our fabulous dumplings are made of your choice of beef or potato filling served with your choice of sauces (Savory spicy sauce, Scrumptious soy sauce, or a delightful vinaigrette sauce).

Each portion of dumplings will be seasoned with butter, curry and a dash of cilantro and comes with a piece of Dark Rye Bread, along with a side of sour cream.

Andres is the proud owner/​chef that will be greeting most customers. He has an extensive background traveling all over the world. For this reason he enjoys it when a customer brings in a new bill (money) from their countries :). He will gladly add it to his money wall. Come in and chat with him and enjoy a delicacy from Russia. They do have very limited hours which is Friday-​Sunday from 11:30pm till about 3am. Not sure if it’s temporary hours or permanent, but it’s odd.

For the price the food is good. Not a lot of places to sit but not bad. There is nothing else to eat except dumplings. The beef ones are the best. The guy who runs and owns is very nice and talkative. It is great place to get a light meal.

I’ve had Russian dumplings before in Madison, Wisconsin. These were not as good, probably because they were frozen and not made fresh daily. They were out of the potato, so I only tried the meat. Typically I go for the mix. I got all the accompaniments and the overall flavor was great! If the dough had better texture and didn’t taste like a frozen ravioli, this would’ve been a diamond in the rough restaurant of Anchorage. Great service and really cool atmosphere. Definitely a place to check out. I imagine it would make amazing after bar food.

I love dives but this one seems to be a fake out. The owners are just two random dudes that likes to travel/​party and had Russian dumplings once and decides to open up one.

I had this stuff once before in Bellingham WA and this wasn’t as good, but definitely still worth going. I prefer the beef over the potato. I agree the price is high for the smaller portion, but just be glad you are able to enjoy ethnic foods in Anchorage that you certainly don’t see in even bigger cities. I was excited to see a Russian place, and you should not pass on the opportunity to try this stuff out.

I was looking forward to trying Nane’s Pelmeni, but was decidedly disappointed with the experience. The hours posted are not accurate, so we made several visits before finally being able to try the pelmeni. My sister ordered the potato pelmeni and I ordered the beef. Both, I’d say were below average, and not worth the $ 16. The dough was too thick, the filling was a bit bland, and I did not like the texture.
On another note, I was walking back from dinner at MyThai one night (across the street from Nane’s Pelmeni) and I saw the owner of the restaurant back into another car, a silver Nissan Altima that was parked behind it. It was a minor accident, but as convention, the owner of the Nissan asked for the name, insurance information, etc. but the owner of Nane’s Pelmeni refused. This is legally considered a hit and run accident. As if the substandard food wasn’t enough, I won’t be going back.

I’m a little spoiled because I worked in Russia for two years eating pelmeni often. I liked the pelmeni here but the dough was a bit too thick. It’s a really good drunk food dish but slightly expensive. $ 8 for either beef or potatoes. The staff are really nice though. I would say at least give it a try. It’s pretty yummy.

Some of the best lunch in Anchorage! Beef and potato are both delicious, and though it doesn’t come with a lot, it’s very filling. Make sure you get it with every topping!

I drove around downtown looking for a place I haven’t been to before and spotted this joint. I wasn’t really feeling it but my dining companion did so we stopped in. I thought how quaint.
There were a couple of dudes behind the counter and as I was looking for a menu one guy piped up and said, «You want beef or potato?» (uh, is that Russian for hello?)
What?
«Dumplings. You want beef or potato?»
We both chose one of each and had a combo. Got a soda out of the fridge and paid $ 8 for the dumplings, and $ 1 for the can of soda. We sat outside at one of the outdoor sidewalk tables and waited for our meal. Funnily we joked about the fact that we were searching for the menu and chairs as we walked inside. We walked away to find more to eat and with the delight that we tried something new, but weren’t impressed enough to return. Nice people though.

Nane’s Pelmenis is one of my favorite places to eat and it only takes like 10 minutes and the dumplings are ready. Their dumplings are great at lunch, dinner, and late at night after partying! Fun atmosphere, I think if there were more options as interesting and delicious as their dumplings on their menu they could definitely bring in a lot of business and be #1! Great place, great food, awesome customer service.

Tried their meat pelmini’s. We stopped by twice and they were sold out of potato pelmini’s both times! The dumplings are large and full of spiced meat filling. Topped with curry powder, chili sauce, coriander & a side of sour cream. SO DELICIOUS!!!

They make exactly two things: Potato Pelmeni and Meat Pelmeni.
I had a lovely experience, good food, good conversation with this enthusiastic owner/​chef. Downtown Anchorage needs more authentic places like Nane’s

I love pel meni, but coming from Juneau where it is really popular, Nane’s Pelmeni is quite disappointing.
What’s most disappointing is that it seems like they are never open during posted hours. I would recommend calling first before wasting gas and time going downtown. I’ve only had pels 3 times since they’ve been here in Anchorage. They’re losing business– I definitely would have gotten pels at least 10 times more. It seems like they only open on the weekends for late night goers.
Other than that I really have no complaints about this place except that they don’t accept credit cards (the one in Juneau doesn’t either, but really? this is 2012 and it’s heartbreaking not being able to eat because you don’t have cash). Also the portions don’t justify the price. $ 8 is too much for the 10 dumplings you get one sour cream.
I’m used to paying $ 7 for the dumplings, 2 sour creams, and a drink.
Giving three stars because this place could be really great, but there are just some things Nane’s need to get together.

Just like the classic Pels in the Hanger on the Wharft in downtown Juneau, (
). They do one thing and they do it well: Russian dumplings covered in Sriracha sauce, curry, cilantro, butter and sour cream (with vinegar to taste as well). Served with Rye bread and a drink for those who love the spice.
As a relocated Juneauite, I was elated to find this place as this is as close as you can get to home; delcious, homemade weekly, and very personable downtown atmopshere. I go at least three times a month!
If you’re looking for an in-​and-​out, call ahead for pick up, and be careful when transporting anywhere else or your car will smell like spicy heaven for a while.

This is a very straightforward restaurant. You’ve got two dumpling options, a case of canned sodas, and ice cream sandwiches for dessert — the old school kind wrapped in white waxed paper. And on top of that, one extremely enthusiastic owner/​chef.
Yet, what seems so simple may, in fact, be deceptively complex. How spicy do you want your dumplings? There’s extra hot sauce if you need it. And the owner is emphatic that you should put the sour cream (which comes on the side) on the dumplings and let them sit a little — mix them up — that will really get the flavor ignited. Then, there are the vinegars, rice and white. Which path will you choose? There’s soy sauce, too. Any combination of these condiments could give you a decidedly different dumpling experience!
What hits your mouth, no matter what your enhancements, is warm, beefy and/​or potatoey joy. This is comfort food, plain and simple. It’s delicious for lunch, but will be even better at 2:00 am after you’ve stumbled away from the bar, and indeed, they have VERY late night hours on the weekends.
The amount of dumplings was just right, too. And accompanied by a slice of really great rye bread (I used mine to sop up as much of my sour cream — hot sauce — rice vinegar puddle as I could), you’ll leave feeling happy and satisfied.
