Downtown Wings

Downtown Wings has taken the space once used by Café Savannah and seems to have kept not only the wall décor, but also the funky handcrafted tables. Open and inviting for sit down or take out. While the waitress did an amazing job making sure our drinks were refilled, it seemed the cook had a hard time getting more than one order out at a time. As a former resident of Buffalo NY and once wing cooker (really, if you lived there and ever worked in a restaurant you’ve done it) I was amazed that he wasn’t dropping more than a few wings at a time. I watched 2 take out orders wait for almost an hour… competing for order priority with only 2 tables of 3 or 4 people.
Along the same line as Wings-​n-​Things these are cumin based greasey sauces (not my fave, but some prefer it.) with not as much kick as an authentic hot sauce. They also seemed a bit small for the price… Granted, I’m a wing snob, but I think they can do better.
Our friend ordered a side of olives as well as wasabi hummus and the portions were quite large — an entire side plate of straight up humus! I suppose that in conclusion I would expect better wings from a place which proclaims their mastery of the chicken wing right there in the name… Will give them a try in another 6 months and see what they have learned.
