Had it yesterday and it was pretty good but service was lacking. The workers kept walking by staring at me waiting by the register to order and took 15 minutes to finally ask if they can help me even though they can clearly see the line of customers behind me. Went back again today to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was just bad employees that day. Not the case. An hour before they’re supposed to close I try to order and they tell me they’re closed. Literally the only restaurant in the building that’s «closed». I would understand if it were 15 – 20 minutes to closing because I used to work food service and I know it takes time to clean before they leave. But an entire hour is just lazy. I wouldn’t recommend. Just go downstairs to get fish and better service. I hope they learn and shape up but given the past couple of days of service I doubt it.

I was so excited to try this place and I’m hoping that with my next visit I’ll be more impressed. Went on a Saturday evening and somehow got lucky with street parking. Anaheim packing district can be overwhelming with all of its food options, but after looking at the menu I knew I needed either fish and chips or the Po’ Boy sandwich. I ended up getting the Po’ Boy with Cajun fries. Let me start by saying that I order Cajun fries A LOT. I order it when I go out, I make it at home, and I dream about it at night. Not only were the fries soft and mushy, but they were the SPICIEST Cajun fries I have ever had. I don’t know if it’s always like this, or if I received a bad batch, but it was unexpectedly spicy. Next was the sandwich. It was horribly bland. That was it. The bread was nice, it had a good amount of shrimp in it, and the shrimp wasn’t over cooked, but it just wasn’t a very tasty sandwich. I will definitely give this place another shot and order something else. Hopefully I’ll have a better experience. Not sure if I’ll risk getting the Cajun fries again, but we’ll see how brave I get next time around.

Most disgusting fish and chips ever i have no idea why it was rated 3 and a ½ stars sorry but not sorry. Fish was flavorless and I just feel like throwing up, along with my girlfriend we both didn’t like it nor how it taste. I’m usually a fan of fish and chips but this was ugh wasted my money by buying this and didn’t even finish my meal. The fries were all right but not that satisfying. If you wan to give it a go then it’s all you. I just didn’t like it at all :/other than that casher seems friendly and nice. Prob got a new chef or something.

Was roaming around the Packing House and wanted something a little lighter than the normal BBQ /pizza /grilled cheese /Cajun fare which is prevalent here. I opted to try Chippy’s grilled shrimp poboy(sauces on the side). The poboy was just ok, came with 7 or 8 shrimp, lettuce, tomato, and a chipotle & white sauce. I’m a fan of shrimp, but I guess not poboys but even so, it seemed like just an average sandwich for $ 9. I’d be willing to come back and try their fish wraps(which look like fish tacos) to see how those taste.

It is hard to find good fish and chips and this place is solid for the price. The fish is fresh and flaky. The batter is crunchy and tasty. The fries are good and not soggy when we had it like some other reviews mentioned. My new go to place for fish and chips. Ambience 5⁄5: the packing district is definitely hipster but I’m a sucker for this kind of stuff. It’s like the ferry building in San Fran or grand central market in la but on a much smaller scale with more personality. Fun place to sit, eat, and people watch. There is a mixture of tables, sofas, swings, and stools. It can be tough to find parking and tables on weekends but there seems to be dedicated seating at most shops. Chippy store front is cool and resembles a wooden boat. Food 2 fish, calamari, fries, and drink combo 5⁄5: I think it’s a steal for $ 12. Nowadays, everything is outrageously priced with food truck fries that can run you $ 10. The 2 pieces of fish are huge and perfectly cooked. Diet Coke tasted strange though. Service 3⁄5: cashier was polite, friendly, and patient. Nothing special though.

Chicken strip combo $ 11. Comes with 3 tiny chicken strips, fries and a drink. Took 17 minutes. Not worth it. Everyone who ordered behind me got their food first. WHY?! Then the fryer guy was laughing about it. s0 pR0f3s$i0naL dUD3. uR c0ol. Chicken tasted like fish and fries taste worst than McDonald’s. Refills are 50¢.

I LOVE the packing house and all the diverse options. I had always been curious about chippy and I finally had the chance to try them today. I ordered the seafood combo that comes with chips, fish, 1 shrimp, and some calamari. This costs ~ $ 12. The fish was alright. It lacked any sort of flavor and the fish did not seem all that fresh. The 1 shrimp was alright. Again, it didn’t seem all that fresh. The calamari was pretty good. The chips(which should be the best part since it’s in the name) sucked. They are your standard frozen fries that have been fried and not seasoned even a little bit. I expected so much more from chippy. Needless to say, there are MUCH better options in the packing house that pack a bigger flavor punch. Don’t waste your time(or stomach space) here.

Chip, chips, chippy away… love fish and chips! The last time I was here the fries were cold and soggy; fish didn’t have that crispy texture. And it was wayy salty. Eww. But since it was lunch, why not try again– round dos! Yup, I got the 1 fish combo which doesn’t seem like a lot but the portion is a decent size for me. Plus they gave a me a ton of fries, and a refreshing Coke with refills. I was so excited to eat this. Just adding the vinegar and hint of lemon to this fish made my fish and chips craving completely satisfied. I was one happy full customer. There are other foods to try out like shrimp, calamari, fish fillet, sandwiches, etc. The service gave me a beeper so I was able to walk around and order other foods around the building while waiting for mine to beep haha. Definitely come back when ever I have a fried food craving!

Didn’t know where else to eat besides getting a popbar and I was craving some fish n chips so we stopped by here for lunch! Ordered the fish and calamari combo and a salad! I loved the tartar sauce that they had. It was so bomb. I actually really enjoyed my food from here and it was affordable as well!

I got the grilled shrimp Po boy with garlic fries and my wife got the fish, shrimp and chips. Overall, food was good. We both got combos and paid about $ 26 for both meals. The meals do come with fries and a drink. I paid extra for garlic fries. Overall, I felt it was a bit pricey but one should expect to pay a bit more just for the Packing House«experience».

Wow. Not your average fish ‘n chips. Tried the calamari rings and they were very tender with a crispy batter coating. And the garlic fries were wonderful.

I’m at the Anaheim Packing House every week and I’ve walked by here a million times, but never ate here until this week. For some reason, I assumed the fish & chips would be really greasy. To my surprise and delight, it wasn’t! I ordered the 1 Fish + 1 Shrimp combo. It came with chips(fries) and a drink(bottled water is an option). The food came out quickly and it was a generous portion. First of all, the fish was crispy on the outside and fresh on the inside. The piece of fish was rather large. I’m glad I didn’t get two of them! The shrimp was also crispy on the outside and it was a decent sized jumbo piece. Very little grease. The batter was flavorful and not too thick — just perfect! The condiments are on the side and you can get as many ketchup, tartar sauce & cocktail sauces as you like. Lemons given upon request. They have a nice area off to the side where you can sit. The price of the meal was reasonable — I believe it was all less than $ 10. I will definitely eat here again and would recommend it to others. A tasty place to grab a quick lunch!

It’s alright. Personally, their food needs a bit more seasoning. I’ve ordered the fried fish three times already and it’s always in need of some extra salt. Don’t get me wrong the batter is nice and crispy, but the batter itself needs some seasoning. The shrimp po-boy sandwich can be a hit or miss. Sometimes the sandwich has tons of shrimp and sometimes there’s hardly any. The calamari is good. ACE cider is $ 5. The service is typically pretty bad, especially at night. The employees always have the, «I don’t want to be here» attitude. Always give them at least ten minutes or more for your food to be ready. The location has potential, but so far it hasn’t amazed me..

Fish & Chips were not greasy and generous in portion. We got the combo plate with calamari(also crunchy and delicious) and fries. Tried the shrimp po’boy sandwich and like everything else it was well done. Had a nice kick. Only gripe: soda refills are $ 0.50

I’ve been craving a good authentic meal of fish & chips for months now. Chippy was just what I was looking for! The food is made fresh and tastes delicious. The portions are also HUGE. I assumed they’d be small sizes so I ordered the 4 piece combo. I very easily could’ve gone with the 2 or 3 piece. And I was hungry when I was there. Only complaint is that they don’t really specify where the lines are. We were lined up against the wall of the stand behind a few people because it was a crowded night & we didn’t want to jam up the walkways. Well, we came to find out that the correct line was in front of the register… blocking the flow of traffic! Go figure. And we only found that out because another customer told us after they placed their order. It wasn’t until we were in front of the line that we realized there was a small little sign that read something along the lines of ‘line forms behind green line.’ Wish that was bigger so we could’ve placed our order soon! But other than the line confusion, the meal was totally worth it. If you’re looking for a fantastic fish & chips meal… this is the place!

This place is located in the anaheim packing district, one the first floor near that coffee shop/café. While they seem to be popular for their fish and chips, I ended up getting the Jambalaya, as that was only available on weekends(Fri, Sat, Sun), and I was craving that. So this review is mostly for the Jambalaya. I have to say, I was pretty disappointed with the Jambalaya. The taste was very bland, in the sense that the main seasonings were there, but there was no special taste or anything to connect all the flavors together. It just tasted like a bold Jambalaya taste without anything special to bring the flavors out. It was also mostly just chicken, and it was rather chunky and didn’t really go well together with the dish. The whole thing was served over rice, which did help even out the saltiness of the Jambalaya. The dish was just not that good for me, I feel it needs more flavor, less salt, and something to bring it all together and make it appealing. Overall a pass for me, though I might try their fish and chips in the future.

Hush puppies were good and the fish was moist and flakey. Nice selection of bottled beers and ciders. Didn’t get a chance to try the calamari but my friend said it was just ok. Will definetly give them another shot next time here.

Located in the Packing House, the Chippy is just one of the many food options available. Their name says it all — fish and chips. Fish is fried fresh to order as well as the chips(French fries). You pay, get your number, your number buzzes once your order is done, and you pick up. They have seating at the bar as well as additional seating supplemented by the building itself. Everything tastes sort one noted unless you douse it with lemon. The batter isn’t seasoned so if you like plain fried fish then this is for you.

To me, this place is considered one of the«cheaper» options at the Packing House but cheap doesn’t necessarily mean poor quality. In general, the fish at The Chippy trumps most other fish I have had elsewhere. The fish is flaky and tender and the star of the fish and chips(not the batter or anything else). I do wish the fries were a bit more crispy… usually, they have been a bit too soggy for my personal liking. A bit more seasoning would also be welcomed… salt after being fried is just not the same! In addition to fish, you can get a number of other seafood items or add ons… including their hush puppies– probably one of the better hush puppies I have had. They also have shrimp and calamari as well. On the weekends I believe, they have a jambalaya. I had a taste but with the fish being more of my favorite, I doubt I would ever get that dish. Lots of beers to choose from, either 25 or 50 cents for a refill, and a short wait.

There are a lot of options in the Anaheim Packing District but the Chippy Fish & Grill stands out on appearance because it looks like it would belong on the piers of Redondo Beach. However, the fish and chips were underwhelming for me. The three piece combo is a lot of food when you consider the bed of fries that it is served on. The fish breading was very soggy and not crisp. One of the three maintained some crispness to the breading but those numbers aren’t great. The fish itself was okay but lacked great flavor. Not even using their sauces generously could save that. Finally, the fries were not crisp either. It got to a point where I couldn’t even finish the meal because nothing really popped with flavor or texture. They may make it to order but the other problem being that the food cools off so fast that you end up eating lukewarm fish and chips. The jambalaya was alright as well. If you want depth of seasoning and flavor then you won’t get that with this version. It is Cajun/Creole in name only as it ends up tasting like a regular stew. I had high hopes for The Chippy Fish & Grill, it certainly grabs your attention when you’re making a choice of where to dine in the APD but like a lot of the APD it does not quite measure up to the hype.
