Olaf’s Snow Fest

I probably would have enjoyed this if I was 5 years old. It’s not much of a location from anyone over the age of say 14. It’s pretty much Frozen land, but without rides and snow you’re told you’re not allowed to touch.
Still if I was a child I would be in Heaven as there is someone in an Olaf suit ready to take pictures with you as long as you wait in the really long line. I mean really long.
Still, while it might not work for me, it doesn’t mean it won’t make your child scream in glee.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
This is THE place to get your snow fix at California Adventure. You can sled down a hill, throw snowballs and even meet Olaf. This was the reason we came by the area, but there are plenty of cool (get it, cool?) activities to entertain kids of all ages. There’s even some unexpected snowfall to top off the fun.

I only came here to take a picture with Olaf! But it’s a cute set up with an area to play in the snow and to slide down on toboggans. There was live music playing and a little area to get snacks and hot cocoa while enjoying all the things going on.

This shindig is located where the old Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? game show used to be. Now, in its second year, it’s a snow area. It’s typically so crowded though, and the snow is basically ice anyway, that’s there’s really no point to going in unless you really want to wait an hour or so to meet the character.
There are some musicians as well as a toboggan hill (which is a separate line from the characters or just going into the snow area).
There’s also a little snack bar with some specialty drinks.
All in all, I don’t really have an incentive to go back in here, unless I have some time to kill, but hey, Disney sure is capitalizing on the Frozen craze, can’t blame them.

It’s literally the Arendale courtyard inside Olaf’s Snow Fest. Check out the fountain and clock. The decorations are on point. If you know a Frozen fan, then they will love it here. You can have a snowball fight and sled indoors. What?! Yeah, they took a play out of the Dubai playbook and turned into a Frozen wonderland. See what I did there?
Olaf’s Snow Fest is great if there isn’t a line. When we went, there were people sure but no line. There are specialty food items sold at the cart: Swedish meatballs, cheese platter, snowman veggie kit, Frozen themed cookies & rice crispy treats, cotton candy, mini corn dog bites, and white hot chocolate. There is also a mini merchandise cart there as well where you can buy your own stuffed Olaf or Olaf hat. They really did think this one out folks. It’s sort of amazing. This is a temporary exhibit until May.

So I’ll admit I’m one of those haters for the Frozen movie because so many of my fan girl friends wouldn’t shut up about it, but this magical place will melt the frozen heart. Our first time here, it was really really impressive. I mean it’s snowing inside guys, like really? Really? It’s freaking snowing inside a building and there a ice sled area. You could have a mini snowball fight in the middle of sunny Los Angeles! I don’t remember what was here before and I frankly don’t care, it’s just impressive, immersive, and cool.
OLAF!
The second time here, we came inside just to look around and weren’t going to go play in the snow or take a picture with Olaf, but we had a baby with us and some kind castmember asked us if we would like to take a picture with Olaf and he let us jump the hour-​long wait and go take a picture with our warm-​hug-​loving snowfriend (I know I had the cynical comment above, but I actually really like Olaf =). It was actually really awesome and that really just made the experience. Good job Disney.

Do you want to meet a snowman?
Olaf’s Snow Fest is a character meet and greet where you can meet everyone’s favorite living snowman and get a hug from him (he loves warm hugs, you know). While there’s the usual gift kiosks in the area, there’s also a band that plays in the gazebo every so often, and there’s a play area made up to look like Arendelle’s frozen courtyard where one can play in the «snow» and go down a slide on a tobaggan. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to play around in the area, but that’s what return visits are for (holla, annual passholders!).
Be warned, the wait to get into Olaf’s Snow Fest can take up to two hours (it’s much less if you want to play in the snow area… assuming you can get in after the workers clean it up), and unlike the Anna and Elsa meet & greet or the Frozen Sing-​Along Celebration, there’s no Fast Pass option. We waited until the wait time was about one hour to get into line — once we got to the front, we were given a pager that would buzz when our turn to meet Olaf was ready (just be sure not to stray past the Tower of Terror or Carthay Circle — that’s the pager range).
Definitely worth stopping by if you’re a Frozen fan (like we are) and you’ve seen everything in DCA (which isn’t impossible, given the size of the park). Make sure to see Olaf before the attraction goes away… «In suuuuummer!»

Awwwww I loved Olaf’s Snow Fest! It’s superrr cute and sooo much fun and best of all you get to meet Olaf and get a warm fuzzy hug from him!
Sooo, I was determined to meet Olaf, last time we didn’t have luck but thankfully to my good Unilocal friend Michelle she told me what to do. So you want to meet Olaf this is what you need to do.
First thing was I went to the cast member I asked her how long the wait would be how I would get the pager etc. You need to get a pager in order to meet Olaf, it’s a MUST without the pager no Olaf. That’s what happened to us last time. =(
Okay soo the cast member was super helpful, super nice and very informative. She told me that the snow is down right now but if I come back at 2:30 pm the snow will be back up and that I should be able to get a pager, she told me that the wait wasn’t that long and should be 45mins to meet Olaf. So I did end up leaving and went around Hollywood Land. I came back at 2:25pm there were others in line however 5 mins later a cast member came out and said pagers were available and that we could go in.
So we got the PAGER woo hoo. So once you get the pager you get a wait time and you can either stay in Olaf’s Snow Fest to play in the snow or you can browse Hollywood Land but you want to make sure you don’t pass a certain area as your pager may not work. We opted to stay in Olaf’s Snow Land and played in the snow, it was soo much fun. The ice itself is cold we tried making a snow man but after 30 seconds I gave up, it was cold but when your there it’s not too cold just touching it. So not only can you play in the ice you can also go on a sled ride, so riders 7 and above can ride solo but anyone below this age needs to parent to ride with them. So we waited about 10 – 15 mins for the sled ride, they give you a sled and when they say go you gooooo. It was so muchhhh fun!
Sooo after we finished playing in the snow we walked around the snow fest and browsed around and looked at the food stands and the merchandise they were selling. They have different options of corn dog bites, hot chocolate, pretzels, build your own snowman cookies, etc. The merchandise has all types of Frozen characters from sweaters, to hats, to pens, pencils, ornaments and stuffed animals.
I opted to NOT buy anything and just loook around. Finally our pager began to buzz and we were directed to stand in line. I would say we did wait about 40mins in total to meet Olaf but it was totally worth it. The cast members are soo nice, they take pictures for you, you can talk to Olaf and hug him and just huggg him even more. I would say we spent a good 4 – 5 mins with him and took a ton of pictures.
The wait was long but it was worth it. I wouldn’t wait more than 45mins though. We are both Happy to meet Olaf.

Whoever actually made it into the snow area must have had some very persistent kids. I have none and came with friends and I was sooooo excited to build a snowman (cause lets be real how often can you really do that without leaving LA city limits? Lol) but we stopped by here twice yesterday only to be told the snow was «not ready» and needed to be refluffed. So we’s have to come back in an hour. Neither of these times were we told that the wait for the snow once it was ready is also an hour –_​_​_​_​_​_​_​– we found THAT out on out third return. By that time we were all over it and resigned ourselves to drowning our disappointment in Glowing Rum Flurries.
Disney is usually very on top of things and I love them to death but hyping up an attraction that has to be shut down every other hour for an hour knowing the eeeeeeveryone will want to experience it is just ill planned.

To meet Olaf you go to the right and wait in a line for a pager (pager has a good range) then come back to this spot when it’s your turn.
There is a band that plays frequently. A snow play area that has some toys and a snow slide. Snow slide is for 3 and up. Kids that are small need a grown up.
There are snack and gifts sold inside as well.

How long are you willing to wait in two or three lines? Yes, I said two or three.

If you’re looking for warm hugs from Frozen’s favorite talking snowman, then look no further.
The good: There’s a snack bar with tables & chairs along with a gift shop to check out more Frozen merch here. The yummy hot cocoa has pink marshmallows and is great for a chilly night. Sometimes a band plays at the gazebo. This is where you can take photographs with Olaf and also play in the «snow» or slide down on a toboggan. Mini-​me enjoyed throwing ice chunks at me, but apparently snowball fights are frowned upon. The Disney attendant reminded us of how upset Marshmallow became when Anna threw a snowball at him. It’s a timed event, but as they clear the snow area for grooming you’re allowed to get back in line.
The bad: Like other artificial snow parks, it’s icy conditions. Be careful because falling on packed ice is not as forgiving as powder snow. The wait time for either Snow Play or Meet Olaf can run 15 – 45 minutes for each separate line. They try to limit the number of people inside by distributing pagers outside so you can hover nearby, like at Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post. Woohoo!
The ugly: The line queue outside for getting a pager can run up to 120 minutes. Two friggin hours! I love my kid and all, but sheesh that’s way too long to be in a line. We bailed on the daytime wait and returned at night, which actually paid off. The outside line was maybe less than an hour. The queue was mostly empty and didn’t snake back and forth like before. Luckily for us, we stood in line for about 15 minutes when a good samaritan walked over. I thought she knew me or something. She simply handed me a pager and said that they were just leaving for the night. Yay for good karma.
If you’re budgeting for time, then figure an approximate wait of about 3 hours. Not a big deal for passholders, but it’s something to consider if you’d like to explore other areas of the park and enjoy more attractions in a single park visit.
Yeah, waiting sucks almost as bad as when Kristoff lost his freshly lacquered sled in a mountain accident, but did Mini-​me have a good time at Olaf’s Snow Fest? Of course she did.

Well where to begin without sounding like a Debbie Downer! (Womp, womp!)
I gave this place three chances! All three times it disappointed me! As you walk in your wowing and aweing, thinking «Wow this is real snow»! There are snow slides off to the left. In the rear there is the Olaf meet and greet! Over to the right is the snack area! In the center is where the snow is! There is also live music going on and if you listen to the lyrics you’ll notice the are just singing gibberish!
If you want to build a snowman, there’s fake carrots, eyes and sticks! This is enjoyed by the kids because they get to touch and feel! But come on Disney… they could have splurged for a bigger snow area! With the amount of «guests» they new they were going to be having! I was seriously dissatisfied!
Then they have snow slides with toboggans! Three slides for all the kids and adults to experience! Once again it’s cute but the area is so small! Disney should have really found a bigger area! It just feels so restricted! My kids loved and I’m sure every other kid in there loved it, too! I wonder how many kids are catching colds this evening?
TIP 1: Remember to take extra socks for yourself and the kiddos! Shoes will get wet!
TIP 2: GET THERE AS EARLY AS YOU CAN! Get your Fastpasses for the sing along! Then go to the meet and greet! It will bring you to the snow, or you can get in line on the left side of the building just to get in the snow area! You will also be able to squeeze in a quick visit to Animation Academy to draw while waiting for the show!
It’s just Frozen overload!!! Please stop already!

Seen fellow Unilocalers check in and I knew it would be something my daughter would love. Went yesterday and it was crazy packed with a wait of 2 hours to do the meet and greet with Olaf.
The wait wasn’t as bad since they made you wait to receive a pager (45 min), then they allowed us to go inside to see the singer and play in the snow. Kinda sucked cause we had to wait an additional 30 or so minutes for the workers to go in and loosen up the snow. Once we got in and finished we got a page that it was ready for us to to the meet and great.
Pretty much got everything covered in about 1.45hrs on a busy Disney day.

Super cute… there’s a snow pile to slide down, a snow area to play in, Olaf meet & greet & tons to snack & merch!
The little food stands offer corn dog bites, white hot chocolate with a optional red minty marshmallow, gourmet pretzels, caramel popcorn, build your own snowman cookies and other offerings. The veggie cup that looks like Olaf is adorable (!) and healthy!
