Olaf’s Frozen Ice Rink

This place is a freaking joke. Come here if you want excruciating foot pain, cheap ass rental skates and bitter staff. At first, I thought it was cute, but when I started skating, me and my bf both complained about our feet! We tried 2 different skate sizes and one was either too loose causing inability to skate and too tight causing too much pain to skate. Even upon taking off my skates I got scraped and needed a bandage.
I wanted a refund because we only skated literally around the rink ONCE! and couldn’t tolerate their cheap skates. They didn’t even say sorry that they couldn’t negotiate a refund.
This ice rink is not even Disney. Whatever company they are, they’re a freaking joke!
AVOID AT ALL COST!

This ice rink is a perfect addition to dtd. Last year was my daughter’s first time ice skating now she loves it, staff is always great.

Disney is bringing a little Frozen to Orange County, and I’m not just talking about the movie, but an ice rink! Located in Downtown Disney, right in front of the Earl of Sandwich restaurant is this quaint, man made ice rink.
They let you skate in time increments, and its $ 12 for kids and $ 17 for adults, and $ 3 for socks. You can’t do any fancing skating, as the rink is small. You just go around and around in circles, making the 1 ½ hour time limit quite adequate.
Helmets are worn by skaters for their protection.

We drove almost an hour to skate at Olaf’s Frozen Ice Rink. It was our first time to ice skate. When the manager told us to come back at 4:30, we thought our session was to start at 4:30, not to end as we got our bands almost 3:45. For something timed, I wouldn’t want to start halfway done. We walked around Downtown Disney and went back 30 minutes early to buy socks and check to see if we could start the process. The staff told us even after discovering the misunderstanding that we had 30 minutes to skate or lose what we paid for. My husband got upset as it will take us 5 – 10 minutes to gear up leaving us to skate for 20 minutes. Also, she and the relief manager, as the manager on duty was not available, stated there is no refund even if we didn’t skate at all and if we wanted to skate on the next session we had to pay again. I felt so bad for my two kids as they were excited to skate. I didn’t think it was right to pay double and at the same time did not want to leave without letting my kids skate as it is the main reason we drove there. The two ladies didn’t care if we left not skating even it was paid for. So, I proceeded to try to notify guest service to help me find a resolution. My kids and I had to walk to the other end to guest service as telephone service was closed. Luckily after 30 minutes since the incident, the manager came back to the rink and told my husband he will let us in on the next session. What bothered us though, he told us we had to apologize to the staff for my husband being upset. She was just doing her job because he said there are people doing schemes and that they, the ice rink, are in the business of making money. All we wanted was to pay for what is due and have a good family time skating. It was our first bad experience at Disney and my first time to write a review as it didn’t go along with our expectation as the happiest place on earth. I hope next time the staff will let the manager decide and not take it upon herself to give a cut, dry ultimatum especially in front of the children. So I still gave it a 2 because despite that my kids had fun skating, the place was safe, and the 3 of us learned how to skate without holding on in one session, something that wouldn’t have been accomplished if we skated only for 20 minutes. We’ve done Disney cruise, annual passes, and Disney World. Because of the way they handled our situation and the stress it caused, I think we will avoid Disney as there are so many other places to see and experience.

Ice rink in the middle of downtown Disney? Yes! Located right outside of ESPN Zone this little rink is a seasonal gem. It’s little – so you’re not going to get a lot of speed on this ice but it’s perfect for the novice skater or someone seeking ice rink nostalgia. Check the times so you optimize your ice time. We showed up in the last 30 minutes of a session and luckily I was able to get a discount on our ice time. It was truly a blast. I definitely recommend if you are visiting.
Also, they play the Frozen soundtrack over and over and over :) let it go…

Our family has been visiting Disneyland every year since Lauren was 2 making this trip Lauren’s sixth and Cade’s fourth time to the Happiest Place on Earth. What made this year special was that we visited in December so we could experience the theme park in all its holiday glory.
In my previous experience, the first week of December seemed like an off peak time but possibly with the popularity of Cars Land at Disney’s California Adventures Park and the hoopla surrounding Elsa and Frozen, an off peak time in December no longer exists. Because let me tell you, the parks were crowded; the property hotels were expensive; and the lines were long.
The holiday decorations were spectacular and the Christmas magic was everywhere. One holiday perk my children especially loved was Olaf’s Frozen Ice Rink that was located in Downtown Disney near the Disneyland Hotel. It’s a small rink surrounding a beautiful, towering Christmas tree and a perfect alternative to fighting the crowds in the parks.
Both my children are beginners so I really appreciated that the ice skates were double blades making it a lot easier for them to balance. Helmets are also required for all skaters and are provided free of charge. While I skated with my kids, I liked that there were employees on the ice ready to help up any fallen children.
Admissions prices are $ 17 for adults and $ 15 for children ages 3 to 9 with discounts for active military, annual pass holders and guests of the Disneyland Resort Hotels. Admission will get you 90 minutes of skating time. They are open from 3pm-​10pm Sunday through Thursday and from 3pm-​11pm on Friday and Saturdays. Hurry, the ice rink will only be around through February.

Absolutely get there early, it gets packed. My kid had a blast, though it can be hard to weave through all of the downed parents on the ice. The staff are really great and pay very close attention to the kids, making sure everyone is okay. Make sure you wear thick socks, as the rental skates for adults are not fantastic. They have clips instead of laces, so they rub a lot. The kids rental skates are laced and pretty decent skates. They even have the double bladed skates.

They are no longer there but Unilocal is still keeping them on. Now we are stuck with 6 disappointing kids…

This is so much fun!
Get there at least 15 minutes before the opening time! The line gets pretty long, and it takes a while to get tickets, shoes and helmet!
It’s $ 12 for kids and $ 17 for adults, socks are $ 3 more! They give you 1 ½ to 2 hrs to skate! It might seem like that’s a little bit of time but it’s more than enough!
It would be really awesome if the characters from the movie ‘Frozen’ made an appearance! If they do, I haven’t seen them! It does get a bit chilly, so bring a sweater!
No parking validation! :)
