«We had gone in 2012,13 and 14, the 1^st 2 years were great. The rides had short lines but I think they sold a lot more tickets in 2014 and the lines for everything were long. I think we will be skipping it for 2015»

2014 was our 1^st time coming to Mickey’s Halloween Party & well it is now going to be a tradition for us. We had an excellent time, the longest line we stood in was a Trick or Treat Trail… and that was about 20 minutes before getting our 1^st handful of Treats. Rides were practically walk right on… the Parade is fantastic & the Fireworks display is amazing.
TIP…Bring plenty of bags, they’ll get full FAST. We had 5 of us, each with a bag, we ended up with over 20 pounds of candy.

Only giving this years 4 stars couple of times there were no fireworks. I know this happens but it always seamed to happen when I took in guests or family not when I went by myself. The other issue I had was that they were skimpy on the candy. I was not the only one to notice this. The lines were long so you could spend most of the night waiting in line. I only say this because in past years it was different. Otherwise it was great the weather was perfect and overall I had a great time. so yes I know I am being picky but then I paid for so why shouldn’t I lol.

We attended Mickey’s Trick or Treat party for the first time last Friday, October 18^th. We had such an amazing experience that my husband and I are planning to make this an annual visit. We entered the park exactly at 7 pm and picked up a few copies of the Halloween map as well as a few trick or treat bags. Tip: Make sure you bring one big bag to dump all of your goodies because the one they provide for you isn’t big enough and will probably fill up after visiting one treat trail.
I definitely agree with the other reviewers that you should keep going and skip the lines with the treat trails because there are plenty all across the park. I think we hit up around 5 treat trails and we must have had at least 10 lbs of candy from those trails.
The transition from closing to the public to opening up the Halloween party gets crowded in main street but once the transition is complete, it’s AWESOME!
I had the best time. The rides for lines aren’t too long but the lines for pics with the halloween characters are LOOOOONG! We didn’t even attempt to line up for some of them.
I made sure my son had a long late nap so we could fully enjoy the party. My two year old was awake for their 10:30 pm parade and we had front row seats so it was amazing! We had such a wonderful time. We didn’t get great seats for the fireworks because we just got off the Pirates of the Carribean but we were able to catch the last 5 minutes of it and it was so much fun. I can’t wait to return. My son was so happy and seeing the smile on his face made it all worthwhile. We will definitely return.

This time around I went with my co-​worker, her daughter, and my nephew. Going on a weekday was even better and a lot less crowded. Together, my nephew and I probably got 5 lbs of candy after going through all the trick-​or-​treat lines. Some candy trails only had one Cast Member handing out candy, so that made some of the lines long.
We were able to get on it’s a small world after waiting 10 minutes whereas Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Haunted Mansion had no wait at all. The fireworks show was spectacular; watch it from the front of the castle.
This was the best way to visit Disneyland; tickets were cheaper and it wasn’t crowded.

I have been a pass holder for the last few years now, and I have gone to Disneyland my entire life and this year was the first year I went to Mickeys Trick or Treat Party. I will point out the pros and the cons I felt, for the event, I went on a Tuesday evening.
Pros:
— Going to the party, you are already allowed to go into the park up to 3 hours before your event starts, so if it starts at 6pm, you can be at Disneyland starting at 3pm! (believe me, you will want to do this because the party will go by QUICKLY!)
— This is the only time that everyone can dress in FULL BLOWN costumes. Its a lot of fun to see how creative everyone can get
— The price is less than a one day Disney ticket, and like I stated before, you can arrive before the party starts (parking is included) and you can get some rides out of the way.
— Speaking of rides, when we went on a Tuesday, the longest wait we had was 15 minute for the rides, not long AT ALL. The only thing I would say is that, even though it is only a 15 minute wait, try to go early and get your favorite rides out of the way, because there will be a lot of specialty events happening throughout the park during the event, you don’t want to waste your time waiting at the rides when you can be doing other activities especially fore Mickeys party.
— There is a great map that shows you where all the treat, specialty food and merchandise locations are at!
Cons:
— The lines are VERY long to take photos with the characters so arrive early for the lines! Mickey and Minnie, and Jack and Sally I felt had the longest waits
— The lines for Trick or Treating also get very long.
— I enjoyed the fact that there is an event almost every hour (fireworks, parade etc) but realistically, to see all of those gets hard. We watched the parade, then grabbed dinner at one of the restauranrts near the castle, then rode the Buzz Astro Blasters (wait was less than 10 minutes) and by the time we got out, the fireworks already started! I would recommend watch the parade, grab dinner at the reastaurants close by and get a nice outdoor table with views of the castle.
I hope I mentioned everything and this will help someone out. To go once I think is a good idea, but it isn’t that exciting to go every year. There isn’t THAT much special entertainment that they have. But for the cost, if you are trying to save money, go to the event! You don’t even have to dress up and you can have at most 8 hours into the park, which is about the amount most people can stand anyways!

Becoming a welcomed Halloween tradition! Get your tickets in advance and you will leave with soooooo many candy treats! Ive seen Ghiardeli (sp??) chocolates, Cranraisins, snickers, milky ways, tootsie pops, twix, etc. Always a big selection of treats! Be sure to read your event guidelines and costume rules and HAVE FUN! I’ve gone the last 3 years and we always go in large groups. It is such a fun event! Love getting to dress up right along with the kids. Able to get on all the popular rides within minutes and of course, if you go closer to Halloween, it will get busier.

We had a lot of fun at Mickey’s Trick or Treat Party. It was definitely fun to see the crazy costumes people were wearing. Mickey spares no expense on his candy budget either. We left with at least five pounds of candy-​mostly good stuff too (Hershey’s and Mars brands).
There are lots of photo opportunities with characters who aren’t normally in the park like the bad guys or Star Wars storm troopers, but lines were pretty long.
On the other hand, there were very minimal lines for rides. We rode the Matterhorn three times in about 15 minutes then walked right on to Space Mountain.
The Halloween parade isn’t all that good at least compared to Soundsational or other «normal» park parades, but the fireworks were awesome. Jack from Nightmare Before Christmas is the host and the show features a lot of other Disney «bad guys,» but the bad guys sure know how to put on a good show!
Overall it was an interesting experience.

It was alot of fun. Cant wait for next year.

My wife and I always like a good excuse for a costume party, and we like to visit Disneyland every few years.
We dressed as bride and groom ghosts — «Just Buried».
The park was fairly crowded when we got there; around 6 – 8 they clear out the day crowd and let in the night crowd. Lines during the transition were a bit long, but later they weren’t bad. We went on several of the rides.
I really didn’t like what they’d done to the Haunted Mansion for «Nightmare Before Christmas» — I’d rather stay with the classics, this just seemed silly.
Pirates was my favorite, as always. We should have pre-​reserved a seat at the Blue Bayou restaurant — will try to remember next time. Instead we had corn dogs and fish fingers nearby.
There was no line for Big Thunder — should have ridden it repeatedly.
Don’t miss Winnie the Pooh’s hallucinogenic dream ride!
They really need to re-​do the queue area for Space Mountain — it feels like a boring convention center, up till you get inside the building. How about some info about space exploration? A video of the Mars Rover would be great — or even some still photos?
All the lines for photo ops were too long, so we didn’t bother waiting.
My wife is into the candy — I think sugar is poison; so she went through the lines and grabbed a bag. I’m glad they had a few healthy treats — apples and crasins. But it was nice to see inside a few venues we might not have visited otherwise.
Decided there’s no reason to wait for halloween to go to Disney in costume.
And since you’re still reading — if you’re into Disney, go find the ebook «Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom» — it’s about Disney World, but it has some really interesting ideas about crowdsourcing and made me think of the park differently.

Came home with over 10lbs of candy between me and the bf :) Cute kids in costumes, near empty rides… wonderful experience and amazing staff as always! If you are looking for a thrilling environment, go to Universal or Knotts… but a safe family environment filled with sights and entertainment is definitely all Disney!

A Disney Virgin, Me? It was my first time attending Mickey’s Trick or Treat Party and it was great, especially if you love people watching and getting to see all the children in their costumes. One complaint I have about today’s times is that children do not go out trick or treating on Halloween (at least not like they did back in the day) so as an adult I miss seeing all the kids in their costumes of choice.
Disneyfied Special 1: Fireworks!!! Jack Skellington is your master of ceremonies, Zero is flying above the castle, music is pumping in tune and time with the different fireworks, some of your favorite villians make a voice appearance, including bad old Oogie Boogie (love the Night. Bef. Chris. music)
Disneyfied Special 2: Parade! Only got to see the tail end of this (had to get a bite to eat at Holly Jolly), but we were seated at outside tables basically overlooking Main St. and the kiddies all looked like they were having a blast seeing their fave Disney characters in special costume for the Halloween Cavalcade.
Disneyfied Special 3: Candy Stations! You are given a special map at entry for the event that shows where you can get the sweet stuff. As I really know my way around Disneyland, this wasn’t necessary for our group and we just cruised around and when you saw a line (that clearly wasn’t for a ride), you get in and move along to the 3 – 6 candy stops along the way in each section.
Side bar re candy: Diablo was saddened because there was no caramel filled Ghiradellhi chocolate squares. Apparently those were at candy stations last year and who knew that ravens loved caramel so much?!
Disneyfied Special 4: Dance Parties! No time for this, but we did hear the great dance music (I danced around and sang a bit with others in my group) while waiting for candy. I did see people in, and actually dancing at Piratepalooza at Rancho del Zocalo.
Disneyfied Special 5: Rides! Lines are virtually non-​existent, even Space Mountain transformed into Ghost Galaxy was short.
My daughters did their part and dressed as a trio and we were stopped many times so they could be complimented.
Sleeping Beauty even has a new best friend in Belle! If that does not warm the cockles of your heart, than you do not have one! (the beautiful little Belle’s name is Alaska, unique right?)
While I didn’t dress the part, (I refused to be the prince or his horse Samson, and hey, I’m not quite old enough to be one of the 3 good fairies), I did get a great pic with a very friendly and in the spirit Disney cast member.
This was just a great time overall and I would definitely consider coming back. We did save some buckage as we got in on the premium passholder discounted rate of $ 46 and this event is ticketed at its highest at $ 69. I highly recommend this for children: they love candy, they love dressing up in costume, and I don’t know of a child around that doesn’t love Disney.

Disneyland at Halloween is FANTASTIC. I highly recommend that everyone go and experience Halloween Time at least once. The thing is, you don’t need to go to the Trick-​or-​Treat Party to get the experience. We actually had more fun in the park the day BEFORE the Trick-​or-​Treat Party than during. The only thing the party offers you is the chance to wear a costume (which young kids are allowed to do during normal times), see the special parade, go to dance parties, and get candy. The dance parties looked cool for the older kids, but young ones are going to want to trick-​or-​treat, and that is a magnificent waste of time. My best tip is to save the trick-​or-​treating for LATER, when everyone is sick of it and there are no lines. You could seriously walk out of Disneyland with a year’s worth of candy if you wanted to. If you try to trick-​or-​treat right away, you will spend the first half of the night in lines. Also, if you want to get your photo taken with some of the special Halloween characters (Jack Skellington, Jack Sparrow, Villains, etc.), be prepared to wait in more lines. And the rides? Yep… long lines. They really pack people in for this event, so be prepared for crazy crowds.
Ghost Galaxy Space Mountain and the Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion are open for a whole month. The decorations are great without the party (they do add a few Mickey-​shaped ghosts for the event). The characters are in their Halloween costumes during the day. Do yourself a favor and go see all of this… but skip the party.

I went to the ¹⁰⁄₂₉ — Friday party which was about $ 69.00. I loved the free parking in the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure!
Come dressed up in your favorite costume as it makes the experience so much FUNNER! =)
As soon as you walk in they give you a map, goody bag for collecting candy in and a Halloween Party bracelet as the cast members ask you as you walk around.
It wasn’t as busy as the park usually is so I was able to ride Ghost Galaxy (Space Mountain) and the Jack Skellington version of Haunted Mansion.
I trick-​or-​treated only when the lines weren’t crazy busy. Towards the end of the night they just start dumping candy in your bags by the handful just to get rid of it. The candies were tootsie rolls, milky ways, snickers, now and laters and lemon heads. They also offer freeze dried apple slices that are sugar, gluten, and milk free and kosher. They tasted really yummy.
I really enjoyed seeing the parade and fireworks! I loved the fireworks as they projected Jack Skellington and a whole bunch of other disney villains.
I got to meet a variety of villains, Aladdin, princesses and Jack Skellington himself! Don’t forget your camera and Autograph book! I danced in Tomorrowland with Buzz Lightyear and the Toy Soldiers.
And then ended my night getting Halloween Disney Pins on Main St.

Mickey’s Trick Or Treat Party, I went here last friday with a friend of mine, it was really last minute, so I was kind of bummed that we didn’t dress up! I went last year and I had a lot of fun, I mean Disneyland Park only open to a handful of people that purchase tickets, everyone is dressed up in costume, well not everyone considering we were part of that group, candy stations everywhere as well… and on top of that short wait times on rides that are usually über long!!!
When we first walked towards the park near the bag check, they had a sign that tonights even was sold out… so I was a little worried that it was gonna be super packed. To my surprise it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
there were some creative and amazing costumes that were there, had me staring and just saying Wooow all the time. Some costumes were so good, I couldn’t tell when the actual Disneyland characters were walking in the crowd I thought it was someones costume!
During this event, Disneyland turned two spots into pretty much a little dance area, the small little area near thunder railroad was Pirate palooza, had a dj and people were dancing. I did see the chipmunks there dancing with the crowd. Second where the Jedi Training is usually held at in tomorrow land, it turned into buzz lightyear dance party or something, Buzz Lightyear was in the crowd, as well as toy soldiers and buzz lightyear girls, which by the way looked amazing!
The fire work show was pretty cool, loved that they projected Jack’s head on the castle with a little blow up white ball thingy. The only thing what sucked was there wasn’t that much of a breeze, so when there was a lot of fire works, a huge cloud would linger in the front and prevented some of the fire works to be seen, but it was still really cool to watch.
I did notice that a lot of the Disney characters are out during this time, for I saw a lot of characters I have never seen outside during Disneyland regular park hours.
Other than that, this event is really fun with your family, or even with just a couple of people. They have candy stations every where, so pick up a whole bag of candy, and eat them while your walk around the park and/​or waiting to get on a ride!
Will for sure be coming back next year, and this time it will be planned out, and will be in costume!

Do your homework before you go to Disneyland and find out which nights hosts the party because if you do not purchase a separate ticket you will be escorted (nicely) out of the park when it closes for the party (although I wondered if some people hide out in the bathroom). You get a wrist band but I am still amazed at how Cast Members could tell if you had one or not as some costumes had long sleeves that covered the wrists.
We had a 3-​Day Park Hopper Pass but didn’t want to get kicked out of the park early for the party so we purchased tickets online for a 4^th day and that was a good decision as we were able to enter the park three hours before the party started (we went in at 3 PM and stayed til closing at midnight). Check hours as some nights end at 11 PM.
PROS of the party:
— Candy for the kids (and parents too) — we ended up lugging back 5 lbs of candy in our suitcase! Healthy treat options are available such as packages of baby carrots and apple slices. Take a back pack as the treat bags are small and will soon overflow. Inspect candies if your child is allergic to peanuts.
— Less crowded as non-​ticket holders are escorted out and only a limited amount of tickets are sold. We jumped on rides when everyone was at the shows.
— Kids and adults get to dress up and the weather was perfect as it was cooler. Check guidelines online for costume apparel.
— Fireworks show… amazing ! Get down to Main street early and stake out part of your space as it gets crowded very quickly. Get there a half hour early. Initially everyone is sitting down but when the show starts everyone stands up.
CONS:
— Really LOUD gunfire from the Phantasmic show will catch you off-​guard if you are not expecting it.
— Pirates of the Caribbean was closed :-(I know they have to do maintenance but why October??? Why not Easter or something? Pirates, bones and skeletons = October = Halloween.
— Certain parts of the parks close early to set up for the fireworks but the fireworks are worth it!
It was worth every penny and in fact a better deal than the daily rate even if you could only get in during Halloween Party hours.

Trick or treating in disneyland at a ridiculously high price… understood. Treat stations are set up throughout the park for kids to gather their loot. Both healthy and sugar snacks are provided. Décor is phenomenal… and crowds are minimal since they sell limited tickets.
Its a must try. but start saving up your change to party with Mickey next october… for a family of four it will set you back well over $ 200

You can only get in when you have a special event ticket. They give you special wristbands, so they can easily weed out non-​ticketed guests. They also provide trick-​or-​treat bags for all your candies!
Rides are similar during regular admission!
But if you don’t go to this special event, you will miss out on:
— Free parking. c’mon! its 15 $ to get in, unless you have an annual parking pass.
— LOTS OF CANDIES, there are numerous candy stations and all cast members give you a lot.
— Not so crowded, rides are approximately 15−30mins
— Fireworks and parade show is awesome! make sure to station yourself closer to the castle. (during the fireworks)

I’m sure the cynic and the skeptic out there will say Disney is ruining Halloween just like how they ruin Christmas/​the holiday season with their whacked out commercialism and Mickey-​ification of a sacred season. I, my friend, am NOT one of those cynics and I worship all things Disneyland related.
I took my nieces to Mickey’s Trick or Treat 2 years ago (2008) when it was still hosted at Disney’s California Adventure. We enjoyed trick or treating (especially getting HANDFULS of Ghiradelli squares), the parade, the short wait for rides/​food, etc. There was an extremely long line to take pictures with characters and it was a quick wham-​bam-​snap-​shot-​thank-​you-​for-​the-​picture moment. I would have given the 2008 Mickey’s Trick or Treat experience a 4 because I enjoyed the candy and the unique Disney take on Halloween. My sister and her husband took the kids the next year and they were totally bored (see my comment above about the cynics and skeptics, I get it, Disney fanaticism is not for everyone…)
This year, I took the same nieces to the Trick or Treat event held at Disneyland and if I could, I would give the event 100 stars. Having the event at Disneyland made a total difference. First, we had early entrance and were able to enter the park and enjoy a corn dog before the cart was closed. At the entrance, the cast members did a great job at getting people their wristbands and directing us where to go (my niece’s wing on her butterfly costume was falling apart so we were directed to first aid for safety pins). Throughout the night, cast members paid attention to who had wristbands or not, I definitely felt like they had a handle on the situation.
After costume repair, we were off to Fantasyland for attractions and trick-​or-​treating. I’ve never seen such short lines for rides. The trick-​or-​treat stations were crowded but moved fast. No fancy candy (e.g. Ghiradelli squares) this year but cast members were VERY generous with doling out candy. My 2 year old niece at one point screamed out «THERE IS TOO MUCH CANDY!» I also made it a point to ask the cast members to give our group the «healthy stuff» towards the end of our trick-​or-​treating (fyi, the healthy stuff = raisins, craisins (dried cranberries), carrots, apples).
We stood in a 40 minute line at the Princess Fantasy Faire for pictures and there were numerous times where I impatiently asked my boyfriend and my nieces «are you sure you want to wait in this line?» and I’m so happy that we waited. The line was moving so slowly because individual groups were allowed one-​on-​one time with the princesses. Princesses Belle, Ariel and Sleeping Beauty greeted my nieces, conversed with them, asked them about their costumes, wished them a Happy Halloween, gave them hugs and even asked my boyfriend and me if we wanted a picture with them. The highlight of my night was watching my nieces jump, scream and spazz out in glee when meeting their idols. My niece told me, «the princess has make up just like my grandma.»
There were also areas set up for dancing (New Orleans Square) and my nieces boogied down to the Hokey Pokey, the chicken dance, Hanson and Nsync. (Uh, hello 1996 and 1999, nice seeing you again).
Best part of my night was the special Mickey’s Trick-​or-​Treat fireworks. Jack Skellington narrates the fireworks display and his dog Zero floats over the castle. I’m a sucker for meticulous detail and Disney definitely hit everything they needed to tug on my heartstrings — must be like how Jack felt when he discovered Christmas. I’m in love with this event and I’m definitely going to be taking my nieces back next year.

Wow! That was pretty freakin fun!
That was my first time at this Disney party and yes, it’s probably another successful attempt by Disney to wipe you out clean and get you to open your wallets once again, but it was a blast.
Prices range from $ 29-​$ 42, the cheapest being Annual passholder, Advanced purchase prices and the most expensive being day of event purchase price. For $ 29, it’s well worth it. You don’t need a ticket to the park in addition to this price. The ticket price includes admission to California Adventure for the party and parking for 1 vehicle. If you know anyone who has an annual pass, they can buy up to 8 tickets for this event, so hit them up to get one for you at a better price.
Kids and adults alike dress up. If anything, it may be worth it just to go and people watch. There were some pretty creative costumes, and a ton of Disney themed ones too.
Upon entering they give you a bag to fill with tons of candy. They have a bunch of trick or treat stations throughout the park and some healthy snacks for the crazies as well. All the regular attractions and rides are open, and the whole place is decked out for halloween. There are multiple stages with music and dancing for all the kids to work off the sugar high. What’s really cool are all the Disney villains are out and about. On any other day at Disneyland, you can see the usual characters, but here, we saw all the bad guys too. Pretty cool.
The party lasts 4 hours and is open only to those who purchased a ticket, so it wasn’t jam packed when we went. Not sure how crowded it gets on the weekends, but for $ 29 on a Thursday night, it was one of the best times we’ve had at Disneyland.
