Grizzly River Run

There are raft rides like this at amusement parks all over the country, and this one is the best I have ever been on. The excitement of the ride is great, and there is no doubt that you WILL get wet! It is just a lot of fun. If you don’t like water, then bring a poncho, but don’t miss this ride!

Wet.
Wet like Pavlov’s dogs mouth when the bell starts to ring, wet.
Wet like getting caught in a thunderstorm with a piece of toilet paper as an umbrella, wet.
Wet like participating in the ice bucket challenge, wet.
If you want to get wet, and have a great time doing it, look no further! But be warned… You might get a little wet. Just a little wet, down to your undies. Ride this at the end of the day or you’ll be miserable.
Way better than Knott’s.

Came here with two friends of ours. Fun to have another couple with us on the raft that we know. We all got pretty wet, not too drenched or anything. Not a lot of leg room but enough. Had fun!

This ride is located in the California Adventure park and it is in the middle of the park so it’s not hard to find. This ride is the absolute best when it is a super hot day out. You will get soaked on this ride with the natural splashes of the water and people squirting you from the sidelines, so make sure to give your valuables and things you don’t want to get with someone who isn’t riding. There is hardly a line on this ride which is great and it moves all the time. I suggest you ride this ride first thing so you can dry off or when you are ready to leave for the day, because walking around in wet clothes is never fun (or you can even bring a change of clothes!)

A complete blast and a laugh riot for your whole group the whole time! Every spin, every drop, every turn your just waiting to see who’s going to get hit the worst with water. Personally I really didn’t get that wet nor did anybody in our raft.
That being said some people I saw were soaked. My daughter seems to think sitting by either of the openings is where you are most likely to get soaked!
So my final suggestions are ride this great ride on a warm/​hot day, lift your feet if you don’t want your shoes wet when the waters coming over and you can even get a poncho to wear if you really don’t want to get wet.

Great wacky ride that is somewhat similar to Splash mountain (maybe not as intense)…as in you are going to get wet.
Fun

This is a standard river run ride, where your raft moves through various obstacles and some people get soaked. It’s possible to be soaked, but some seats might be completely dry. It’s a great ride for a hot day, but I’ve been on better implementations. There’s also very little «Dusney magic» on this ride. It just feels like a standard river ride.
That said, this is a great ride to cool off inside the park, and you are somewhat more likely to get wet as Splash Mountain. There is no reason to ride if you want to avoid getting wet.
The ride has fastpasses, and in my experience they go slowly at the beginning of the day. Then everyone wants to cool off around noon and grabs a Fastpass at the same time. Keep an eye on Fastpass times.

Hah! First time on this ride. Went at night and the only other people there was a young couple. So we shared the ride with these veterans and they told us they had picked the best seats for not getting wet. Well, I hope they don’t buy lottery tickets! They both got soaked and we didn’t, well, not nearly as much.
Super fun ride, spinning, rushing, dipping, whooshing, climbing up and up and up…

Caution You May get wet. Seems like so riders experience this more than others. Take a wild and some times wet ride through the Wilderness. This ride is is a fun ride and a good way to cool off mid day. Have fun and enjoy and try not to get soaked.

This is a fun ride with a long line. If you get a fastpass the line is a lot shorter, so I would suggest it. There are waterfalls and a rustic theme. Its fun to socialize with the strangers you are with, since you are sitting facing each other. At the end, where the big waterfall is, it can be scary since you don’t know if you will be facing backwards or forwards or sideways (I went backwards and it was terrifying). Overall it is really a fun ride.

This was a fine ride. Like almost any tube water rides, you’re going to get wet. More wet than I had hoped.
While I enjoyed the ride overall, I didn’t expect to get so dizzy. The wheel spins like a man possessed and especially more if the weight distribution is off. Ours was a bit off, so we got wet while also getting dizzy. So much fun!
There was practically not wait, but then again it’s in the middle of winter. I liked it overall, just wish the tube didn’t spin in circles as much as it did.

This is the grown-​up version of Splash Mountain from Disneyland, though the waterfalls in Grizzly River Run are not nearly as large as the one at Splash Mountain.
No music, no cutesy animals singing and jabbering, nothing. Just rustic mountainous scenery, the roar of the waters, and screams from people turning and tumbling down waterfalls and getting soaked.

As if a summer day at Disneyland was not chafing enough, Grizzly Run practically guarantees that you’ll be walking funny by dinner time, wishing you had remembered to pack that travel-​size Gold Bond medicated powder. After a substantial wait in line, regarding all the assembled masses, many of whom finished their double-​fisted Karl Strauss Endless Summer Ales several line turns ago, you step onto a large rotating daïs, from which you enter the multi-​seat river raft. It is at this moment that you remember your new iPhone in your pocket, and your brand new shoes on your feet, resting quietly in a foreboding pool of water at the bottom of the boat. If you happen to be a tall person, your knees strain against the stainless steel Holy S— handle in the middle of the boat. Once your boat is released from the relative safety of the staging area, you look around the boat at your fellow rafters, silently staring at one another… Wondering which one of you will get mildly splashed, and which unlucky soul will endure the misery of a complete and utter crotch soaking, as 15 gallons of funny smelling water get ice-​bucket-​challenged into your lap. Eager mirth will be yours as your shoes, now rendered as worthless as saturated hand towels wrapped around your feet, your electronic devices, and your wallet and key fob get horrifically soaked. At least you can still read the 800 number on your AAA card to call for a replacement key to get home. So that’s why that attractive family was wearing rain slickers on a sunny SoCal day…
But I suppose it’s not all bad. At least the hydrochloric acid content of the river water will keep your athlete’s foot at bay.
Happiest place on earth, indeed. Bring extra socks, a pair of flip flops, and a plastic bag. Oh, and don’t forget the gold bond… It’s like a thousand tiny elves drying your will to go on to Soarin’.

We love this ride. We got to the park early and there was only a 10min wait to ride, so my husband and I rode it twice.
We both got pretty soaked from the ride but enjoyed it.
Avoid this ride if u don’t want to get wet

Sppppiiinnnninngg, wet! This ride is a ton of fun to go on especially if the whole tire is filled up with you and your friends and family. It’s even better on a hot day! Because you are guaranteed to get wet, even if it’s a little. But if you get it the most you can stay wet all day and if it’s cold you will regret it.
Wait times always vary, but they do have fast passes at this ride.
I love that this ride has a couple drops so it makes you really scream awaiting the anticipation of who’s going to get soaked! It’s normally my mom, but this last time was me! And I was soaked all day from stomach down. Not sure if weight makes a difference or if it does to do everyone, but ours would not stop spinning. I felt like I was on the tea cups! That was the only downfall since I felt dizzy at end.
Ride is super fun though!

The fact that you are warned that you will get soaked makes this ride worth trying even more!!!
Grizzly River Run is located right inside Disney California Adventure. Yes, you can use a fast pass for this ride. It is highly recommended, as this ride is one that has a long wait time! Once you arrive for your turn, you are placed inside a giant wheel shaped little «boat» that sits 8 people. It has that white water rafting feel. The current a can be a bit choppy with 2 drops… the last one is the bigger drop. Your ride will go in circles due to the currents! This is the part where you will get wet. My suggestion is if you have any belongings, they’re pretty much not safe unless you bag them! The ride lasts around 8 – 10 minutes.
This ride is one that I must go on when I frequent this park! After a hot day especially especial waiting in line, the soaked feeling you get afterwards is sure to cool you down!!! Hold on tight and enjoy the ride!!!

This ride is unpredictable. Sometimes you’ll get soaked and other times, you’ll walk away entirely dry. If wet underwear makes you uncomfortable, I wouldn’t risk it. I imagine that it’s what a heavy diaper would feel like. I endured that sensation for hours. Ew. Not to mention the discomfort of wet socks. Ugh.
If you’re looking to cool off on a hot day, take yourself over to a mist-​jet (like the one by Soarin Over) or even Princess Dot’s Puddle Park. Or maybe pop into the Animation Academy for some seating and air conditioning. All of that seems better.
If you’re still considering, at least take advantage of the lockers by the FastPass distribution. Doesn’t seem like many people plan ahead…
Also, there’s an underutilized FastPass line. Not sure why more people don’t use it. If the wait is 60 minutes and the return time for the FP is an hour later, why stand in line? I’m serious.

Pro Tip: USE THE SINGLE RIDER.

every amusement park i have been to has something similar to the grizzly river ride… and i’m glad… because this is one of my favorite water rides!
Grizzly River Run has more secure seats! Nice long ride… good rapids… and an awesome curving drop at the end! enjoy!

Hard to believe I haven’t reviewed this water ride in all of our visits to Anaheim!
We enjoy this ride– as long as it is on a warmish day and not in the evening.
You will get wet. It really doesn’t matter if you think you might be safe in the «middle» since these round tubes turn around and depending on the pressure/​weight of the other people in the 8 person tube you are in can go very fast.
The first memory I have of this ride was around 9 years ago when my daughter was 9. She got soaked, it was evening, she was cold and we had a major meltdown where I had to buy her new pants. Over the years, she goes with the flow, does the single rider line (if we don’t want to go again after either a wait or a fast pass) and we all have a good time.
It helps when you are in a tube with friendly folks which sometimes can be hard to find even in the «Happiest Place on Earth».

Want to soak your friends? Or complete strangers?
There are two ways.
One is through this ride, and the other is through the water geysers that you have to pay for.
I’m all about the ride.
The trick is for you and your buddies to grab the center bar and use your combined strength to navigate the river.
That way you can TURN the raft when you see trouble coming to soak the other people.
We’ve come out mostly dry, and laughing like idiots.
But, don’t worry. I’ve been on this ride where my friends have soaked me with the geysers so I can take what I dish out.
I’m prepared for my water karma.
