Monte Cristo and Pomme Frites. Two things you need to try if you’re at Disneyland. The Monste Cristo is deep fried so it can get heavy. I would recommend sharing with someone! I also really like the Pomme Frites which is like garlic parmesan fries. The Monte Cristo is one of the more unique things that Disneyland has in terms of food. They also have beignets here. I got a free one for my birthday a few years ago. Thinking about this place makes me want to go back to Disneyland.

So I really really wanted to like this food but it was such a big disappointment. The Monte Carlo was all the raves in the reviews so I had to try it and it was a blob of just grease. I had the three cheese one and my husband had the ham. It was served on a plate with a bit of sauce and grapes that looked half eaten. The only good thing at our table were the fries and my kids max and cheese. That’s the only reason it gets two stars.
Also the service was sub par, from the moment the older gentlemen screamed for our party and blamed us because he couldn’t find us even though we were ten minutes early to the table service.
Not worth having to make a reservation for. Let’s see if the Blue Bayou is any better. I have lost all hope in finding a nice sit down restaurant here.

Here is a tip — make an appointment, especially if you are coming on the weekend!
Luckily I did make an appointment because when we arrived there was already a long line of people waiting to get in. We sat on the patio right by the fence which made for nice people watching. I was cold outside and I was surprised that they do not have outdoor heaters. The service was good but not what I would expect from Disney. Nothing to complain about but it was just not the level of great you expect. The food however was really good. All the portions were huge and the food delicious. I had the Monte Cristo and loved it. If you don’t eat a lot or are not super hungry I would recommend sharing. My friends and I also shared an order of the Beignets and that was also plenty for 4 people.

Best tip I can give: make a reservation! And by make a reservation, I mean a few days in advance at least.
We were lucky enough to get a reservation the day ahead because one of my friends had never been to Disneyland and they made an exception. We made it for 11:30am, which is when they open. Had some confusion when we first got there cause one of the girls at the front told us because we had a reservation we only had to come up to the desk a few mins before. So 11:25am comes around and there’s a long line of non-​reservation makers, about 20 – 30 people. We expect to be told we’d be seated soon but a man told us we had to wait in line… After some explaining and getting slightly upset, he tried saying that the girl we spoke to was new, and that what should have been done was they give you a beeper and then to come up when it goes off. We finally got sat (without waiting in line) and lucky enough because we were one of the first groups to be sat, we chose to sit near the railing on the patio. It was a nice day and it’s fun sitting out there, even with a ton of people admiring your food.
So, finally the food. We got the pomme frites to share and they are amazing, the remoulade sauce they come with is really good also. They are cheesy and garlicky. A few of us got cups of gumbo and it’s amazing as well, it comes with a rice in the center. Cup is pretty small, good starter type of thing. I got the cheese monte cristo and it was really good, kind of a mix between a grilled cheese and french toast but not as sweet, which is what I was worried about before ordering. The brie added such a good flavor and the jam they give you with it is a good pairing. It comes with a few strawberries and grapes. A friend of mine got the regular monte cristo with meat and it was really good as well, seemed less greasy than the cheese one, I’m assuming the cheese puts off extra oil. The crepes are good, a friend tried the savory beef one, kind of a small portion though. And lastly another friend got the fried green tomato sandwhich and that was pretty good too.

**pro tip** If you know you’re going to Disneyland, make a reservation, the wait can get pretty lengthy.
First time at Café Orleans and was not disappointed. Got the Monte Cristo and the Pommes Frites (just like everyone else). Personally, my favorite was the dipping sauce for the pommes frites! That little tub of orange-​y goodness is delicious, wanted more fries just so I could eat the sauce! The fries were also delicious with the herbs and cheese all over it. My boyfriend on the other hand loved the Monte Cristo. I thought the Monte Cristo was too doughy, but it was still good! It comes with this amazing marmalade, but I caught myself dipping it in that cajun sauce from the fries! It’s Disneyland so it’s going to be expensive, but definitely worth a try if you haven’t had it before.

Can I have a hot chocolate with a side of a heart attack, please?
We made reservations the night before, which I guess is a must. By the time we checked in, there was a HUGE wait line. Even after making reservations, we waited about 30 minutes before being seated. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive.
I ordered hot chocolate– which was delicious. It also came with free refills, which was nice because it was about 60 °F.
I will not be coming back for the food. I ordered the Monte Cristo Sandwich based on the Unilocal reviews. Portion-​wise, it’s huge. I could’ve probably shared one order with my husband. However, we still wouldn’t have finished it because I took two bites and I could not eat anymore. It was a fried ham/​cheese sandwich with a side of berry purée. I guess it was a bit TOO fried for me. It felt like I was eating a ham/​cheese sandwich on a deeply fried doughnut that was fried again. The berry purée helped it a little, but I couldn’t have more than 2 bites. It comes with a side of grapes/​strawberries.
From the limited menu, my table ordered:
— Gumbo: pretty good
— pomme frites: I thought these were fried well. I liked the cajun sauce on the side but they also provide ranch and ketchup if you don’t like that.
— french onion soup: lacked a bit of flavor, but wasn’t horrible.
— La Salade de Maison– it could’ve tasted OK, but there was just too much dressing.
— Chicken muffuletta sandwich: Was a bit salty, but OK.
— Fried Green Tomato sandwich: the vegetarian of our group ordered this and she said it was pretty tasty.
— Braised beef crêpe: was OK.
Basically, I didn’t leave hungry because I filled up on hot chocolate, gumbo and fries, but I probably would not come back here. Just a bit too heavy for my taste.

On a busy day a reservation is recommend for this place. Was able to get in on a reservation for later in the day I went.
I ordered the Gumbo and a Monte Cristo sandwich. The gumbo was very good for gumbo not made with seafood, but chicken. The monte cristo was also made quite well. It was served with a raspberry sauce. This made the sandwich oh that much better. This service here was really good once you got pass getting seated. I would recommend this place if you can’t seem to get into Blue Bayou.

Café Orleans is one of my go-​to, must have food spots every time I come to Disneyland. Reservations are very highly recommended/​encouraged, otherwise you’re usually waiting a minimum of at least 30 – 45 minutes or longer, especially during peak season which is pretty much all year long these days.
I have eaten the following:
— Pommes Frites: garlic and parmesan fries, the BOMB! with a tasty remoulade dipping sauce.
— New Orleans Gumbo: so delicious and highly addicting. I crave it all the time. Perfect blend of flavor. Don’t be fooled by the nearby quick service eatery Royal Street Veranda gumbo served in a bread bowl, which is more of a tomato base stew type soup. THIS gumbo is the one to have! Don’t say I didn’t warn ya! You can also get it at Blue Bayou.
— Crescent City salad: delicious, on the lighter side entrée salad. Dressing is a vinaigrette and it has caramelized onions and pecans, orange segments, red grapes, roasted sweet corn and your choice of blackened chicken or salmon. I go for the salmon.
— The Infamous Monte Cristo Sandwich: definitely either a «love it or hate it» item. It is a cult classic at this point and has legions of lovers and haters lol. I love it but can only have it once in a while and I have to be in the right mood for it and must split it with someone as its humongous! Egg-​battered bread deep fried with swiss cheese, ham and turkey and dusted with powdered sugar. A three cheese version with swiss, mozzarella and brie is also avail for vegetarians. Comes with berry purée sauce for dipping.
— Mickey Beignets: totally self explanatory and a must. Topped with powdered sugar and they bring a vanilla crème and a fruity sauce for dipping. So yummy! Make sure you order them after your meal so they don’t bring them out WITH the meal and they won’t be warm by the time you get to them. Although I really don’t know what clown would do that. (cough *me* cough cough)
I love this place, have always had good service, and I’d really like to try other options on their menu such as the ragout, crepes, french onion soup and fried green tomato sandwich! But, I keep caving and ordering the same things I love. Welp, just more excuses to go back! I

This is one of my favorite eateries at Disneyland Park. Not only do they serve delicious gumbo, but they have Mickey beignets so that trumps just about anything you can find to eat at Disneyland.
On top of great food, there is plenty of great views from the patio of not only passers by but if he boats and canoes as they pass by on the Rivers of America.
Reservations are key and if it’s cold make sure you reserve indoor seating as they book up quickly.

My personal pick for best place to eat at Disneyland. I reserved 60 days in advance online for 12noon on a mid-​December Tuesday. Got seated within 5 minutes. Waiter («Tony») came quickly, took our order which was delivered about 5 minutes later and kept coming by checking on us for refills, etc. We sat outside for lunch with a great view of the river boats moving by and the people moving in the New Orleans Square area.
My advice: (1) Split a Monte Cristo sandwich, easily enough for three people. It is made with sliced turkey, ham, and swiss fried in a light batter and served with Berry Purée dusted with powdered sugar. We even took half back the room for a late snack. (2) Split an order of Pommes Frites, $ 6.99, a traditional french fried Potatoes tossed with parmesan, garlic, and parsley served with cajun spice rémoulade.

Café Orleans is a place that all Disneyland attendees should visit at least once. Located smack dab in New Orleans square, this restaurant boasts great views for enjoying a nice lunch while doing a little people-​watching. First and foremost, make a reservation! My boyfriend and I made our reservations at 11:30AM, which is right when it opened and there was already a formidable line forming at the hostess table.
We split the Monte Cristo, Pomme Frites and beignets. While this spread sounds a little sparse for a two-​person lunch, believe me, the Monte Cristo is GIGANTIC. Not exaggerating, this sandwich can probably feed 2 – 3 people if sharing other dishes as well. A deep fried ham and cheese sandwich, the Monte Cristo was crispy on the outside, just like how fried bread should be. Spread some of that berry jam onto your sandwich for a delightful sweet and savory flavor combination and dig in! And you can’t go wrong with the fries, sprinkled generously with bits of garlic and parsley. Pomme Frites are a must-​have here!
While super adorable, the Mickey Mouse Beignets weren’t as mind-​blowingly delicious as they looked. I’m not sure our beignets were undercooked, but some of them were on the bland side and didn’t have that light and airy crunchiness that other beignets had. At least the vanilla crème anglaise and raspberry coulis that came on the side assisted in making them taste significantly better.

MONTE CRISTO SANDWICH, you will be the death of me. Trust everyone when they say to share it! I mean, let’s be real, I could probably finish one on my own but it wouldn’t be the smartest decision. I’d end up with a food coma instead of ending up on rides…
As always, my pro tip is to make a reservation before deciding to eat at any table service restaurant at Disney. It’s just so much easier and it forces you to plan your day with a little bit of structure.
I recommend trying the monte cristo and pommes frites. It’s definitely enough for 2 to share. If you’re feeling especially hungry, add a cup or bowl of gumbo to your order and you’ll be good to go. The monte cristo is crisped perfectly and the perfect mix of sweet & savory. This happens to be my favorite combination so I was in love with it. My boyfriend wasn’t too keen on it, and it can be a little much for some people. It is essentially a ham and cheese sandwich that’s deep fried and topped with sugar. It comes with jam to dip. Drool. The pomme frites are equally amazing and the cajun remoulade served with it is to die for!
Despite the monte cristo being so awesome, it’s pretty heavy and a once in a blue moon type of thing for me. If you’ve never had one and it seems up your alley I definitely recommend it. The pomme frites may appeal to more people, so that would be my top «can’t miss» item at Café Orleans.

I really really wanted to give every establishment inside Disneyland 5 stars. But here I am… crying uncontrollably and rather inconsolably as I write this review. It honestly feels like a bad breakup. Please offer me your condolences.
Well, let’s down to the nitty gritty of it all.
I feel like all of Disney, for the most part, will have excellent service. Excellent service was exactly what I got at Café Orleans. Everyone seems so happy. They all strike up wonderful conversations and choose words that builds an individual up as opposed to breaking one down. There’s nothing extraordinary about the ambiance. It is quite spacious though. Plenty of room for both indoor and outdoor seating. Anyways, enough about that. I hungered something fierce and it was for the food that I ventured here. Fighting through the harsh environment of Disneyland and making my way through the vicious crowds, I finally found refuge inside the café and ordered myself the gumbo, the highly crazed monte Cristo, and finished it off with a free Micky shaped beignet.
The gumbo waaaassss salty. The flavor profile kind of reminded me of Korean style curry though. It wasn’t bad, but it just didn’t pump me with that Disney magic that I so desperately craved.
I’ve had the pommes frites before during my previous visit. I don’t exactly remember it too well… but I enjoyed it. Enjoyed it more than the gumbo at least.
The monte cristo. This was my second time trying this massive entrée out. Yes, it’s huuuuge! I can’t imagine someone eating the whole plate all by themselves… nor would I recommend it! It may prove to be too great of a feat. Not to mention the huge serving of carbs, lipids, and sugars someone should not be ingesting within one sitting. I enjoyed this one. Not quite as magical as I would have liked, but good. The crunchy deep fried outer casing paired with the ham and cheese, and the powdered sugar and jam brings together a harmonious melody. A melody that can only be experienced in the mouth. I was always a fan of mixing sweet with savory. I, for one, am so thankful for the fruits that accompany the monte cristos. It really balances the whole dish. I just wish it had another something to elevate it to something spectacular spectacular.
The Micky shaped beignets!!! To be completely honest, I’m not the biggest of fans when it comes to the beignets served inside Disneyland. I much prefer the ones served by Jazz Kitchen located in downtown Disney. The Micky shape is a wonderful wonderful touch though. It always pumps me up!!! Nothing makes me feel manlier than those adorable fried Mickey shaped doughs sprinkled with powdered sugar. What made the experience all the more special was that it was free!!! They brought it out with a candle to wish me the happiest of birthdays. It brought tears to my eyes… manly tears that is.
5 stars for making an ordinary dining experience feel incredibly special!!! They did Walt proud!

This has got to be one of my favorite places to eat at Disneyland. Honestly I would give it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the fact that you have to book a reservation on most days to be able to eat there. I repeat MAKE A RESERVATION. I recommend at least the day before just to be safe.
Best things to get here are the Pommes Frites and Monte Cristo Sandwich — hands down. Pommes frites are thinly sliced french fries with parmesan cheese and garlic flavor. The fries are so crispy — it’s a great appetizer to start your meal. I would recommend starting with that as entrees take awhile to come out.
For entrees, I really only get the Monte Cristo Sandwich. This is essentially a turkey, ham, and swiss sandwich served with berry purée and topped with powdered sugar. This is to die-​for. It’s the perfect sweet and savory meal.
In our most recent visit, we had the seasonal menu and tried their flat iron steak and pumpkin beignets. The flat iron steak was uh-​mazing. They should have that as a regular on the menu. The pumpkin beignet was a bit dry. Thank goodness it had a vanilla crème anglaise to dip it in.

We had a wonderful dinner at Café Orleans inside Disneyland. This was my first time visiting the Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Halloween Party. We were ushered into the park at 4pm and guaranteed our stay until midnight when the park closes. My daughter made reservations at Café Orleans for 5pm and we were seated shortly after our reservation time.
I decided to order the large bowl of Gumbo being it was a Cajun/​Creole restaurant. It was served piping hot, just like I like my soup, and was very hearty with plenty of rice, shrimp, etc. I did not order an entrée because I wanted to order the dessert, Beignets!
The beignets were also very good. I shared with others and after eating 3 of the 6, I was satisfied.
The service was very good and everyone enjoyed their dinners.

As the eldest of six boys to parents with huge hearts, great patience, and modest incomes, one of our great treats as kids was visiting Disneyland. The capstone event of this… As far as eating was concerned… Was visiting the Blue Bayou restaurant in the New Orleans Square proper. Perhaps no other food in the park better embodies unabashed gluttony than the notion of 6 fat 80s kids hammering down greasy, drippy, gooey Monte Cristo sandwiches with fake fireflies and an animatronic banjo player providing ambiance.
Recently, we learned that there is about a 17 year waiting list for reservations at Blue Bayou. How to get my caloric fix in the park, you ask? Enter New Orleans café!
In addition to those delightful batter dipped, deep fried, powdered-​sugar-​dusted ham and turkey cheese sandwiches, they have a number of other pretty good menu items. The French onion soup isn’t bad, and I enjoyed the salmon sandwich last time I visited.
The Disney synergy translates into their attentive service, in an atmosphere that won’t make you wish you wore a collar. It is, however, always amazing to me how Disneyland manages to pull off the strange adult restaurant ambience while maintaining the air of the place being kid oriented. How many places do you know with cloth napkins that encourage you bringing your screaming children?
Prices end up being between 20 and 30 bucks per nose, and you can knock off a couple of bucks for the little ones by ordering from the kids menu.
If you get the right table in the evening, or sit outside on the small patio, you can even watch the evening fireworks while enjoying your meal. Sure, your credit card company will probably call you in the morning… But as my dad says in Vegas, «we’re not here for a haircut.»

One of my favorite sit down restaurants at Disney– especially for a nice lunch on the patio. The prices are a bit high, but you are able to enjoy their delicious Monte Cristo sandwiches, which are worth it.
I personally prefer the original Monte Cristo sandwich (with ham) over the 3 cheese one (more bland). Dipped in their berry jam, the sandwiches are divine. I would recommend splitting the dish with someone, since the breading is thick and oily and will wear down on the carb-​conscious or health-​minded person.
I usually get their French onion soup, which is honestly just okay. I just keep ordering it because I find it hard to get my French onion soup cravings met, since not a lot of places serve it. I am not the biggest fan of their fries other, but many people enjoy it.
Lastly, the beignets are a great treat to save room for. During this last visit, we had their limited Holiday season of Pumpkin Mickey beignets! I prefer these quite a bit more over the traditional ones. We even asked to take out a set to bring back as gifts.
Make sure to have reservations if you want to come! Every time I come, they are always turning away people who were excited to try this place out. Usually a day or so before is okay to still get reservations, but plan ahead if you can!

Coming here initially I wanted to give this place a much higher rating, because I absolutely love the food they have to offer. However, the service was extremely disappointing.
First of all I made a reservation about a week prior, and I showed up about 10 minutes before to confirm. The lady at the front told us that we should be seated closer to our time. We ended up waiting there for at least 20 minutes or so, for our reservation. Which kind of pissed me off, but I knew the park was pretty packed so I kind of just let it slide.
We finally sit down and yet again we wait for about 10 more minutes, until finally the waitress showed up.
We ordered a Monte Cristo to split, and we each had a French onion soup. The soup came out in a timely manner and was executed perfectly. There was a pretty big gap in time between us finishing our soups in until the Monte Cristo came out. We were waiting there for a very long time in between meals. So at this point I was getting frustrated. The waitress was nowhere to be seen, so we said to our selves we better order the pumpkin beignets for dessert next time we see her. Finally we see the waitress and we tell her we want the pumpkin beignets.
Finally, we get our Monte Cristo and it was delicious! We finished it pretty quickly because we were waiting there for so long and had rides and fast passes we needed to go on. And yet, once again we ended up waiting.
Our waitress came out to us, and asked us if we were still waiting for our French soup. I got really pissed and said «Actually we have been here for a long time, we have already eaten all of our food, we ordered those pumpkin beignets from you a long time ago. She had no idea what was going on. She came back a few minutes later with regular beignets. She literally said when she came up to us «You ordered the regular beignets, right? Or did you want pumpkin»
I told her «Listen, I placed and order with you 2 times for pumpkin beignets, this is ridiculous»
She then went on saying how they had someone else’s pumpkin beignets wrapped up in a box and that she can go get them. I just told her listen I just want to get my bill and leave at this point this is the worst service I have had in a long time.
There was no way I was going to leave a tip for this girl. She never even once asked me how my food was, and completely forgot about or table.
Although I thought the food was great, the service was absolutely terrible.

Fun Fact: The espresso machine that Walt Disney used when the restaurant originally opened is still used up to today!
I love this restaurant for lunch, especially with their shaded outdoor seating. At Café Orleans they offer the Monte Cristo sandwich all day, unlike the Blue Bayou. The Monte Cristo Sandwich is a fried sandwich with a turkey, ham, and Swiss cheese filling dusted off with powdered sugar and it’s served with a berry purée to dip the sandwich in. The also offer the three cheese Monte Cristo sandwich with swiss, mozzarella, and double cream Brie.
Their Pommes Frites are awesome! The fries are topped with Parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley, and are served with a Cajun spice remoulade. So good!
They have a café based menu with a Cajun twist to everything. They offer Gumbo, French onion soup, Pommes Frites, and a salad as starters.
They have about six entrees to choose from and 2 dinner crepes to choose from. Their desserts aren’t the best, but they do offer the Mickey shaped beignets, banana foster crepes, and a coconut cake. Quite honesty, the Mickey beignets are horrible here. The beignets at the Jazz Kitchen Express are by far the best within the resort!
Service is always great! I booked a late reservation at 7:45pm and they still gave awesome service even though they closed at 8pm. Whether there’s only 2 within the party or 15, it’s always great service.
Just to let people know, booking a late reservation at Café Orleans doesn’t mean you’ll be able to see Fantasmic from the location. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO. The view is so obstructed from the restaurant, I don’t understand why anyone would want an obstructed view. Majority of seating is outdoors, so plan accordingly. If you prefer a special table, check in about 15mins beforehand to put the request in.

My new go-​to, sit down restaurant in Disneyland.
Even after all the years of having an AP, I haven’t thought of coming in here for a bite. I always wanted something on the go so a sit down restaurant wasn’t on the «to-​do» list.
I’ve only been here twice now but I really do love it.
The first time I ate here, it was on their patio. Me and my friend got a bowl of their gumbo and their pommes frites. The gumbo was pretty good but the POMMES FRITES. WOW. AMAZING. Every time a server walked by, they had a tray full of fries. I think every table had at least one order. These fries really are a treat.
Pommes Frites: fries with Parmesan cheese, garlic, and parsley. The Parmesan is melted on, not sprinkled on top where it just comes off when you pick up a fry. It also comes with a cajun dipping sauce; they go well together.
Gumbo: you have a choice of a cup or bowl. It wasn’t the best I had but was pretty good. Just the right amount of flavor. I just didn’t like the green onions that were on top; it was so dry.
The second time I went, we got the Monte Cristo and, again, the pommes frites. I took a first-​timer and she LOVED IT. We split both but were only able to finish half of the Monte Cristo.
Monte Cristo: turkey, ham, and Swiss fried in a «light» batter and served with berry purée, dusted with powdered sugar. Comes with strawberries and grapes. It was the ultimate heart attack. There were four slices and we only ate one each. I liked it but this is a one-​piece-​per-​person dish. It was really good. haha
The service is fast, the people are nice, and the food is great. Give it a try, you will love it.
During dinner time, there will be a wait so try to make reservations. I went on a Tuesday and the line was forming pretty quick around 6:30pm.
