Founded by Chris and Diane Moore in 1997, A to Z Driving School is a family-​oriented company focused on meeting the specific needs of its clients. Understanding that every driver is different, A to Z instructors provide customized guidance allowing each student to overcome challenges and achieve his or her individual driving goals. Business Owner

Diane Moore is the founder and operator of the company. She started working as a driving instructor in 1995. She worked hard to establish a good and professional reputation as a business woman and a driving instructor. She became the operator of A to Z Driving School in May of 1997 when the school opened. She is friendly, professional, and loves to teach and works great with nervous students that are new drivers. Diane also continues her education, attends different seminars to enhance and develop better techniques and ways of teaching safe and defensive driving to her instructors so they can teach our customers. She passed all DMV test for instructors and operator licenses, and the background check. She is licensed to teach Drivers Ed, Behind the Wheel and to train and license professional driving instructors also conducts yearly continuing education for her instructors and other instructors that are interested in enhancing their driving techniques. Fluent in English and Romanian

Just called Chris to make an appointment for my son. This is the third time I will be using them. I love this place, they are always very nice, and making an appointment is never a problem. BTW my first two passed their driving test on the their first try.

This school is pretty great. Back when I needed to get my license this school was ny saving grace. The instructor worked with me and was very cool. He made me laugh and relax whenever I felt tense and scared. He even made me feel better after I failed my test the first time and continued to work with me.

This schools whatever… it’s easy to get an appointment and the price is decent, but my experience was weird. My instructor had me stop at her house and left me in the car for 10 minutes, told me a personal story about an inappropriate student she had, gave me a lot of wrong info which lead me to a ticket that I’m paying off a year later.

My son just completed the class part and getting ready to take the written test, so this review is only on the class. I had no problem signing up my son for this class, they even call you the night before to remind you. I had to cancel the day before because I was still waiting for his dad to help pay for class. (they didn’t mind, just said call when your ready) I then again had no problem signing up. My son really liked the class and said Chris brought in donuts for them, and they even had pizza the last day of class which my son wasn’t able to make the class because he got really sick the night before. I was worried and called after hours and left a message and Chris called me back within 5 mins. Chris was so nice he said he could make it up the following day or meet one on one with him the following week when he feels better. I thought that was great customer service. Not only do they give direction in class but sample DMV quiz, he also received the DMV handbook to read and when he finished the class he got his completion paper, the application from the dmv, and a list of everything you need to bring and the phone number to make an appointment.
My older son also went through the class and behind the wheel with this company and he liked it as well, so we came back to them. I did do some research before my older son went here and I found them to have great prices and service.

Thank the Lord Jesus my sister-​in-​law finally received her DL. Oh, and a big shout out to A to Z! This driving school was reasonably priced and accommodated my sis-in-law’s schedule. She said the driving teacher was awesome and the «behind the wheel training» driver was patient and very helpful. No more driving her around! Whoo hoo!

I almost never leave a negative review but I feel that it’s so unfair for people to waste their money on this place.
I took my friend there after I saw some good reviews, and due to their availability and relatively decent price. We encountered 2 guys there and both were extremely rude!
The african american guy at the desk:
My friend and I ask (because of course we’ve never been to a driving school): So there is insurance on the car?
Guy: Yes.
Us: And in case anything happens, we’re not liable for anything, right?
Guy: (gives us this belittling look… stares at us for a few seconds…) Correct.
And we ask one more question to make sure that my friend will be ok (because we’re not familiar with the system in the US), and he gets mad! At this point, we really felt that we don’t want to do business with those people but we already paid and we thought we’ll just go outside and get some driving training…
Bob! The driving trainer. He’s an old white guy from the midwest and it seems that he was extremely racist against colored people… He was rude, he even argued with us! And got to the point of saying «I’ve been doing this work for years! Stop bothering me!» when I translated a word he said that my friend didn’t understand!
We’ve been to many businesses in California, and it is well known that customer relations is the best in the US compared to anywhere in the world. But this place is absolute rubbish! We continued our training with another place on Brookhurst and it was cheaper and the people were so SO friendly! They even came with us to the DMV and we used their car! And that extra hour was for free! That place is called Crescent Driving School.

I’m 22 years old and had almost no driving experience, just a few minutes in a parking lot a couple of times… I needed to get my license asap, so after reading Unilocal reviews (and finding out that A to Z was only 5 mins from my house) I gave them a call to schedule some driving lessons. First of all, the lady who took my call was VERY nice and helpful. I was able to schedule 3 lessons in 3 consecutive days, just a couple days later. I have to admit, I was TERRIFIED to drive… ESPECIALLY to drive with a stranger in the car! But my instructor Jeff immediately put me at ease. He’s a very kind, patient guy. I had two lessons with Jeff and my third was with Frank. Frank is very knowledgeable about the DMV, which is extremely helpful. He also got me over my fear of the freeway. I did my driving lessons, practiced for about 20 mins every night, and after two weeks I took my DMV driving test. I passed on my first try AND I only got 3 mark downs (for SUPPOSEDLY not looking during a couple turns/​intersections)!!! I can not thank Jeff, Frank, and A to Z Driving enough for the wonderful education and experience they gave me. Now that I have my license I’m able to accept an offer for my dream job! THANK YOU TIMES A THOUSAND! :)
Seriously guys, don’t be nervous, just call them and you’ll be fine! Also, I do NOT reccommend doing your drive test as soon as I did, I just happened to have a knack for driving AND I was in a huge time crunch for my dream job. Practice as long as you need to and Google information about your DMV’s drive test for helpful tips! Google was helpful!

Super sketchy looking but don’t be fooled. These are some of the nicest, knowledgeable people. It is a family-​run business and is half the price of AAA Driving school! I would definitely recommend this place! I passed my drivers test 3 years ago with the help of them and their amazing staff!

Let me just start off by saying that I am 20 years old (Female) and my permit was going to expire in June 2013. It was February and I realized that I better learn how to drive asap before my permit expires. I first went to A to Z driving school (I met the manager and secretary, I found out the price, they gave us an introduction of what to expect.) I left and went to the All American Driving School on Euclid. (AADS was cheaper but since I met the driver my boyfriend and I felt that he wouldn’t push me.) I didn’t get to meet my driver at A to Z driving school but I ended up choosing them.
My driver was Frank. Let me just say that he pushed me! He’s patient but will push you. He tells you exactly what to do. He’s nice, will tell you ahead of time what he wants you to do. If he sees you nervous, he will tell you to relax.
I decided to do the 6 hour driving in February. It was three days, each two hours. After I got my 6 hour driving training. I still needed to practice on my own with my family. I practiced a few times but not a lot. Then I decided to make an appointment at my DMV on March 29 at WESTMINISTER. So I knew that I had to practice. I called A to Z driving school to see if I could get an extra 2 hours of practice and they said I could. All in total at this point I have paid $ 338 for 8 hours. I then needed a car for my test because all the cars my family had wouldn’t pass. I told my driving teacher Frank I was going to do the two hour for $ 150 but he said I was ready and only need 1 hour so I saved $ 40 there! He picked me up on time. We drove around westminister, we practiced like if it was the real driving test. All-​in-​all they prepare you! Just how Frank taught me was exactly how my test was. I paid in total $ 448 and don’t regret it. Because I am now licensed! :D Without A to Z driving school and my driver instructor I don’t think I would have done good. Without them I would have probably procrastinated. But I choose them since my family didn’t have the time to teach me.
Overall, they will make time for you and your schedule. They pick you up and drop you off. It was worth it because we were at the dmv at 12:10ish and didn’t finish everything until 1:39 pm but I am proud of myself. And I am thankful that I had Frank as my driving instructor. :D

I went here after seeing the 4 positive reviews on Unilocal.On the contrary I had an extremely bad experience dealing with these people. They are really short on instructors and wanted me to take at least 3 weeks hiatus between lessons because all their instructors were already booked. After talking for a long time they said they have a slot on a Friday after 2 weeks but I’d have to pay $ 20 more for that as they’d need to pick up the student from long beach. When I asked the manager if they could consider giving me a discount on the $ 20 pickup fees as it was not really my fault that they were short of instructors, the manager said that «she was running a business» would not consider anything.
Later on they in fact charged me $ 30 instead of $ 20 as they had apparently miscalculated the pickup fees the other day. They had not bothered to let us know about the miscalculation beforehand. However, the manager tried to lie in front of the owner and said that she had left a message about the change in price. The owner did nothing about it.
All in all — a nightmare of an experience! Stay away from these guys!

I thought getting my license would be impossible! With a few bad instructors (my last instructor had the nerve to tell me to bribe the dmv proctor to pass) and failed tests, I was frustrated and thought I would never pass. I found A to Z via Unilocal and online message boards, and thought, why not?
Here are the reasons why A to Z is great:
1) They don’t only teach you about the test, but they teach you good driving skills and practices to use in your driving life.
2) They have extensive knowledge about local DMV test courses.
3) They are honest and real with you, they will only recommend you taking the test if they think you can pass. So they won’t waste time with you.
4) They are patient. And will hone in on your weaknesses and give you good tips on how to correct your driving.
5) They are flexible about coming to you. I live all the way in the San Gabriel Valley, and they still picked me up and took me to the DMV. It costs a little more, but worth it if you really want to pass your test.
VERY pleased with A to Z. I had Ed, and he was really patient, awesome, and funny! He put me at ease and gave me confidence on the test (bc I was so nervous)! Keep in mind, you can’t just get experience doing the lessons. You should commit to driving outside of the lessons for a couple of hours with your parents/​family/​friends to really gain practice and confidence in «real world» situations.

With the help of A to Z, I was able to get my driver’s license a bit late in the game — and as an out of stater in the bustling OC area. I had a lot of nerves, but those were quickly dissolved with my experienced and patient teacher Bob. I took a total of 6 lessons, including using the car for my test. Overall, I think I paid $ 300 in two installments and it was well worth the costs.
Bob was always timely, patient, and taught me a lot about driving — I think more drivers in LA should take the refresher course as it seems they have all forgotten the rules of the road. I was very nervous on almost every driving situation, and Bob did everything he could to help me calm my nerves. I passed my test, too and now can safely navigate some of the toughest LA traffic situations. I’m not sure I would have ever gotten my license without the help of such a knowledgeable and kind instructor. I get compliments for my driving from lots of people, and I have A to Z to thank for that!
