Seas the Day Scuba

My wife Lisa wanted to scuba on an upcoming cruise and I wanted her to get a good foundation and teaching before going. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience with Casey, Kelly, Diana, and crew. The level of expertise and respect for the sport as well as the ability to tailor the learning experience for the individual was par for the course. I am very thankful to have found this shop and the level of preparedness that they provided before we leave. If you want to challenge yourself to seriously learn the skills and learn from the best then go into Seas the Day Scuba and talk to them about what they can provide.

We dove with these guys today and it was great. Very knowledgeable and easy to get along with. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a dive shop. My fiancé needed gear and they took the time to properly fit her and got her in good gear at a great price.

This place is awesome! I came in asking about a pair of fins I had bought from somewhere else and they were very helpful and didn’t push a sale. They are very knowledgable about diving and what gear would work best for you. I ended up coming back to get my dive certification and Casey took the time to get me through the class as fast as he could because I only had a week to get it done. Amazing group of people who will go out of their way to help you out.

What a wonderful shop! Everyone we spoke to there was very knowledgeable and friendly. Went there originally to purchase goggles. Went there after Christmas to get an opinion on some fins we purchased on line. They were very honest, and didn’t try to sell us theirs, as the ones we purchased were fine. In the conversations we had with Casey, the owner, my daughter felt so comfortable with him she decided to take the Padi Dive Certification course. She had such a great experience. I would highly recommend this place. My daughter (21 years old) said he knows his stuff, he is very knowledgeable and great to work with.

I love this place! Casey is a wonderful guy and treats you like family! :) he is extremely knowledgeable and helps with anything you need. My husband and I did this for our anniversary. He is enjoying every minute of it and considering a career under the water! Casey is helping him every step of the way :)

All of the instructors at Seas the Day Scuba are top notch. They were extremely helpful in answering any questions we had about the gear we bought, which they gave us a 10% discount for being a student, and various techniques under the water.
Our instructor Lee was great. As being first time divers, he made sure that we would be completely safe while we did our open water dives in Redondo Beach at Veteran’s Park and Catalina Island. He wanted to make sure that we knew all the skills required and helped us become comfortable under the water. What really impressed me though, was that after my father lost his mask and snorkel in the waves on our last dive, Lee gave my father another mask temporarily to use and posted descriptions of my father’s mask and snorkel online in hopes that someone would find it and return it.
All in all, I would highly recommend this scuba shop, as they are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.

I found Seas the Day after moving to the area a few months ago and checking out several other dive shops. I missed my old shop but the staff here made me feel very welcome. They have knowledgable, friendly instructors and everyone is willing to go above and beyond to help their customers. In fact, when PADI lost my certification paperwork, the owner of the shop actually went over there to talk to them and picked up my cert card himself.

My husband and I came in asking for a last minute referral to to get certified in hawaii and Casey made it happen!!! He worked around our crazy schedule taught us the class personally. He’s very knowledgeable Inn everything scuba and will thoroughly answer any questions you may have. Awsome place!!!

I came to Seas the Day a couple months ago looking for a dive shop to help as a divemaster. I was greeted with open arms and have been helping with classes. I recently took a class myself, EFR Instructor, and was amazed at how fast my paperwork was processed. I finished it right before leaving on a week long live-​aboard dive trip and got back with my card in the mail. Crazy fast!

Diana was a great instructor and made the entire exercise to get my open water certification fun but more importantly safe. The owner Casey and his entire staff really invite you in to join their scuba family. I was able to complete everything in under 1 month. I highly recommend their services.

Seas the Day Scuba feels like family. After a few sessions, the store will feel like home, and you’ll be waltzing around the store and the back area with ease. Casey at the beginning will feel like a stern, grizzled veteran, which he is, but he’s really cool after you get to know him. My coach was the always bubbly Ana, who loves to show pictures of her adventures, and is more excited about her millionth dive than everyone was on their first hehe
In no way does it feel like they are running a program to make money, as everyone seems to genuinely love what they do, and take weekend diving trips together all the time. It’s a lot of a fun, and everyone is very supportive and caring of one another. They’re also very flexible with scheduling, and will work on a whim around your needs.
Lastly, the stuff they sell at the shop are all top the line, and basically the stuff that doesn’t get discounted on Amazon. At first, I thought everything was expensive, but nothing here is the usual Walmart/​Sports Chalet variety that you can get for a lot less. So you are paying for the quality, and Casey gives you a discount on the stuff when you take the class, which actually makes it cheaper than getting the same exact gear anywhere else.

Entering the world of scuba is an amazing experience.
I came about Seas the Day Scuba via a Groupon/​Living Social deal and am sure glad that my fiancé and I randomly picked Seas the Day Scuba to obtain our PADI Open Water certificate.
The shop is organized, clean, and runs as perfectly as one of the shops Raptors! The staff is wonderful and super patient. They have a great assortment of gear. I may not know exactly what I am talking about but it all seemed very top end. But they do have something for everyone. To the most beginner to the most advanced, I am sure that they can set you up with ease.
Sherry, just like the fine wine and Roger were our instructors. Both Sherry and Roger absolutely rock! They were both very patient with myself and my fiancé. The first day was a class that was very informative and went through your workbook that you have reviewed from before. I highly recommend that you thoroughly review your workbook prior to class. It helps speed things along and makes your learning experience that much better. All the class sessions that we attended was awesome. Sherry and Roger each took the time to make sure that we comprehended the material presented. If you had a question, you would just ask and they would explain. You wouldn’t get a simple answer but an explanation which helps with my retention of information. The dives were equally as awesome especially our last boat dive. Oh man and the food that they have on the boat was so yummy. This is a review for the shop, but the food was damn good!

I did not have too much interaction with Casey the owner, but the interaction that I did have was very pleasant and professional. He was always checking on us to see if we were having fun and asking if there was anything else that we might need to make our experience even more wonderful.

Casey is a great instructor and truly cares about each and every customer that walks through his door. He does everything in his power to make all his customers happy and make sure they all have a fun scuba diving experience while learning a lot at the same time. The shop is very clean and organized. I highly recommend going to Seas the Day Scuba if you are looking or interested in getting scuba certified.

My experience with Seas the Day Scuba and with the owner Casey started off quite well then went rapidly downhill. I did my Rescue diver and Emergency First Response Instructor course through Seas the Day. My instructor for the Rescue Diver course (Amanda) was fantastic; unfortunately, she’s no longer an instructor at Seas the Day. Sherry (highly praised in several other of Seas the Day’s Unilocal reviews) is also no longer at Seas the Day. I have no major complaints with Casey as an instructor, although I did not do any dive courses through him. The shop also stocks high-​quality technical gear. Unfortunately, now that Sherry is gone, the store’s customer service is abysmal. For several weeks after completing my EFR Instructor course, I could not get a hold of anyone in the shop despite calling multiple times a day during business hours, nor would my voicemails ever be returned. I stopped by the shop several times during business hours only to find the shop closed for the day with a note in the window, nothing posted online. After several weeks of not receiving my EFR Instructor certification, I contacted PADI, only to find out they had never received the paperwork. Finally, after leaving Casey a voicemail mentioning that I’d talked to PADI, he returned my phone call and claimed that he’d mailed my paperwork the day after I’d completed the course, three weeks earlier. He then informed me that I would have to submit the paperwork on my own and pay the certification fee again, despite having already paid the fee to Seas the Day prior to starting the course.
Furthermore, I signed up for the Divemaster and Search and Recovery courses through Seas the Day. I chose not to go on to take the courses through Seas the Day as the drive to the shop was just too far for me to do on a regular basis, so I asked Casey for a refund for both courses, minus the value of the crew packs. He agreed to provide a refund for both, then later refused to provide any refund for the Divemaster course, stating that I’d already begun the course. Technically, this is true — he gave me the final exam for the course after I’d only completed 2 of the 9 chapters of the divemaster book. This exam consisted of 120 multiple choice questions on 2 pieces of paper, which he then graded. He incurred no other costs on my behalf, no training time, no pool time, yet felt justified in not refunding any of the $ 800 fee for the course. I suppose this is his prerogative, but as a potential customer, please be aware of the level of customer service you should expect. I’d also like to point out that it took me 3 weeks of daily phone calls and voicemails, several visits to the shop during business hours, and ultimately a call to PADI regarding my EFR Instructor certification for Casey to finally talk to me and process my refund for the Search and Recovery course. Additionally, he lost my medical form and application for the Divemaster course — paperwork which I should have access to, and which I should have been able to take to the shop at which I went on to take the Divemaster course.
Last, Casey tends to act unprofessionally. I happened to be in the shop for EFR Instructor training the day after Sherry separated from the shop, and Casey extensively trash-​talked her. Many of the things he said were so completely outside what I knew of her character that I couldn’t believe any of what he said, and regardless of its veracity, I found it exceptionally unprofessional for him to slander an ex-​employee to a customer.

I am excited to hear of Seas The Day Scuba’s association with Sherry Avinger. I can’t wait until I get a chance to dive with her again and continue my adventure. I met her in, of all places, Jackson Hole, WY. I had 4 co-​workers that wanted their Open Water Certifications. I walked into the shop there and it was Sherry to the rescue. As we taught together, I watched her bond instantly with my friends and then worked with 2 of their wives (who were undecided about this scuba thing) to get them past their fears and get their certs too. She was amazing to work with, fun to be around, great in the water, and a true mermaid. I earnestly look forward to continuing my professional education and diving adventures with Sherry and Seas The Day Scuba.

Visited the shop to simply grab a snorkel keeper and was met with great customer service from a genuinely invested staff. Will definitely make another visit when I need more gear.

Amazing service and instructors! Co pretend knowledge in all things scuba, with a friendly and mature atmosphere. Definitely recommend this dive shop to anyone from the casual diver to the serious hard-​core diver! They made my certification process easy and fun. Will definitely be seeking further certifications from here!

I had an awesome experience with Sherry! She was able to fit me to the schedule and make it all happen, despite the fact that I have only a week before my trip to Mexico. I started on Saturday, and got my temporary card on Thursday!
Sherry spend a lot of time to work with me on my skills, so that I can really be confident and comfortable in water. She was very patient, careful, helpful and told us about her experience of diving all over the world.
It was an incredible experience! I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

Best dive operation I’ve been to in southern CA. The owner Casey and his staff are wonderful. I actually started learning under Casey while he was at a different dive operation and once I experienced his way of teaching I chose to do all my advanced training with him. He’s been diving most of his life and this shows in his seemingly infinite amount of knowledge and extreme passion for the sport. I always feel safe in the water yet every time I dive with him he manages to challenge me and makes me grow as a diver. There is really no one I trust as much as Casey to be in the water with.
I’m thrilled he has his own dive operation now, as the people he employs are those with professionalism and integrity, characteristics that are hard to tag in some other dive operations. I’ve gone diving with many members of his staff as well and they all place safety as the top priority (while being a ton of fun!) The store is also stocked with top of the line gear (essentially your life saving equipment) which is an important factor for me. And it comes in all colors (another important factor for a female diver lol!).
I highly recommend this place — they have everything from recreational diving to tech diving to air fills and gear. Once you learn how to scuba you will enter a world many others never step foot (or fin) into that will change your life. At Seas the Day you will be treated like family as you journey on into exploring the beauty that covers two thirds of our planet. I did the PADI Open Water Certification Referral Program with Seas the Day Scuba and had an amazing experience! They were able to accommodate my schedule on short notice, and I was pleasantly surprised to find my bf and I were going to have classes and pool sessions privately taught by Ana. Ana is a wonderful instructor; she is so passionate and knowledgeable about scuba, and shares great stories! I instantly felt at ease with her, which is very important when you are trusting someone to teach you how to function underwater! Ana was extremely patient and explained goals and expectations very clearly. She was so nice to take underwater photos and video for us — photos we will cherish for a long time!
The pool sessions are very convenient because they take place right around the corner from the shop. Seas the Day has reserved pool times at a local high school, so there are not other people distracting students from learning.
Casey, the owner, was very generous and set us up with booties, fins, and weights belonging to staff members, so that we would not have to buy those items right off the bat. We did purchase our masks and snorkels, and received a 15% discount for being students. I was very impressed with the variety of scuba gear and accessories available, right down to underwater lights and camera gear. These guys are serious, and I have no doubt they deserve their five star PADI dive shop rating.
Overall, we received a TREMENDOUS value with Seas the Day Scuba. The level of personal attention and expertise we received was truly appreciated. They have my wholehearted A+ recommendation to family and friends!
