History

Established in 1967.

Pat & Betty Mooney opened Piston Service in August 1967 as an independent parts store. Their business grew. In the early 70s they became a Dupont jobber specializing in paint and body shop supplies they also added Gates hydraulic hose and adapters to meet the needs of commercial fish boats and the growing needs in the hydraulic business. In the mid 80s They joined the Parts Plus group to increase their buying power. In the 90s they added a machine shop specializing in cylinder head rebuilding and in some cases complete custom engine rebuilding. In 2011 they joined the Uni-​Select buying group and now fly the Auto Plus flag. This has really helped to make them competitive in today’s difficult market. It has truly become a full serve Traditional parts store.

I Started as a child in this business. Mostly in the way when I was little. I worked all through junior high and High School. I then was one of the lucky ones who got a chance to go fish king crab in the Bearing sea with some of my piers. I was blessed with success. When the time for me to come home and work alongside my father. I took that chance.

We worked together until he retired in 1999. I have been blessed with a loyal Brother in law, family and crew. Our people really make the difference.
