Purchased a $ 700 Sony A6000 bundle. The major complaint I have with the company is that the shipping vendor is UPS. The package was not delivered until the 3^rd attempt and they kept stating that we were not home even though we canceled plans and make it a point to stay home. Fed Ex and Amazon Prime has no problem delivering to my condo complex. One the last attempt my wife and young child waited outside for an hour and a half to meet the driver.
The part that is the most nerve-​racking is that I purchased insurance for the camera and we might have this ordeal again if the camera breaks.
Overall good service from vendor but poor service from UPS made overall experience a stressful and disappointing one. I would only recommend if shipping vendor options change

Huge thank yous to the staff at Cameta Camera online support. Rosanna went above and beyond dealing with our credit card company to finally see that our transaction went through. She then notified us by phone to let us know that this very important gift that we were ordering was processed and awaiting shipment. Jessy, our salesman, was also very helpful and knowledgeable in helping us to select the right photo bundle for our neice. When we had to change shipping instructions after the order had left Cameta’s shipping department, Sarah contacted UPS for us and stayed on the line while she received verification that the change had been processed and accepted by UPS. bought a 40 mm 2.8 nikkor lens for my birthday. The man as so even asked which camera i had to put the lens on that camera to see if i was comfortable with the lens. They offer great kits at low prices. i got a lens cleaning kit along with a uv filter for just 2 – 3 dollars.

I’ve made several purchases here over the years… New camera, accessories, photo printer. The staff is so helpful. I really appreciate the small store attention that they provide as compared to a big box store. They took time to help me understand and use what I was buying. I would go here for future purchases for sure.

I brought my sony nex-​5 in for repair because the lens wasn’t focusing correctly. I had previously brought the camera into another store where the ‘expert’ said I would have to purchase a brand new lens. Two of cameta cameras friendly employees tested the camera, played with the settings and reverted the camera back to the default settings and BOOM my nex-​5 was working perfectly in no time. I even offered to pay for their expertise and services but they respectfully declined. I will be coming back here again for any of my camera needs and future purchases!

Buying a mid to high end SLR can be an awful experience. The grey market sellers like to bait people with low prices and deceptive sales.
Thank God for Amazon and Cameta Camera. Both only sell legit, non grey market cameras and lenses, with service that is second to none.
Why buy from Cameta over Amazon?
Cameta often offers package deals that Amazon does not. The price might be the same but you get a lot of extras from Cameta.
I live hundreds of miles away, but I buy most of my equipment from Cameta. They have always been fast and reliable.

Although I live 1000 miles from this store, the customer service is remarkable! Any problem, any price quote, any parts order… anything…it’s handled immediately via email within 2 minutes by Mr. Enzo. I’ve been a long time customer, and really recommend Cameta for anyone’s camera and accessory needs.

It’s undeniable their DSLR packages are a great value and their positive reviews make Cameta an attractive place to buy a camera.
Trying to place an online order has been a tremendous hassle and exercise in patience — with an upcoming vacation, my wife and I turned to Cameta to purchase our first DSLR.
After receiving order confirmation (s), we’ve had our order cancelled 3X and had challenges getting anyone on the phone to help complete our order.
The final frustration was when I did make phone contact, only to be told we would have to submit a certified check for payment (no PayPal, Credit Cards wouldn’t work, Amazon couldn’t ship in a timely fashion).
This may be a good place to purchase in person, but this experience shows poor online support.

This place is the one of the few go to places for cameras and accessories on Long Island. I have come here many times looking for random obscure items and they have them in stock.
On a more recent visit, I came in with a malfunctioning camera on the day before I had a big shoot. They told me that the camera would have to be serviced by canon and the repair could cost up to $ 300. I asked them if they had rentals and they told me that they do not do that. They strongly advised me to buy a new canon 5d mark 3. I almost did, I was desperate to have a working camera for my shoot the next day. Thankfully, I hesitated and made some calls. It turns out their competitor down the road rents gear. $ 50 rental vs $ 2500 plus tax. My camera will be fixed.
I’m sure they knew that their competitor rented gear. Not cool Cameta!

camera came as promised with a lot of stuff needed to manage pictures. Telephone sales guy made up a special package with extra batteries and memory cards. Handy HDMI plug to camera to watch photos on TV.

It was a Saturday morning, as I’m getting ready to assemble all my camera equipment for an event that I was shooting later that day. As I’m gathering everything, I realize that I can’t find an accessory for my camera that I REALLY needed for the event. I frantically search every corner of my house to no avail, and realize that I’ll have to buy a new one. I work in the city, so I normally shop at either Adorama or B&H, but they’re closed on Saturdays. Called up every single camera store in my area that I could find on Google, but no luck. Finally found Cameta Camera, and the friendly person that answered the phone nicely told me that they carry the item I was looking for. YES!
After a 45 minute drive, I finally arrive at Cameta Camera. They were pretty busy, but the staff was very friendly and answered all the questions that I had (even the ones not regarding to the item that I was looking for). They seem to know a lot about photography, and unlike other camera stores that I normally shop, they didn’t have a snobby, know-​it-​all attitude. For a small store, they actually carry a variety of items from cameras, to lenses, to all equipment that a pro might need.
I’m glad I found this camera store, and I will be back here next time I need to purchase an item for my camera.

What a life saver. Needed a film camera for my daughters high school photography class. Hard to find these days. Not only did they have one in stock but were able to transfer the lens from a broken camera thus saving me from a large expense. the salesman was patient and helpful. took the time to show my daughter how to use the camera properly. They new their stuff and went above and beyond to be helpful.

Finally a camera store with people who know photography! How many idiots do you have to talk to at Best Buy and Target before you smack them?!
This place is located right off of 110 i believe before the LIRR tracks on the left side of the road if you are coming down into Amityville. I came here to get a SB 700 Flash for my Nikon and they had both new and used ones, the difference was $ 50 in price. The old man was very helpful, he told me all the ways to shoot and angle the flash when inside a hall with many lights, mirrors, etc.
Its nice to talk to people speak your language and have a background in what they are selling. These guys also sell a ton of stuff online but if you’re on the Island its worth the drive.

OUTSTANDING Customer service and value. I ordered a camera bundle from them, was no problem to customize, they even included an upgraded memory card reader and lens hoods, free! My shipment arrived quickly, was 100% accurate, and every item was in mint condition. I’m so impressed and satisfied, they have earned my business for life!

Amazon had quoted the shipping for 3 business days but once the order was processed and ready to ship I got an email from FedEx saying it would be 5 business days. I needed it by 3 so I called up Cameta Camera and they ran to the pallet being shipped out & sent off a new order & even discounted the shipping. Cameta Camera is no superstore, but the staff on hand and adequate stock make your next buying experience one you desire to repeat.
I’ve purchased many small items either online (
) and in store from Cameta, but the other day was my first experience picking up a body from them. I wanted a CSC with MFT mount, and was mostly sold on a Panasonic GX7.
I came into the store a little later than expected, and right before closing time, but was greeted and worked with to make a good, fair purchase. Included with my GX7, for basically free, was a case, UV, ND, and polarizing filter, 32 gb card, cleaning kit, silly screw on lens attachments (hey, free is free), and step — up rings. I additionally bought a 20 mm f/1.7 lens, which they knocked $ 30 off. Very satisfied.
I’ve purchased used bodies, lenses, and other photo/​video knickknacks from Cameta, and am always pleasantly surprised at the things they throw in (lens caps, filters, bags and cases, and cleaning kits).
If you want a camera store that will give you a great deal, and more imporrantly, a buying experience guided by caring and knowledgeable staff, come to cameta.

Having problems with my Nikon so went back to Camera. Last time Peter helped me and I gave 5 stars. This time Walter helped. He quickly diagnosed the problem and then he fixed it. He then decided my camera was dirty so he asked if he could clean it. Of course I said yes. Five minutes later I had what looked like a new
camera. I then decided to bye a new 8gb card and he recommended the less expensive card as a wiser purchase. No charge for the fix, the cleaning or the advice. Great service. Great store.

Review is for Phone sales refurbished D800. I ordered a D800 refurbished for $ 2399 which came with a 1 year warranty (90 days from Nikon and the other 9 months covered by Cameta) I also paid $ 99 for an extra 2 year full warranty from Mack which Cameta has a contract through.
For a Nikon USA D800 refurbished $ 2399 is a great deal. All refurbished cameras must pass the same tests at the factory (which are very stringent) as all other cameras do. Anything from external body blemishes, faulty electronic connection, ect…
Free standard FedEx ground shipping and no taxes due to being delivered.
I have purchased Camera equipment from Phone support and had a good experience.
I give 4 of 5 stars due to their lengthy waiting period for credit card purchases to confirm validity of the card that it is not stolen. Plus their cut off time to order to get same day shipping is 4pm which I find quite early. I can’t see why they don’t have cut off at 6pm since there is a FedEx location 8 miles away in Melville. That gives Cameta 2 hours longer cutoff time to order and 2 hours from 6pm to pack orders and drive 8 miles away.
Up to 2 days waiting for my order to ship on top of 7 – 10 business days on FedEx ground shipping could become 15 – 17 days working around a weekend or 2.
I called B&H Photo and a few other comparable Camera stores with phone ordering had no 2 day wait for purchases under $ 3000.
I know they must look out for themselves but as a previous customer I would think it’s obvious I am not using a stolen credit card. Also I know personally as a business owner that I could pay an insurance to offset the credit card theft problem when/​if it happened
In general great phone support, I do wish they extended their ordering deadline and adopted other credit card purchasing methods to expedite their purchases

I am being reimbursed but have still not heard from Cameta Camera. I paid for the camera via PayPal, which has just completed its investigation and ruled in my (buyer) favor:

All told I am out about $ 20 for shipping costs not covered by the FedEx label provided by Cameta, but at this point am glad to put the issue to rest.
