History

History surrounds you at Squire On Main — Buffalo history, family history, and food history.
Our restaurant is located in the same building that used to be The Squire Shop, a prominent men’s clothing outlet that designed and sold the famous Buffalo tie from 1943 to 1996. Both the name of the shop and its renowned excellence among Buffalonians inspired our owner, Sean Macaluso, who strives to provide an extremely high-quality experience for all his guests, just as The Squire Shop did.
As plans for the restaurant were being finalized, Sean, who worked for years at a prominent bistro on Rhode Island Street in Buffalo, made an interesting discovery about his own family history: his great-grandfather once owned a restaurant called Squire on Rhode Island more than 40 years ago. Opening the restaurant and starting this new venture began to feel more and more like destiny for Sean, and Squire On Main was soon born.
