Stopped in for a quick counter lunch and had a chicken filet sandwich. Got a frozen, shaped chicken breast patty on a grocery store bun. Thought It’d be a fried thing. Oops. Crushingly tasteless. Bit of saltiness, I think. Can’t imagine any lunch here would actually be good, but they do so little lunch cooking I don’t think inedibility would be possible either. Felt like what a quick lunch might have been in a 1950s-70s corner luncheonette, really. Lot of charm. Think some real regulars come here. Friends, family. That’s the only reason why. Not the food. Maybe breakfast is more scratch.

Nothing special. I don’t understand why everyone makes a big deal that it is a «locals place». I can stalk the elusive«local» at the grocery store, gas station, and land fill. I have lived here 28 years but am I a local? I think they mean«a regular». If you’re not a regular you get mediocre service. The food is fine but nothing special. It’s next to a Dunkin Donuts. Take your choice – neither one is special.

It’s not a fancy over-the-top breakfast place, it’s not geared especially towards students or tourists(though if you don’t act like the worst of either you’ll be welcome). This place is the real deal, here-since-forever, local breakfast spot. The food is some of the most reasonably priced in the valley with basic delectable fare. The staff is friendly, not pretentious, not servile. It’s a good place, especially if you’re an early riser, these guys open at 5:30AM, to my knowledge no other place in Amherst does this(save for Bruegger’s). I would highly recommend this place especially on days when you have to be up early to travel, even if you’re not one of the small cadre of old truckers at a table in the corner, you’ll be pleased with the early-morning service. I hope that this place continues to serve the valley as it has for so many years with its consistent service.

I worked here and had a wonderful experience. The people eating here are always incredibly friendly, the walls are lined with a mural from a local artist, and the food is hot and delicious. It’s diner food, so come hungry and eat the pancakes or BLT and french fries! Perfect bacon and eggs every time.

I love breakfast food and I love diners. One of the only places in the area where you can get a big diner style breakfast for a good price. I have tried almost every breakfast option they have and every time I left full and satisfied. If your looking to get a gourmet pampered breakfast this isn’t really the place for you. It reminds me of the old style Irish diners in the city. Great place for a big wholesome breakfast with coffee.

DONOTGOHERE! Overall worst experience I have had at any restaurant in amherst. Their slogan«where friends come to meet» couldn’t be farther from the truth. I came here with 8 friends and instead allowing us to put tables together so we could all sit down comfortably they refused to make any accommodations at all and were extremely rude when I asked. I would go as far as to say the service was piss poor. Between the blatent disregard for any of our requests and the waitress slapping the check down with out saying anything, I have plenty of reasons never to go back. Save your self time as money and don’t go here.

I’ve been twice and both times the service has been rude and the food bland. Unless you’re a regular don’t expect a friendly smile. They seem to have very little interest in making new customers welcome. I’m a huge fan of diners, but this is not a good one!

I stopped at Kelly’s looking to get a quick bite before heading back to Boston. The food was inedible, even the bacon was awful, it tasted like charred grease. The low prices matched the low quality. Do not get the French toast. Everyone at the table was laughing at my French toast order and a soggy piece of brown bread. Also the small juice came as a shot glass. Over all skip stopping at kellys the place is terrible.

Our eating at this place is why Unilocal is such a wonderful tool. We didn’t want $ 10.00 omelets. We wanted a decent breakfast for under $ 10.00 per person total. The reviews are somewhat overly enthusiastic. But, the food, and service were decent… just what we expected. What we didn’t expect, and loved, was the feeling that we had suddenly entered a locals-only secret spot. from the hand-painted wall murals, to the cozy familiarity, it was nice to pretend that we lived in this picturesque western Mass. village. It was a perfect little spot to feel at home, far away from home.

If you like eggs perfectly, this is the place to go. I have never seen eggs over easy done so well and so consistently. The coffee needs improvement — but I’ll keep going back for the best eggs ever. Service is excellent, by the way!

I LOVEDINERS. I’m from Boston originally and within the city there’s a handful of diners that one can find. However, one only decides to devote theirselves to only a select few that are worthy for their mouths and apetites. Kelly’s Restaurant is one of them. I’ve been searching for a diner, or diner-esque spot to serve my breakfast needs and it took me three years to find Kelly’s. It’s located away from the center(not far though), and away from all the hustle and bustle of college kids. My favorite to go item at Kelly’s is their breakfast special. 2 eggs however you want, 2 meants(sausage or bacon) and hash browns. I add a cup of coffee and a half order of chocolate chip pancakes, and it comes to no more than 8 dollars roughly. I love Kelly’s. And you should too.

This isn’t for college students. You students I don’t think will get it. I don’t say that to make you feel bad, I say that because if you go there, you just won’t understand it. It’s not you’re fault. You just need to be a local to make it all work. When you walk in, you’ll see Al and Helen and you won’t know them. Or, Jeff… or Pete or any of the other regulars. It’s like going to see your friends for breakfast. The coffee is always hot and flowing. The pancakes are always perfect and eggs cooked just the way you like em. Good hash and omelets that are so consistent it’s almost scary. And, not many places can do a poached egg like they can… if they do it at all. At Kelly’s, they won’t even blink an eye if you ask for it poached. The prices are decent and the service is spot on. So if you are a student, and you decide to go, go more than once. Maybe, just maybe you’ll get it.
