We are 3 experienced architects, each with more than 30 years in the business. Our current /recent projects: Rebuild an exterior wall for a five story condominium building; restore a 135-year-old historic athenaeum (now a courthouse); planning and design of an addition to a large historic church; construction drawings for a new condominium/residential/business building and several residential additions/renovations.
We specialize in architecture that «fits in»: that harmonizes with its surroundings.
History
Established in 1974.
Originally founded as The Gillen Partnership in 1974, Gillen Collaborative Architects, Inc., is a service oriented design firm with a long history of successful architectural, historic renovation and interior design experience.
In addition to participating in numerous historic restoration rehabilitation projects, the firm has 25 years of experience in repair/renovation projects including renovations to Seelye Hall at Smith College; the office building/bus depot known as «One Round House Plaza» in Northampton, the Holstein Association Headquarters in Vermont, the Tucker Taft Building in Amherst, and handicap access modifications for Great Barrington, Northampton and the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
Currently the Gillen Collaborative partners are: William Gillen, John Krifka and Carol Vincze.

Business Owner
William «Bill» Gillen is an experienced architect and local resident of Amherst, MA. He is a past president of the American Institute of Architects, the Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Amherst Rotary Club. Bill is a proponent of local businesses and community resources. Along with his architectural work, he and his wife Connie are the owners of Sunset Farm in Amherst, MA.
