DOUBLEBEWARE! My experience is nearly exact to the previous review. I gave a 1⁄3 deposit to Dan in July of this year. He was supposed to begin work on Sept 1 and be done by Sept 15. He started weeks late and then demanded the second payment once the prep was done. It is now November and he has done a shoddy job on the prep work and abandon the project. He left our hot tub sitting in the middle of the yard and the house all bear and raw with nothing to protect it for the winter. This man is either a complete crook or at best an extremely incompetent project manager.

BEWARE! Clearly, Dan Gough Paining has fallen apart. From the A ratings prior to this summer, this company has earned consecutive F ratings(see other reviews). I write this review in the hopes that no other home owner is saddled with this dishonest, unprofessional outfit. From the substandard work to the lack of communication, from the delayed timelines to the disappearing deposits, this project was a disaster. On May 24, I contracted with the owner, Dan, to have the job begun on August 15 and finished by August 24. At his request, I paid $ 2100, a third of the cost of the staining and carpentry. After putting off the job until late September, he did just enough work to request a next payment with a straight face. On 10/3, in a moment of monumental miscalculation, I gave a second payment. Apparently, I am a hopeless optimist about human nature, and I really was trying to support some movement on the job. Well…my trust and optimism was smashed. Riding off with my second check was the last I saw of Dan Gough Painting, and I’ve heard only a one-line text since. I am now faced with trying to recover thousands of dollars of deposit on a job that is, at best, 10% finished. So, I’m facing the winter with exposed wood all over my house, shutters laying on my lawn, and temperatures now too cold to paint. Nice. Within the constraints of the Unilocal rating system, I cannot fully express my opinion… I’ll settle on 1 star.
