If your looking for a half ass cheesesteak with no flavor on a barely baked roll this is your place. Phillies phamous are known for their baked in house rolls, you would think at least they would be good… Nope, the rolls barely have any color and are doughy as hell. I’ve been here about 3 or 4 times and each time I’m more let down. Luckily I’ve learned my lesson and won’t be going back.

I wanted to post an update to my August review after seeing the comment from the business. If there was any cheese on any of the sandwiches, it was not detectable. Unfortunately, we were never offered a new order. Like I said, we were told we had to bring the steaks back in. There was never any mention of making a new order — that would have been a completely different story, and my family would have appreciated that. The driver did show back up over an hour later to ask for a coupon she forgot to collect. By that time we had already eaten(we tried to eat the sandwiches anyway, but couldn’t get through them — they were thrown out and we ate something else). The driver also did not make any mention of a new order or any kind of refund either — so we didn’t see any need to show her the sandwiches over an hour after they had been delivered we had eaten something else. From our perspective, this service and food is definitely unacceptable.

This is by far the best place for a Cheesesteak or Hoagie in all of Ambler. This is the only place with REAL South Philly style primo italiano hoagies. Awesome selection of wing sauces and they are available on Grubhub.

Really great place for a sandwich. Love their roast pork with broccoli rabe and sharp provolone. It’s 3 meals for me! Great rolls, super nice people there.

Just left here a few minutes ago. Ordered my standard steak with onions, wiz and long hots. Also got cheese fries. Steak was dry like really dry. I had to get a cup of wiz just to make it palatable. You know it’s a bad sign when the meat to long hot ratio is 50⁄50. They obviously have started cutting corners to maximize profit. I’m not mad at that if they would still put out a quality product. They don’t. The fries were gross. Soggy, way over cooked and did I mention gross. I gave 2 stars cause service was good and the inside was clean. I won’t be coming back here, it’s obvious this place is on a major downswing. Next time I’m craving a steak I’ll wait and go to Philly.

I have to say this place is terrible. The food is very inconsistent. The French fries order is very small, and come under or over cooked. What is up with the cheese steaks. They charge $ 8 for it and it’s not even quality steak. This place is a joke! Don’t waste your $ there. One star is to many!

The food is usually very good. That is why we continue to order there even though they somehow always mess up our delivery orders. We once ordered a burger and when I bit into it, it was raw inside. My bf called to complain and the only solution they could give us was to go there and pick up a new one. We ordered delivery for a reason. Missing dressings for salads a couple times, no seeded rolls when we specifically order south philly hoagies(says specifically on menu that they come on seeded roll), at least twice received mozzarella sticks when we ordered mozzarella cheese fries, cold chicken for chicken cutlet sandwiches, received a cheesesteak twice instead of chicken sandwich. It has now become a joke in our house because of how often it happens. We have decided to no longer order for delivery so we will see how picking up goes. Get it together please!

Great neighborhood sandwich shop that’s held down a spot that had constantly changed hands until they took over. Their cheesesteaks and hoagies are all made fresh to order and the only downside of the place is that at times they can get backed up with orders. It can take twenty minutes for a simple hoagie to be ready, but when it’s done it will be delicious and worth the wait.

Soo when I first had their buffalo chicken cheese steak(as recommended) I loved it. But over time they got worse. I don’t know if its the employees being lazy or they just don’t give a shit anymore but it has become a frequent thing now to put barely any meat in the cheese steak. It’s more like a roll with some meat sprinkled on it. Normally I don’t write reviews but I get food from there often enough and I’ve been trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but I just can’t anymore. Also, when you order from them on the phone they’re not always the most pleasant. I’m more than unsatisfied and will no longer be recommending their business to anyone.

Get your act together guys. If I place an order online and it allows me to choose the time to pick it up, it should be ready at that time. Not 30 minutes later. And then to be given an attitude by the counter is unacceptable. Also, if you raise your prices 50% for a particular item, you should update your menus. Extremely disappointed.

Where do I begin? I’ve been going to Philly’s Phamous since they opened. What was once one of my favorite local places has completely pissed me off for the last time. They skimp on the cheesesteaks. Any pictures that look loaded up on meat may have come from them at one point but it is now a thing of the past. Ordering delivery just isn’t worth the time it take because no matter what time of the day it will take 45 minutes to an hour and a half to get your food, which usually shows up cold and missing something. If you wanna order take out and pick it up yourself, it’s great. I love their wing dings, salads could use some carrots, and their attitudes could use some serious adjustment. There’s a spot on their website that says, «text phamous to whatever number to get a free cheesesteak or hoagie with your next order. So I try to do that. The guy hands the phone off to the boss without even listening to me because he has no idea what I’m talking about and I have to explain what I did again. Then they tell me, «oh yeah, you have to come in for a voucher for it.» So I proceed to explain why they need to change what it says on the website and the text because it was horribly misleading and they hung up on me. I’ll order food their still simply because I like it, but I’m very disappointed in how they treat their long time customers.

I love this place when it’s on but hate it when it’s off. I can go there and eat one of the best steaks of my life or I can take a few bites and wanna throw it away. Too inconsistent to be this pricey. on my last visit my sandwich was served to me on stale bread. Now that’s hard for me to believe because they bake their own bread fresh I’m told. Well on this day the bread was so hard it actually cut the roof of my mouth. The line was very long and they were slammed so trading my sandwich in was not an option. Like I said, I’ve gone there before and literally had the best steak I’ve ever had. I will give them another shot because it could be sooooo good when it’s on. Plus their fries are amazing … Best cheese fries I’ve ever had. Really. I wish they would get some of that hot sauce like they have at pats and Steve’s. THAT would be amazing on their steaks. Management, u listening ??? Lol… To summarize, give em a try and hope they are having a good day.

The food was atypical for a sandwich shop, but really good. Not a lot of sauce, but good. Homemade rolls were really good as well. The place is a small place in a sketchy part of town. The inside is a grease-filled cacophony of sports on tv and noise from the kitchen, which is right there, not in the back. The dining part of the room is all sports memorabilia and filled with customers that are the type of sports fans that wear football jerseys everywhere and park with disregard to parking spaces. At least on this day. The worst part of my experience was waiting 50 minutes for a couple of sandwiches, even with 5 guys running around the kitchen area. Yes, 50 minutes. They were very friendly and kept saying«just a few more minutes» but this wait, plus the previous comments from other reviewers about long waits, will probably keep me from coming back too soon. But I will try again, and hopefully the wait for the food will not be outrageous.

Their«Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak» is AWESOME! I’ve never had anything bad off their menus. Their catering is great as well! Friendly staff, reasonably priced, overall great.

Always good. My only gripe is probably petty. I hate peppers. A friend of mine and I both ordered cheesesteaks. I ordered mine the right way and he ordered his with all kinds of hot peppers and onions and stuff(he’s from the south). That would be fine but the peppers got in my cheesesteak too. Ruined it. Outside of that it’s my favorite hoagie spot close to home.

I saw all of the other reviews so I thought I couldn’t miss with this place. Walking in the door the place is decorated with photos of Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers players, but the walls still seemed strangely empty. I must have missed on my order, the chicken was well flavored but seemed a little too dry. Many of the other reviews talked about the food being really oily, but thankfully this was not the case. The fries were fresh cut but they were extremely greasy and I’m not a fan of the thick cut. I’m willing to try this place again since they have a large variety of sandwiches, the staff was nice, and maybe I just picked a bad item on the menu.

We ordered a couple of cheese steaks and the roasted pork Italiano. My son suggested we come here because of the hype about their sandwiches. My roasted pork with broccoli rabe was good — not great, not bad. But my wife’s cheese steak was very greasy for no reason. I also mentioned that their fountain soda was flat. I think they changed the CO, but it was still pretty flat. Service was good and prompt, but the food was okay at best. There are too many other choices to have a cheese steak. But if you’re stuck in Ambler, this would suffice.
