I have been coming to this Barnes and nobles for the Starbucks. Normally I only visit Starbucks corp stores, but no other choices here in Altoona, pa. The coffee is great. The staff is super friendly, they always remember me drink order.

Poor Customer Service. I am a BN member. I got a coffee and they couldn’t find my membership information. Which was not a big deal, as I joined a month ago. Then I went to the service desk for help finding a software manual. The woman there could barely come unglued from her phone long enough to help me. She was very short with me when I didn’t know the author. It is a software manual not a novel. When her colleague tried to assist, she blew him off. Needless to say I walked out of the store empty handed.

I used to spend days in this place working while my wife would study for nursing school. I always hung out in the Starbucks section because they have really comfortable sofa chairs. Free fast wifi which always seemed to work!

This review is for the café— HORRIBLE. Always inconsistent, over sugared and downright nasty!!! You might as well throw your money out the window and watch it blow by the mountains. PS– the Barnes and nobles has a good book selection and that is the only reason why I am giving this place 2 stars

I’ll start off with the most important thing you need to know about this store: this is the ONLYSTARBUCKSINALTOONA! Nope, no standalone Starbucks stores. Don’t even bother trying Target or any grocery stores. Barnes and Noble has the only one. Yeah, the drinks are a little more expensive and they don’t take Starbucks gift cards, but this is your only choice in the area. As a plus, the food selection is far superior to regular Starbucks chain stores – delicious-looking cookies, wraps, etc. Oh, and there’s a bookstore around the Starbucks kiosk. It’s your typical B&N chain store, although on the small side if you’re used to the big city stores. There is plenty of cushy seating because nobody goes to bookstores anymore. Bathrooms are relatively clean and the aisles are well maintained. Overall, a great place to find a new book. And coffee. :D

Not sure if this is the only book store in Altoona — but it’s the only one I found on Unilocal. We stopped in here one evening before going to dinner. I wanted something paper-based to read in bed. Reading from my iPad tends to keep me awake all night. Picked up a couple of magazines, plus a new hardcover book from one of my favorite authors(Patrick F. McManus), and a couple of Dilbert and Foxtrot books. Great selection, large store, and helpful staff! Great book store!
