Virginia International Raceway

Have only been to VIR once, and absolutely loved it. We visited VIR as competitors in 2015, and camped in the paddock. The showers were extremely nice, my wife hates camping but actually enjoyed our time at VIR. VIR is best described as a country club for motorsports, and that’s exactly what it is. Between Oak Tree Tavern and the Spa, there’s plenty for my wife to do in between sessions on the track. The racing surface itself, very high quality and technical racetrack. Plenty of run off room, and one of the racetracks I feel the safest at, as a driver. Our next trip, we are staying in the Pit Road Suites and will provide an updated review.

After a boy’s weekend here, I can say this is definitely the place for any such activity. The facilities are great and the driving is even better.

As a race fan I have been driving here since 2002. I have seen the many changes it has gone through and can’t help but to be so grateful that this is my home track.
The facilities are well maintained, the runoff room rather «healthy» and best of all, it’s fast and fun.
I have visited many tracks across the country and can honestly say that this is definitely one of the top ones around. If you’ve been considering tracking your vehicle, go here first — you won’t be disappointed.

This racetrack has become a beautifully maintained facility from the track itself, which is newly paved, the Pro Shop, paddock area, lodging, dining and yes, there is a spa! They have truly transformed VIR into a racetrack resort, and it is gorgeous.
The track itself is challenging– 3.24 miles of turns (the full track), majestic esses (that will jack you up at high speeds!), and just all around difficulty, even people who have some experience but who do not know VIR may have a learning curve when they first come out. This track has 5 different configurations.
Everyone is very friendly and the atmosphere is great. Definitely one of the best ones in the Southeast/​mid-​atlantic area.

Fantastic resource in the southeast for all kinds of motorsports. I’ve been going here regularly for car and motorcycle track days as well as a spectator for over 10 years and I really love this place. The track has been called «Americas Nurburgring» if that gives you any indication of how much fun it is. The facilities here are good with a hotel and cottages onsite and clean restroom facilities throughout. They have a full service kitchen that has the typical burgers, dogs, and fries, but make sure you go for the Carolina style pork BBQ sandwich as they make one of the best you’ll find anywhere. The atmosphere as a spectator and as a participant is always fun and relaxed.
The only fly in the ointment is that they switched to Coke products after being a proper Pepsi facility since the beginning. Now I have to bring my own.

Just got back from 4-​days driving on this track and I’m impressed. I stayed at The Lodge and will try for one of the garage rooms next time. The ability to stay on the facility makes all the difference in the world for those 7AM tech inspections!
Had a good dinner at the Oak Tree Tavern. The service is a bit slow as they seem to get overwhelmed with the amount of people that show up during track events.
Internet service is the room is FAST. I was able to upload videos from my runs easily at the end of each day.
The track itself is a great combination of technical turns (climbing esses) and high speed straights. Go as fast as you dare but be careful. A couple of cars bit the dust during my event, not a pleasant sight and you’re miles from civilization. Better have a tow vehicle and trailer if you’re serious!

Believe it or not there are people who do exist out there that race something other than a dirt bike or an old crashed up car on a dirt track. And yes, some of us don’t even like (yes I’m going to say it and I hope I don’t make anyone upset) NASCAR! Wow I really said it! But there are a few who race MotoGp Bike and this track was a nice one. They have nice garages you can rent, Plus above the garages the have small apartment to rent. But if your a camper kind of person you can pay for electric hookup.

This is one of my favorite places on the face of this earth. The uphill esses are an absolute blast and nothing more puckering than losing brakes going into T1. I have driven all configurations except for Grand. If you have never been on a track before, don’t start here. You will be spoiled!!!

With an outstanding track and on site facilities, like the villas, and track side suites and the lodge at VIR, as well as Connies Pub, once on property, you really don’t have to leave!
Great driving course, and super accomodations. This is a place that a car guy can bring his best girl and she will even enjoy herself!

If I could only give this place 10 stars! If I’m not on a mountain snowboarding, there is no other place I’d rather be.
VIR is the reason why I still have a car in Virginia and travel 3000 miles just to drive on this amazing 4.2 mile track. The track is so large, they are able to run it in 5 different configurations. VIR host some of the premier car and motorcycle races in the world, as well as driving schools sponsered by clubs like mazdadrivers, audi, mercedes, skip barber, nasa, car guys, etc. pics to come…

My uncle drives in vintage car races here… but I never visited until last year for the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series. I’m planning to go back this year for the entire weekend so I can catch all the action. It’s fun to watch the cars and see the cars everyone else is driving (last year I saw 3 Lotus’). It’s a beautiful course too.
