We have been buying rainwater storage tanks from these folks for over five years… one or two at a time each year. We are now up to nine! We have not had any of the problems described in other posts related to pricing or service. With regard to pricing, I wonder if the problem that some of the folks had might be related to the fact that the barrels for rainwater storage are DIFFERENT from those sold for potable water storage; the pricing for each type is not the same, even for the same size tanks. In general, rainwater tanks seem to be more expensive. In addition, the potable water tanks are listed first on the The Tank Source’ website; the rainwater tanks are found towards THEBOTTOM. For example, Bushman makes 205 gal round tanks for both purposes, but the connections for the two types of tanks are quite different. Using the correct type makes installation much easier, especially for rainwater storage where one is hoping to qualify for the current rebates that are available. So, if someone was unaware of the difference between the two tanks, and simply asked about water tanks when checking pricing online or when calling to ask about costs and discounts, it is entirely possible that the price checked online or given out over the phone was for a POTABLE water tank, not a rainwater tank. So when you check pricing, it is important that you are certain you know which type you need/want to purchase if you want to get the correct info! On the service front, they are a small business and yes, it sometimes shows. We once experienced them being 20 minutes or so late to open up in the morning. Most of the staff was there, waiting with us until the person with the keys showed up! It happens. And, one time we did have a bit of a wait on a Saturday while others ahead of us were taken care of. But that is certainly consistent with what we experience at Dixieline or Home Depot on a Saturday. And, we have never had them not answer the phone when we called during business hours either. Finally, the place is pretty good size, so sometimes we have had to shout a friendly greeting like, «Hi there?» a few times… just to let them know we were there. But once they knew we were there, we have always been treated with respect and cheerfulness.

Emailed about getting a 70+ gallon stock tank, being flexible on material/size and they told me to go to Home Depot. Nice. I know they have something I can use but I’m not going to bother dealing with them.

I tried to buy a tank off these guys and the whole process ended up being a big waste of time. First, I had to call several times to get someone to answer the phone. Then finally I was emailed a credit card invoice form since they won’t take a CC over the phone. I quickly filled it out and faxed it back as it said to on the form. Since I didn’t hear from anybody in a couple days, I called and spoke to the pompous asshole who told me nobody checks the fax machine. Then he said he was going to rip up my invoice and I can buy some somebody else! Well, I thought he was having a bad day but after looking at Unilocal I now see this guy is clearly a jerk and Im happy I didn’t give him any of my money.

This place was ok. Came in and got what I needed. The owner(at least what I think was the owner) was not very personable and was humming and whistling the whole time he was helping me. No one greeted me when I entered the shop, I had to wait 5 – 10 min before being acknowledged. Kind of a weird setup with water tanks and car parts. Anyway got what I needed for a good price so I can’t complain.

AVOID this place. This place has the worse customer service of any business that I have dealt with. Why these knuckleheads are still in business is a miracle. We drove 90 miles down to The Tank Source, only to me met by an arrogant, pompous ass. The owner clearly lacks customer service. We drove down there only to discover that he did not have the tanks in stock that he said he had. This business is an example of how not to run a business. When you think of bait and switch, this is the place to think of. In addition to selling water tanks, they also sell auto parts at this location. Not quite sure why he is also running an auto parts store out of this business. If you want or need a large water tank, call Discount Water Tanks… They have great customer service skills and are always happy to answer any questions. We ended up buying four 10,000 gallon water tanks from Discount Water Tanks. If you are a commercial business or an agricultural business, avoid this place. If I could give this business something lower than one star, I would. AVOID this place and don’t waste your time with this business. I’m happy to answer any questions for clarification

Horrible customer service… Prices were cheap on internet, drove 60miles to pick up a water tank just to have them tell me freight charges exceed the cost of the tank out pricing them from just about anyone else… Wasted gas wasted time. FAIL

If you need your tank asap, avoid this place. Clearly a lack of business skills with this place. Some dude answering his cell phone when he can. Some little girl will tell you they will call you right back. Be prepared to be frustrated. Go to the Plastic Mart. A real company that takes care of business for you.
