The Café at Viejas

We had so much fun at viejas and we got hungry, we went to the café everyone was super nice and especially our waiter masoud he came over introduce himself and he had a very cute smile and it was very attracting, he told me about the special the Cobb salad and so i got it, it was very good and mouth watering i told him who is the chef he said Chef bobby and our manger is Christina and he also offered me if i would like to meet them. My experience was outstanding and i will always come back not just for the food but for the service. I love the new hotel it reminds me of Vegas.

@ 4:20 in the afternoon on a Saturday we were seated right away. We sat in the café for more than 10 mins with no service. nothing, no drinks no anything. We walked out. The hostess said thank you.

Very average, hit & miss restaurant. Their calamari tastes & looks like fried frozen fish sticks. On the plus side the burger tasted good (and I really hope it truly is grass fed beef). The carnitas nachos were delicious (very greasy, yet delicious) and bountiful. They make you wait a while for a table and the hostess is not always manning the front, so you’ll have to wait just to get on the wait list. I felt bad for our awesome server. She was being kind and engaging us in a small conversation and another worker (maybe supervisor) interrupted her rudely to micromanage her.
Customers:
1. Expect to wait.
2. Carnitas nachos and burgers are flavorful!
3. Prices are good.
Management:
1. Keep a hostess and the front at all times.
2. Treat your workers with respect.
3. Don’t lie about the wait times «5 – 10 minutes». Yea Right!
4. Serve fresh/​real calamari.
5. Fix the fries (we couldn’t eat them). ANY fast food place does fries better.

I have been to the café several times throughout the years and the food was always very good up to the point when they decided to change the menu. While the prices now are a bit higher, the quality of the food has gone way down.
There are noticeable quality issues when it comes to the meat that is being used, for example the Reuben is half way decent but is only offered on certain days as a special, the French dip is mediocre at best, again due to the quality of the meat, the burgers are tasteless, dry and despite any best attempt at covering them with toppings remain absolutely unappetizing.
But the worst and most disgusting dish on that menu are what they call fish tacos plate. Now that is a culinary disgrace in terms of design, quality and execution. The $ 9.00 plate consists of 2 of the tiniest portions you’ve ever seen of frozen fish covered in a bitter, brown coleslaw wrapped in a couple of corn tortillas, served with a side of tasteless guacamole and chips. An absolute disgrace for anyone that calls himself a chef worthy of his name to serve such a substandard dish on their menu. What a shame!!!
Needless to say I will not be returning to this restaurant ever again and would not recommend to anyone!!!

This place has improved greatly with the redesign and menu change. The prices have gone up but the food quality has also gone up. I recommend the breakfast sandwich, if you know me this will come to you at no surprise. I don’t know what Sam G is talking about, I wouldn’t take their rating seriously as you can never trust anyone with a gender neutral name.

Pros: Foodserver Kathy is Adorable!
Cons: Fries were room temp, I was offered hot fries. They never came. Ruben good, over toasted bread.
Bf ordered burger rare, came medium well.
No reason to come back.

Initially with a new menu and higher prices, I was hesitant to try. We had bruschetta, it was different from any other I’ve had so ++ for that, atta boy chef! My burger that I followed with was medium well, but not quite medium cooked! Ewe! Bad chef, bad! Fries were in a metal basket wrapped in newspaper like wrapping paper, nice touch! Apple roll ups for dessert, hoping for the best! Update, mgr Nicole came out to investigate the burger and comp’d us on dessert. I upgrade a star for that! Very pleasant, not perfect, but pleasant place to eat. Keep in mind it’s inside a Native American casino.
Ok, verdict is in, Apple roll ups are yummy and the vanilla dipping sauce rocks, the caramel had intentionally had a burnt flavor to it. Wifey didn’t like, but I could see limited appeal. Overall thumbs up chef!

Waited almost 40 minutes to eat at the café, this is around 11pm. Fine with that. Finally got seated, then waited quite a bit just to order water. After ordering my water, waited another damn 15 minutes for some damn water. Wtf, this place isn’t busy at all. The waitress said «sorry for the wait, everyone has been waiting», I looked around and laughed my ass off.
No negative so had to put a 1 star
I have to add. Ordered Calamari and they brought me out what appeared to be «cheese sticks»… Never was it specified on the menu the form it would be delivered…

I finally came back to this restaurant last Saturday. It was a full house. The hostess told my husband it would be 10 minutes but it was closer to 30 minutes.
I ordered their hot Reuben sandwich and it might be one of the BEST sandwiches I’ve ever had. The sauerkraut was sensational. I could tell that it was homemade. The quality and the taste of the meat was outstanding. The bread was fresh (marble) and tasted really good. It also came with fresh homemade potato chips. They were light and crispy. Everything a good chip should be.
The waitress did a pretty good job. Service with a smile. She disappeared for quite sometime though. Someone else ended up serving our food.
Thankfully, the service was better than last time as the food was as well. This place really needs to examine their service a bit closer & make some changes. If they improve in this area, this could easily be a 5 star café. My review is 3.5.

I have to give this restaurant 4 star’s because this is where i met my Love. We had our first date. Here. So sorry im alittle bias of this fine place.
On a serious note, if you want good service, pretty good food, a very nice atmosphere. Then you’ll want to come to the café. Very good salads. Soups. Pasta. Basically all the food is good at a very affordable price. So enjoy. Remember to use your viejas card for a discount.

We were staying at the hotel so we decided to give it a try. Conveniently located in the casino. The food is not bad and the prices are beyond reasonable. They take 20% off with club card. The servers were warm and friendly. We ate there 3 times and enjoyed it every time. It’s not fancy like the steakhouse but for the prices it was beyond our expectations.

Good food and a great atmosphere and staff. Our waitress Tarren would be checking up on us just to make sure we were everything was up to par and that we were enjoying our meals. During our visit the kitchen was running behind and was backed up, but our waitress and Manager Nicole would keep us updated on our food and what the situation was. They took care of us during our visit and provided excellent service despite the backed up kitchen. The excellent staff alone is worth another visit to this spot.

Okay so this is the 2^nd time we’ve been here and this place is a piece of shit.
Both times our host/​hostess was an idiot. Didn’t know how to do their jobs.
Our server today, Andy, didn’t come to our table till 15 min after we sat down. Our host actually came by to take our drink order (btw don’t ask about alcohol cause they have to clue) did I mention it wasn’t even busy?!
Btw, the tables are so fucking long that you could see 6 ppl. 1 on each end and 2 on each side. Yet they place the table the long way so I have to stretch just to reach my fiancé hand.
Food took forever about 30 min for a fruit plate and 2 pancakes and never did our server come check on us. Honestly we could/​should have left.
Our server passed our table 5 times and never once said anything. My fiancé needed a refill after the 1^st pass… we left and he never got it cause (1) he never was offered (even once we got the check) and (2) we had finished our meal and just wanted to get the fuck out.
My fruit plate was pretty good, but honestly who can’t serve fruit? And the pancakes were eh, drowning anything in syrup will make’em edible.
On the 6^th passes, we were able to get our server’s attention to get the check. Whoop de f-​ing doo!
I can understand bad service the first time, free pass, but having the exact same shit happen the second time (in addition to other stuff which made it worse) is unacceptable.
Veijas needs to step up their game cause not only is this the only place open after 9pm mon-​Fri (wtf, it screams «Not for young ppl») but it is not worth the drive/​stay.
Go to Barona Casino, 24 hr café is amazing and delivers everytime.

I gave it 2 stars because we spoke to the manager and she was amazing!!! Thank you Nicole. She listened to our feedback and plans to do something with it! Hope they get it together.

Love the food and atmosphere here! I always love sitting in the patio and everything on the menu is so delicious! Big portions and worth it. Super affordable as well! Favorites: anything from the breakfast side, burgers and the fruit plate!

The meals are super cheap and good. With your player card you get 20% off. The food is made quick and the service is really nice :)

Nothing special just like any café at a casino. The fire cracker shrimp is a must try, really good.

This place was soooooo good. I ordered breakfast food for dinner haha. i got the basic american breakfast (eggs, toast, bacon, hash browns & pancakes) for only $ 6 + 20% disc for Viejas members.
The food was delicious. I ate everything!!! the scrambled eggs tasted fresh like real eggs and not the liquid kind. The pancakes were soft & fluffy, bacon and hash brown was crispy.
The only downfall is that… theyr’e slow — they take foreverrrr to take your order, cook the food and check you out. I think its just how they do their business. So its ok. My friend and i had the time to catch and chat away.

We had a great time at this café. Taylor (our server) had impeccable service. She gave us great tips on what to eat. We got fish and chips and the grilled cheese. We also drank beer and wine — pretty good selections for both! The viejas 20% off card is a deal also, so our meal was pretty affordable!

I have had better service… everywhere. Honestly it was really late not too busy and yet it was slower than driving home in the rain in San diego… lol
We were starving. Finally we received our food! OMG Yes I am going to grub on my fish and chips!
No…No…No nasty dried out cold as SSSSSS fish. Not even me starving would eat it.
Man I really just was so bummed out. I understand that they were understaffed with waiters. Well there is a quick fix for that. That one lady stationed at the door asking how many in your group… well have her take orders. I’m not even sure if it was a waitress problem or a cook problem.
The wings were nice and spicy.
My friend had the grilled cheese with clam chowder soup. I was so hungry and tired that she took pity on me and gave me half of her sandwich… lol
Next time… well I don’t know if I want to try them again.
