Old faithful burger spot in North Atlanta! Always order the seasoned fries! For a yummy summertime treat definitely order a vanilla/chocolate swirl frozen custard– you won’t regret it!

After the success of their original restaurant, it’s nice to see that they’ve branched up to Northeast Atlanta. My friend and I walked in on a cold, Saturday afternoon, only one or two tables were taken with customers, and a couple employees were lounging around. The interior pretty much had a rustic vibe, the establishment flanked by a brick wall on one side, lined with booths, and wooden tables in the middle. You can see the chalkboard hung above the cashier immediately, and everything is laid out in plain sight. The cashier guy was nice, explained the whole lingo and method to ordering a burger, and even helped us through the menu. I wasn’t very hungry, so I just ordered the Village Burger without sides. The restaurant has an interesting way of ordering burgers, and most of the toppings are customize-able. First, you choose a burger, either The Village(2 patties), Village w/cheese(2 patties w/cheese), the House(1 patty), and the same w/cheese. They also have a veggie, turkey, and chicken sandwich option, but I was there for the burger. For toppings and condiments, I got lettuce, tomato, pickles, raw onions, and green pepper, with ketchup and spicy mustard on top. The wait was a bit long since there weren’t any customers(~10 minutes). The burger finally arrived, dripping grease everywhere(could be a good or bad thing). The portion size was pretty good, larger than the burgers at Burger 21, and roughly the same size as the ones at SmashBurger. Starting from the top, the white bun. It was dry and flaky, didn’t hold up well after soaking up all the grease. A lot of the other reviewers complained that the bun isn’t fresh, which now seems understandable. The patties didn’t meet my expectations. Firstly, it was under seasoned. At the very least, I expect a burger patty to be properly seasoned with salt and pepper, to bring out more of the flavor of the meat. In turn, the burger didn’t have much of a taste. In addition, the patties were crumbly, and chunks easily broke off when I was eating the burger. Moving on, the tomatoes, onions, and green peppers were fresh, and the lettuce was very nice, almost like a butter lettuce consistency. The veggies were probably my favorite part of the burger, which is kind of a sad thing. My friend ordered onion rings, so I tried one. I ended up getting one with the outer onion layer(the tough fibrous layer), pretty much unacceptable. The other ones looked fine, so I probably have terrible luck HAHA. Maybe I was just unlucky and went on the wrong day. Both this and the original location have fairly good reviews, so I’ll probably visit a couple more times when I’m in the area. I added a star for the good customer service, glad that they were patient with us ordering.

I can’t understand why a restaurant that specializes in burgers won’t cook the burger to order. The only excuse is the patties are so thin they can’t cook a medium burger. You will get a thin burger, well cooked and thick bun. I even had to place the patty on the bum after it was slid across the table to me topping it off with bad service. Would not recommend

Three people, three different burgers, three very happy campers. Fresh ingredients, fantastic service– highly recommend for quick stop when you’re craving that perfectly greasy burger. Also, veggie options were available.

Love this place. Best kids meal value anywhere! Fries are always fresh and the BLT with avocado is delicious! Of course the burgers are the best around.

3 ½ stars. Wish I had seen the menus in front of me(hard to read the far away sign). Wish I had known about the seasoned fries(the Unilocal reviews). $ 3,29 for 5 onion rings? and one of them was the ‘husk’ ring? worth not coming back for(surely the ‘chef’ saw what he was dipping in the(killer!) breading. they were very good! but… the ‘house’ burger was very good, very juicey, but bruised lettuce? really?(I was one of 3 – 4 patrons). Dry generic buns… really? for this price? it looked/tasted like they stole it off a McD’s truck(yawn). For the price. not sure. I really liked the ambiance.(the mirrors on the wall really make it feel bigger. The counter folks seemed very nice.

Got to be one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten here in Atlanta. Good food, fun and friendly employees. This is not my first time eating here and it won’t be my last. Thanks VB

Simple philosophy — Fresh ingredients, great service makes the difference. We love this spot. The burgers are outstanding and the fresh cut fries are fantastic(get them seasoned) Our kids love this place because they get treated like rock stars, it is awesome to walk into a place the managers know not only you but your kids by name.

After a long day of work, we stopped by Village Burger for some takeout. I had ordered from here before several months ago, and don’t remember it being bad. However, tonight’s food was absolutely disgusting. Onion rings were dripping in grease and had some sort of hot pepper on them… Weird. The hotdog and hamburgers were burned, the buns were soaked in grease and falling apart, the chicken tenders were dry and scrawny. Literally everything we bought was inedible. I will never waste my money at this place again. If you’re hankering for a home-cooked burger, try the Cook Out. It’s just down Haynes Bridge Road, a fraction of the cost, and way way better!

Love this place! Its like an updated version of five guys– I particularly love the turkey burger. Haven’t tried their shakes, but have been wanting to get around to it. I just wish they had more seating. With how good the place is, it can get busy and hard to find a spot!

So happy to have Village Burger near me. I like the Dunwoody one. This second location has a newer atmosphere, but same relaxed vibe. This isn’t trendy burgers. No wagyu, wasabi, or kale here. It’s a classic local burger joint, dressed up a bit. Simple food, well executed, at a good value makes it five stars for me. Order at the counter, then take a number and a food runner delivers your plastic basket of goodness. Counter folks are patient and helpful if you experience menu board paralysis. Choose your preferred size, bun and toppings. Non-burger options include hot dogs, grilled cheese, chili, turkey burgers, salads, a BLT, or a hand-formed black bean veggie burger. Seasoned fries are very salty but delicious, and I love the onion rings. One order is large enough to share, and you can get half of each. A short list of beer and wine is available. I tried the custard ice cream last weekend for the first time. Way better than I expected. Worth stopping by just for that or a milkshake. Not many tables, but even at peak times we’ve gotten a seat after only waiting a moment. There’s a couple TVs usually tuned to sports. No defined outdoor eating area, but a few tables are outside in front facing the parking lot. This is little kid central early on weekend nights in this family neighborhood. Lots of soccer moms and dads grabbing beers with the kidlets in tow. If that’s not your thing, go after 7:30 and it calms down a lot.

Everything about our meal was really good. Husband got village burger with cheese, it was the best burger I’ve ever tried. Seasoned fries were good and the regular size was large enough to share. I got a grilled cheese and bowl of chili. Chili had alot of meat and was delicious. We split a strawberry cheesecake concrete which was spectacular. Can’t wait to come back here. The prices were super reasonable.

This is by far my favorite burger place in the Alpharetta/Roswell/Johns Creek area. I’ve been a fan of the Dunwoody location for years and the burger is the same here. Don’t make the mistake of getting the single burger as some Unilocalers have. Definitely go with the Village Burger with two patties and seasoned fries. Village Burger has a couple of local craft beers and there are some tables outside. It’s a very kid friendly restaurant as you would expect in this area. Good place, good people.

After a few more visits, I’m bumping my rating for Village Burger of Johns Creek. 4th star — Earned it… Referring to my first review and the lost 4th star, I’m gonna update a few things… 1. The drink machine can stay behind the counter for now. The traffic is low enough that it’s not that hard to get a refill from the staff. 2. There ARE bottled beers available — standard stuff, nothing craft-y. 3. The bun irregularities were just that — out of place experiences that have since been forgotten. Village Burger of Johns Creek is starting to get more traffic — YAY, SUBURBANITESFOREATING«GOOD» FOOD! — and seems to be finding a groove. My only lingering concern is if they get REALLY popular and the rental space becomes a liability. In the meantime, I’m going to keep grabbing burgers at Village Burger over Five Guys on the basis of proximity, speed and cost. It’s our little suburban alternative to Grindhouse Killer Burgers and Farm Burger — I’ll take that.
